Clearly he's got plenty of business (just not mine). Definitely not a people person. Weird he choose dealing with people as a career. Read your reviews people it may save you . I'm writing this review in hopes that it might help someone else avoid having the same sort of…read morenegative, costly experience I had with this company. I hired this company to install an inverter and a battery monitor into my brand new travel trailer, and the work that they performed was careless at best, and potentially a dangerous fire hazard. When you hire someone who is supposedly a professional, you generally expect them to do at least as good of a job as you could do yourself, but this was definitely not my experience with Aspen RVs. The first issue I discovered had to do with the number of circuits that they connected to the inverter. When I dropped off my trailer, I discussed with owner Matthew Simpson that I would like to have the inverter installed so that it powered all of the circuits in my trailer with the exception of the air conditioner and the microwave oven. When I arrived to pick up my trailer I was informed that they were only able to wire up one circuit to the inverter because it could only be connected to circuits protected by a GFCI. I was not happy about this, but I let it go. After I got the trailer home, I decided that it might be a good idea to take a closer look at the work they performed and I'm sure glad I did. I opened up the compartment where they had mounted the inverter and noticed that the positive cable connection to the inverter had a lot of electrical tape wound around it. It looked really sloppy so I decided to take a closer look. That's when I noticed that the positive cables were not firmly attached to the inverter. The cables were completely loose! This is a very high current connection and the inverter's installation manual clearly states that these connections need to be torqued tightly. A loose connection here is a potential FIRE HAZARD, and this is very clearly called out in the installation manual. I was shocked that anyone that considers themselves a professional would make such a serious mistake. I wish I could give them the benefit of the doubt, but someone left the cable loose and wrapped it up with electrical tape! Bear in mind that this inverter was installed directly below our bed, so any fire could have been a very dangerous situation indeed! Upon further inspection, I discovered the reason that the connection had been left loose. The connection attaches to the inverter with a stud and nut. Evidently, they lost the metric sized nuts that came with the inverter, and tried to force imperial sized nuts on the studs! The nut was just barely threaded onto the stud and was clearly the incorrect size for the stud. After discovering how they had left the positive cable, I started inspecting the negative side. There was one cable that attached to the negative side of the inverter and a smaller cable that was just left touching the lug of the main cable and wrapped up with a lot of electrical tape. Again I was shocked that anyone would think this was an adequate way to make an electrical connection! I unwrapped the electrical tape and found the stud on the electrical side was shorter than the positive side. Evidently they forced the wrong size nut on and ended up having to grind the stud down to clean the threads up. A trip to Ace Hardware could have identified that this was a metric size stud. Instead, they just took a grinder to the stud and now it is barely long enough to thread a nut halfway on. Unbelievable! I discovered many other problems and ended up re-wiring most of it myself. I sent an email to the owner Matthew Simpson detailing the issues I found, but never received a response. I was so very hopeful when I discovered Aspen RV's especially given all of the great reviews I read online, but I was extremely disappointed with the work that was performed on my trailer and feel like I got royally screwed for over $3400. I would not recommend this company to do any type of electrical work on an RV.

On that day, Matt quickly arrived, assessed the problem and replaced the battery. He was personable and his charge was reasonable. During conversation, I learned that Matt would also be able to purchase and program a key fob for my van. We discussed price and timing for this service, and as he requested, I paid him up front via Venmo $287.54 for him to purchase the fob. The plan was to reconnect several days later after the fob arrived for him to program the fob to my van. On the expected date, 8/28 Matt let me know he would prefer to meet on 8/29. On 8/29, Matt let me know that the fob had not arrived, and in addition, his phone was broken and worked only intermittently. He texted to say he would meet me in Estes Park once the fob arrived to do the programming. I sent Matt a text on 8/30, 8/31, 9/2 and 9/3 as well as left a voice message. No response. On 9/4 I let him know that I sent a Venmo request for him to reimburse me for the cost of the key fob. On 9/5 I spoke with O'Reilly's and was told they had seen Matt who had a new phone. I finally heard from Matt on 9/10. He stated he has the key fob and would meet me in Estes the following day. On 9/11 I asked for time confirmation and he responded he had just left Glenwood and would arrive 5-5:30pm. He never showed up. On 9/12 after several texts, he finally got back to me saying he would refund my money. To this date, 9/15, he has not responded to me, nor refunded my money. Matt may be a decent mechanic, but he is also a scammer and a thief and takes advantage of honest, trusting individuals. What a shame.

Mr. transmission, who did a free scan for me, and sent me their way from next door. Nick at the front desk said he could fit me in, which I greatly appreciated so we could potentially get home the same day. I thought we were in good hands considering they worked me in same day. Sadly that's where it went downhill. He didn't give me any sort of initial quote or disclaim there would be a "diagnostic labor charge". Since the guy next door did it no charge, I assumed it was the same with Alpine since this wasn't discussed. Additionally, he did say we probably needed to change the spark plugs, which I assumed wouldn't be too bad- you can get iridium NGK's for around $35 / 6, plus a little labor for the install. Daniel swapped a coil pack to rule that out as the potential issue, and said its most likely rocker arm- a 10 hour job - obviously we couldn't get that done but we'd be ok to drive home and get that fixed when we had more time. When we got the bill, we were horrified that it was nearly $700 for 6 spark plugs plus labor. Once I took a closer look at the bill at home, I noticed some shady and dishonest practices. The initial "estimate" I was never actually given was $145, which would've been reasonable for the scope of the work. However, while the car was there about 2.5 hours, I was charged for 3.8 hours of labor (I was double dipped obviously since Daniel is listed for both labor hours), which I'd call out Daniel wasn't actively working on the car the entire time (the car was sitting outside, and so were we). He also took it for a 30 min test drive around lunch- you can probably figure out what happened there. As soon as he would've drove it off the lot, you wouldn't need to get far to tell you the spark plugs wasn't the culprit. Also, we got charged for $36 worth of "shop supplies"- not sure what was "supplied" other than simply swapping spark plugs, which were sold to us way over retail price ($20 each). Lastly, looking at the invoice, on the back it states you wouldn't be charged more than 10% / $25 of the repair estimate unless determined additional repairs were necessarily. This tells me something went seriously wrong and there was a clear lack of communication. We had even brought in some doughnuts for the guys.. we felt completely taken advantage of. If we had been transparently quoted $680 up front, we would've certainly gone somewhere else. Worth mentioning, I emailed the owner going over the issues and discrepancies, and after a week, never got a reply. Not surprised! Also an update- we took it into the dealer, and they said Alpine misdiagnosed the issue. Instead of being a bad rocker arm ($2,100), it was a bad coil pack ($18). Seriously glad we got a second opinion, and I would strongly suggest going elsewhere to a more honest and reputable mechanic!

I checked with other shops in the area. This is not even in the ballpark of a fair price. They are lying about providing an estimate prior to service. That never happened. They threatened to "kick my a**" because I was attempting to argue these charges. They called me a dbag, told me to F myself. All sorts of profanity and insults. Just an absolutely insane way to treat a customer who has brought business to them for years. Never again. My fault for trusting them to conduct their business in an honest manner. I've taken vehicles here before so I wasn't expecting to get ripped off and extorted like this. I certainly was not expecting to be threatened with violence. It is unfathomable to me how a business owner could think that scamming, stealing from, insulting, and threatening working people in their own community will be a successful business strategy. If this is how they treat locals, imagine how they treat tourists... Edit: the business owner is blatantly lying in their reply to this review. I WAS NEVER PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE. Stop lying. Charge me a fair price, and don't threaten to beat me up when I complain about you scamming me. It's really not that difficult. Just be a decent human being. What is wrong with these people? I was VERY displeased to learn when I called in to find out where the camper was (who checks a storage lot every day?) that Mat Dog had kept it for 8 DAYS before contacting me to let me know they had it - and that contact only happened because I went looking for it. Temple (the owner?) basically told me that they could wait 10 days legally before they had to call. But why would anyone wait that long?? Oh right - because they charge $30 each day - and why not make $300 extra dollars by avoiding resolving an obvious issue. They could not meet me when I tried to show up that day during business hours - but said they wouldn't charge more than the [unnecessary] 8 days, only to have the driver that met me the following morning reply with 'we charged you for 12 days'. And that was on top of towing and booting charges. Almost $600!!! If I owned a towing company - and wanted to do as their website claims: "to serve the people of Carbondale and the surrounding area as best we can... We pride ourselves on the reputation that we have built over the years for excellent customer service" I would probably start by calling an unsuspecting person on DAY 1 to let them know I had their property, and not just let the bill rack up for the sole purpose of financial gain at their expense. And I've owned a successful company in the valley for over 17 years - and have seen unethical companies come and go during that time. At no point was Temple interested in making this right. No 'hey - my bad for not calling you... I'll just charge you for the tow and 2 days'. That leaves me with no other conclusion than this company is run unethically, and as such - I recommend avoiding them at all costs.
