Prior to having a procedure done with Gastro Health, I received a phone call saying the procedure would cost me something like $1,700. I asked why insurance wasn't covering it and the representative told me it was due to how it was coded for insurance. I informed her I wouldn't come in to have the procedure done if that couldn't be changed. She said she'd check on that and let me know. She called me back later that afternoon and told me they would update the coding of the procedure and insurance would cover it. The only purpose of that call was to confirm they could do that for me. There was nothing ambiguous about it - no gray area. She told me what they would do to induce me to come in for the procedure. I came in an had the procedure done. No issues with that. Shortly thereafter, I received an invoice for the approx $1700. They obviously didn't do what they told me would be done. I've contacted them no fewer than 5 times requesting they correct the problem. To date, nothing has been corrected. They will receive exactly $0 from me until they correct their mistake but it's going on 6 months and they've done nothing. Think twice about dealing with these clowns.

I sense that the majority pay it without questioning as I did with my HSA card. I spoke to my Cigna insurance, they informed me that the $500 should be refunded. After numerous texts and telephone "exchanges" I had to return in person to get the $500 refund. I would not be surprised if a significant number of patients are unaware that their insurance company likely pays most of the coloscopy charges as it is preventive and that they should not pay in the first place and if they did pay, are entitled to a refund. The reviews about the front desk are similar to my experience. Without asking my name, she placed a wristband on me. You can tell she does not like being there and does not like her lunch being interrupted, yet she is the initial impression and the face of the practice. They continually tell him they will look into it or do not call back at all. He has called his insurance company many times to ensure that they have paid the practice and they confirm that it was paid shortly after the procedure. There is no way that there is not something fraudulent going on with billing at AMGI in Reston as it is clear that he is not the only one who has experienced this.

I had a virtual appointment on Friday afternoon. They were running 30 minutes behind, which I don't ever mind if a provider gives me the time I need. They did do that. The PA was supposed to call in medication and an order to Fairfax Radiology. Well I call the pharmacy to see if it was ready and they never received the prescription. I then call Fairfax Radiology to set up an appointment and they have no order. Of course all of this on a Friday afternoon before the weekend. I didn't want to page a dr over the weekend even though I didn't feel well, so I sent them a message through their portal system. The lady who responded said they sent them on Friday. That may or may not be true, I don't know, but there was an issue somehow because two independent facilities told me they hadn't received them. I then call to get a f/u scheduled this morning. The receptionist could not figure out how to book an appointment for the provider I had seen. I was on the phone with her for 15 minutes with her trying to figure it out. After 15 minutes of trying she then tells me she has to put me on hold while she can figure it out. After waiting 10 more minutes and her not returning, I finally hung up. It shouldn't be this difficult to schedule an appointment. I then call back to try and talk to someone else and get an appointment scheduled and they ask me to leave a message, that they'll call me back. I haven't heard from them yet. It shouldn't be this hard to get an appointment scheduled and medication/orders sent. Especially when you don't feel well. You can look at my reviews. I generally don't like to give poor ones, and have previously been very happy with this practice. In my experience their providers are very knowledgeable, empathetic, and accurate in their diagnosis. The lady I saw Friday was no exception to that. It is the way the office runs that seems to be the issue. My recent experience with them is the way the office is run has changed and they're difficult to deal with. My hope is they can rectify this because if not, I will be looking for another practice.

I've been a patient for YEARS and only managed to see Dr. Lafsky in office ONCE due to repeated scheduling errors on their end. The final straw was after being denied a scheduled appt. With Dr. Lafsky by Nancy the office manager. All bc I missed an appointment while I was in the hospital with SEPSIS. Instead of telling the doctor I was there she sat me and my MOTHER down for 45min to lecture us about missing appointments. I even called from my potential deathbed to cancel and i saw Dr. Lafsky while in hospital!! Later that weekend, I retroactively received an invite from the receptionist Sam to an entirely different appointment the previous month that I did not make nor was I ever informed of. Clearly trying to clean up a screw up. So, after trying to schedule an over due Endo and colonoscopy for 3 years with this office, I finally gave up and found a new GI. I came in as a new patient, had my first appointment, and both procedures scheduled and performed in less than 2 weeks. If you are having issues with this office, it's them not you, just run. P.s. shout-out to Reston Gastro Health! It's a 2hr round-trip, but probably just gained me years of life back.
