I've been a patient for YEARS and only managed to see Dr. Lafsky in office ONCE due to repeated scheduling errors on their end. The final straw was after being denied a scheduled appt. With Dr. Lafsky by Nancy the office manager. All bc I missed an appointment while I was in the hospital with SEPSIS. Instead of telling the doctor I was there she sat me and my MOTHER down for 45min to lecture us about missing appointments. I even called from my potential deathbed to cancel and i saw Dr. Lafsky while in hospital!! Later that weekend, I retroactively received an invite from the receptionist Sam to an entirely different appointment the previous month that I did not make nor was I ever informed of. Clearly trying to clean up a screw up. So, after trying to schedule an over due Endo and colonoscopy for 3 years with this office, I finally gave up and found a new GI. I came in as a new patient, had my first appointment, and both procedures scheduled and performed in less than 2 weeks. If you are having issues with this office, it's them not you, just run. P.s. shout-out to Reston Gastro Health! It's a 2hr round-trip, but probably just gained me years of life back.

I then got a call and was told that if I was OK with a mid-day appointment, I could schedule an appointment earlier. My appointment was scheduled with Michelle Cringler, PA-C. She was very knowledgeable and went through the process step by step. They printed out a packet for me to take home. The packet was very detailed and provided excellent day by day instructions for my colonoscopy 2 weeks later with a Dr. Hani Sabahi. I had minimal wait time for my 9AM appointment and the whole process took about an hour and a half which included post procedure waiting. I did not have a lot of questions for the doctor as I did a lot of research on youtube and knew what to expect. Dr. Sabahi was very professional and followed up after the procedure to discuss my results and let me know that he'll see me in about 10 years. Thanks for making the whole process quick and easy.

It's impossible to get information, make or break an appointment, or talk to anyone who knows…read moreanything. Their automated AI phone system is worthless. When you finally get to the "operator," the only thing he can do is take a message. Then when the right person returns your call, you had better be waiting by the phone! Otherwise they leave you a message and you have to go through the whole ordeal all over again! As an example of how bad communication is within the office, I managed to reschedule my endoscopy and received email confirmation. Of the change. But the office then called to confirm my original appointment. The RN with whom I had my original consultation was worthless too. She could care less about me, didn't have the medical experience necessary to understand my medical concerns, and didn't try to understand them. The only reason I tried so hard to get an appointment there was to see Dr. Gill, because he had treated my brother. But I never got to see him, not even in prep for my procedure. I canceled the procedure after all of that. I decided that seeing a great doctor was not worth all of the aggravation, miscommunication, lack of communication, and the number inexperienced people required to get to him. Really too bad.

I never fully understood the explanation of what was the required $500 deposit for my colonscopy…read moreprocedure if I had my private health insurance coverage. I paid it anyway because, as the AMGI explained, I will get it back in 3 months. That timeline came and passed. I got some of my deposit back only after countless of follow ups, phone calls, voice messages, and emails to their billing office which was stressful and increasingly frustrating. Paying a high premium for health insurance is frustrating enough but this experience pushed that frustration to a whole new level! On top of that, I learned through Yelp and other review apps that this did not only happen to me but to many of you who also went to see Dr Blosser and trusted AMGI, and then treated woefully! One proactive thing that worked for me is I reached out to my health insurance provider, complained, and asked for help to get my deposit back which they gladly did. After working with my health insurance benefits specialist, provided them with documentation, and records of phone calls and emails (so keep a log) and staying on top of phone calls and emails, I finally got my check but it was $30 short of the $500 deposit I put down with no explanation of what the extra charge was for, even when I tried to get one. My request for an accounting of additional charges was also ignored. Dr. Blosser maybe a good GI but you have other choices you can go to. Dealing with this practice's business office is a real nightmare!

The "firing of the previous billing company" was already being cited months before my procedure, so that explanation doesn't hold up. Good luck to anyone willing to take a chance here. As I mentioned earlier, search for "$500 Advance Medical GI Reston" and read the reviews across different sites before making a decision. Previous Review: My experience with Advanced Medical GI in Reston was incredibly frustrating and careless from start to finish. On the day of my procedure, the check-in nurse put the wrong patient wristband on me without even asking my name. That level of negligence should have been a warning sign, but unfortunately, it only got worse. I was scheduled for a preventative procedure, and after completing the full prep the day before, I was told that morning I had to pay a $500 deposit up front. At that point, I had no choice but to go through with it. That kind of last-minute surprise billing is unacceptable and unethical. Later, I received a separate invoice for $1,875, even though my insurance confirmed the payment had already been made to AMGI. My insurance provider reached out four times to confirm the payment and received no response. I also submitted an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) showing the amount was approved and paid. Good luck trying to reach the billing department. On top of that, they held my $500 deposit for months without any explanation or updates. I had to follow up multiple times and was met with silence or vague, unhelpful replies claiming they are still waiting for insurance to pay them even though I was told multiple times by my insurance company that it's been paid. This office is disorganized, unprofessional, and shows a troubling lack of accountability. If you google "$500 Advance Medical GI Reston," you'll see this isn't just my experience -- there are plenty of other patients saying the same thing. Save yourself the stress.
