The team who came were on time and finished the work cleanly in one day. Their price point is on the higher end, but in exchange we got the peace of mind that the job was being done right. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

Matthew's Roofing installed a new roof on my 100 plus year old 2 flat in Logan Square. The work…read moreinvolved a complete tear off of the existing roofing material (many layers thick, completely filling a large dumpster to overflow) masonry work to repair the inner roof parapet wall and new chimney, and new state of the art roofing foam insulation board, membrane installation and related flat roofing materials. The work started promptly. The crew was hardworking and conscientious and greatly exceeded my expectations. When they were done I had a beautiful new roof. Cleanup was done especially well. Once work started, crews were on-site until timely completion. When there was the threat of rain, exposed areas were covered. The price was a little more than others charge, but given that they have been in business for many years, the quality of work performed, the quality of the materials used and the warranty provided, it was worth the small premium. The company communicated with me every step of the way and shared pictures of trouble areas, progress, and completion.

They took the time to identify and explain additional work that would be important to ensure our home remained safe, stable, and properly protected. We truly appreciate their honesty and willingness to go above and beyond. Another thing that we appreciated was that they provided pictures and videos of the work as it progressed, as well as the finished product, which gave us peace of mind and allowed us to see the quality of the work every step of the way. We are very happy with the results and grateful for the professionalism, transparency, and care that Peter, Sonny and their Crew provided. Not a good experience overall. The price was competitive but the work was questionable and the…read morecommunication was terrible. They added a bunch of roofing material to my roof hatch cut out making it much harder to fit the hatch on top of the opening. I had to end up cutting back a bunch of the extra roofing material to make it fit and hired a handyman to help me do that. They also left nails and garbage on the roof and in the backyard. They left a broken plastic tube that expels water from the furnace hanging over the side of the house where it was splashing onto us in the gangway. When I asked Nick on a Sunday to have someone come back and take a look at it he said someone would come look on Monday. I didn't hear from anyone until five days later on Saturday morning when Nick said he would come look at it. I told him I had already fixed it. To be clear, I think the tube got ripped in the storm damage, but they could have told me about it or at least not left it hanging over the side of the house if they weren't going to fix it. Communication was really bad too. They came out right before a downpour on a Monday and had to pause work in the middle of that. They were then going to come back the next day, but then told me later they would come back Friday. Nick told me his guy would come Friday morning possibly before 8am. I was surprised to have JR on my porch and calling me at 6:10am. I've never had a contractor show up that early and told him I couldn't disturb the 2nd floor tenants that early. JR said he would be back at 1pm. He came back at 8:55am instead without explanation and expected to be let in. When Nick and company failed to show up to address the plastic tubing situation, he said he felt bad and wanted to make it up to me. I told him he could send me back $100 for my time and effort addressing issues related to the roof job. I spent 2-3 hours of my time addressing roof issues (tubing and roof hatch), going to Menards, and spent money on a handyman. He has yet to reply and that was three days ago. The price was decent, but I very much feel like I got what I paid for and had to pay extra in both my time and money to remediate the project. I would not hire them again.
