Unfortunately, they missed some mold, and I had to call them back to cut out more drywall. This was a big disappointment. I don't understand how it was missed. The missed mold was right up to the edge of the drywall, meaning the drywall they cut out would also have mold right up to the edge, and they are supposed to remove one foot past where the mold ends. I found it when I was putting insulation back in, and I could have easily missed it myself which could have led to the mold continuing to grow and having another big problem later.  Also, I was given a work authorization to sign, but with no written breakdown of what the work would actually entail: which parts of the house, the process to remove the mold, etc. I had to request this. All other mold mitigation companies I contacted gave me a quote with a very detailed written breakdown of the work to be performed. If you go with them, make sure you ask for the details of the work to be performed in writing and don't settle for just a verbal explanation of what they will do.

Then showed up 10 days later to grab their equipment and left. Charged my insurance company over $6,000 and once they got their money, I never heard from them again. For 3 months I left numerous voicemails which were never returned. I was initially told that they would be in touch with some proposals to replace the drywall, flooring, paint, etc. but never heard a single thing. So I was just left to scramble on my own and I am still attempting to find someone to finish putting my basement all back together and it has literally been over 4 months now. Live and learn I guess. I would have been better off renting a commercial shop vac and dehumidifiers and done it all myself and saved myself from being dropped by my insurance company. So very disappointing.

I was given a two hour time window and was told that I would be getting a call or text when the cleaners were on their way. I was home, but was upstairs working (out of doorbell range). I had my phone volume on and clung on to it while I waited so that I wouldn't miss the call. I headed downstairs about 45 minutes into my time window for a glass of water and noticed that the cleaners were standing on my porch looking confused. I let them in and apologized profusely because I expected a call first. I don't know how long they were waiting but I felt awful. A heads up would have definitely been appreciated. Otherwise, they were in and out in two hours, and they did an awesome job! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Avellas to friends and family. I will certainly be using them again!

When the two painters came, they started putting the undercoat on. I called Michael right away and asked what they were doing because (as per contract) they were supposed to be sanding. He said, " it would be fine". As you can see from the pictures, it is not. It chipped immediately. When asked, Michael said I must be running carts into it. I have no idea what that means, and that my dogs must be scratching at them. I do not have dogs. Either way, the paint job that "will last a lifetime" (his words) lasted 2 days. There was wallpaper to be taken off. There are spots where that was left completely. when I mentioned it to Michael on his walk-through, he said, " I never would have noticed that." as if I should not have even bothered him with it. The painters didn't bring in drop cloths, one saying, " they're in the back of the truck. I don't want to dig them out." consequently he dripped paint on my tile, on my floors, on my carpet, on the woodwork. Michael's comments, " that happens." The wall in the kitchen didn't look great on the final walk-through. I asked Michael about it. He said it would look fine when it dried. It did not. when it started peeling I noticed it was only one coat of paint. Yes, Michael said that he would have his men come back, but why would I want them back in my home? They had already damaged my property. One was constantly trying to run game on me. the second pointed out things of mine that weren't up to his standard. The second day he walked in the front door without knocking or letting me know he was here. Started walking around my home. Both of them talked s when they thought I wasn't around. The supervisor failed to communicate with the painter as to what needed to be done, or the painter failed to pay attention. I had to repeatedly check his work to make sure everything was done and to correct sloppy work. Also, the interior trim work done by the "carpenter" was substandard with very poor attention to detail. I mentioned this to the job supervisor but he showed no interest in my concerns. And, I had to advise the painter again to get the proper penetration on the baseshoe to match the baseboard. Very disappointing experience. Strongly recommend Home Works Remodeling, Middleton.
