THIS REVIEW IS BASED OFF FIRST IMPRESSION/SERVICE, not actually visiting the office.
My gut instinct just kept telling me to cancel the appointment. It was super difficult finding a new dentist after my last one (for several years) abruptly stopped taking my dental insurance. I love that this dental office confirms that they're vaccinated (unlike my last one). However, there are some initial questions that make me uncomfortable.
1. I was asked repeatedly did I have a PPO, no matter how many times I kept saying I did.
2. I was asked if I "have a printer" and told that I must print out, fill out and bring the application with me to the appointment. Can this office not afford a printer?
3. Even worse than that, the application isn't even printer friendly. The first two pages have this huge blue graphic that'll do some serious emptying on your own color ink cartridges. I did fill it out, but I chose gray to avoid unnecessary ink. I also emailed it back. If they can't print it out on their end, that's not my problem.
4. There's a question on the application that asks what your deductible is and how much of it have you paid. That was the FINAL part that just didn't sit well with me. I have lived in three different states, moved eight times and loyally gotten my teeth cleaned every six months my entire life (minus social isolation). And something about that question feels so invasive. There's also an application question asking how does the customer plan to pay for the visit, listing off credit cards.
5. I was reminded that my insurance would only cover basic cleaning, etc., which was what I asked for in the first place. I never said a word about a root canal or anything very involved, but that was emphasized anyway like somebody trying to do a car upsell. (I finally just looked up both dentists on the Illinois Dept. of Financial & Professional Regulation, and they are in good standing.)
6. The email address for this dental office is just a random Gmail address with a "1" in it because someone else apparently has the original email address. There's no website. Everything about this company feels so unofficial to me, even though they're licensed.
This whole vetting process feels like they're far more interested in getting paid and far less interested in actual dental health. As much as I do not feel like going through the exhausting process of trying to find a new dentist again, I just can't shake the feeling that this wouldn't be the right choice for me. So I canceled the appointment. I'll keep searching. read more
