I came with an almost 9 year old today (Monday) for the sunflower festival. Our tickets were for 10:30 and there was practically nobody else there (more at lunch time). Follow directions from whatever maps app. Parking is in the field next to the farm produce stand. Not sure when produce stand is open but it looked more lively by the time we left around 11:30. I purchased tickets online and sort of wandered into the store because it was unclear where to redeem tickets. We checked out the wall ball game and jumped on the jump pad and made big bubbles. Spun the chairs but didn't actually get in them, checked out the funny little singing tractor and sat on some bulls that had no lasso. We then wandered over to where there was a sign for sunflower field and waited for the tractor. We would've gotten a snack but settled on some waters from the store. ($2 each). Each admission comes with 1 sunflower bloom, you can get more but we weren't really interested. It was fun at the sunflower field to admire the flowers and go around the photo op spots. We both enjoyed trying to find the perfect flower. Good advice from the people at the stand to wait to pick a flower until you're waiting for the tractor - sunflowers droop pretty quick (mine perked up at home). They package it up for taking home nicely at the stand. I think this would be a good trip for an exuberant 4-6 year old and the full train of women coming out to the fields as we were leaving seemed to indicate it's a joyful ladies day trip. If you want flower pics, you can't lose here. 4 stars because it was worth doing but nothing special and I was hoping some of the games were geared towards slightly older kids. read more

Staff is super friendly and wants you to have a good time. This summer we enjoyed stopping by on the daily to get our stone fruits and corn, and just dropped by today so get our pumpkin. Found a cool conjoined twin pumpkin which we have plans for on Halloween night. Plus the puppies are welcome here, which makes them 100% better than Schilter Farms. read more

This is a little bit of a dry for us but as a family we decided we wanted to try a new pumpkin patch. On the website we did the research about the activities that we could do while we were there. One of the things that we were really excited about is the hand dipped corn on the cob. Once we arrived we found ourselves with a wilbero and on an adventure in a field full of pumpkins to choose from we found our 4 and headed back in 2 The common area. The gentleman that volunteers and drives the tractor with hysterical and had a wonderful sense of humor. The gentleman that was checking us out at the stand seemed to be less than excited to be there and also had really no idea how much things cost I think he was just typing things in so that he looked busy. I'm not going to Be dishonest I'm pretty sure we got our pumpkins our corn stocks as well as our treats for a lot cheaper than we were supposed to. The reason I give it a 3 is because there was no corn on the cob even though we were in the middle of a haunted corn maze and we were told corn is out of season. The farm itself is great and good for all ages. The haunted corn maze I would rate a 1*. They put you in too quickly. So you are always with other people leaving a large lack in surprise. You can't see most of the decorations because they are not lite up. There are very little scare factors in the entire walk through. I would like to give a props up to the character crawling through the mud. Best one there. Although the scares are really not there, you shouldn't take an infant into a haunted anything. I saw 2 women bring babies into this maze and while it's only my personal opinion, I found it very inappropriate. read more

This is my first time going. First I'll talk about the haunted maze because I would like that to be the first thing people see, and then I'll talk about renting the fire pit. It's $25 for the admission and the haunt, and $13 for the admission that includes the other attractions but not the maze. I haven't been in too many haunted houses but this would be the best I've been to. I'm a 35 yr old and I'm not there to scream/run/be scared because as a big horror fan and someone who has been through a lot, scare actors do not scare me aside from getting an adrenaline rush. So I am hard to scare. I don't say it to be cool, it's just how it is. So I'm basing this purely off the experience of the haunt and the actors. I thought it was excellent fun. I like to be playful with the scare actors and enjoy their interactions. I especially liked the clown with missing fingers and our conversation throughout the maze, the asylum, the nuclear chemicals gone wrong jobsite, and the row of creepy mannequins with a few surprises... They were all a hoot! My lady friend talked me into renting a "corn room." They're actually called fire pits, and that makes more sense. You get two hours which is a good amount of time. It is really nice to sit around a fire pit and roast marshmallows in the farm environment, particularly with the sounds of chainsaws and children screaming faintly. The firewood is supplied and the fire was really going strong when we arrived so it's great that you're not expected to start it yourself. I don't know if it's worth $90 unless you've got a big group that all pools money, though I do like supporting a local community farm. There was no non-haunted maze which was sad only because of the drought and the impact on the farm in general. I wasn't going to go to the regular corn maze so I wasn't impacted by it. read more

*Review for the Rutledge Corn Maze at NIGHT* Drove all the way from Kent to hang out with some friends and ended up here... Wasn't thoroughly impressed, but had fun because I had great company! The lot is good sized for the amount of people that show up, and the wait to get tickets was only a few minutes. It's $13 per person to get into 3 corn mazes - one haunted, and the other two regular. We started off with the two regular corn mazes. The first one was only .8 miles, and probably took us 20 minutes or so. The second one was 2.3 miles (I think) and that only took us about 45 minutes. My boyfriend was pretty adamant about getting all the punches in the punch card they give you for the maze, so we went to the furthest point you could before calling it good! The corn mazes were definitely kind of lame because we were barely shorter than most of the corn... There as one part where the corn literally only reached our knees! I know we went through a drought this year, so I'm trying to be sympathetic. The haunted corn "maze" was okay. It wasn't a maze, more like a guided path... I'm not complaining about that though. Getting scared through a true MAZE sounds shitty. Anyways, it took us about... 20 minutes to get through the line. They only let in groups of 5 at a time, so take note. Also take note that they let people in too quickly, so you kind of run into other groups and know when shit is gonna happen. I only got SCARED scared once. The rest of the time was meh. Rutledge doesn't offer many snack options. We got 2 little bags of popcorn and 2 hot cocoas. The popcorn tasted worse than the stuff you used to get at school for twenty five cents. It was straight CARDBOARD. The hot cocoa, they literally give you a cup of hot water and a hot chocolate packet to mix yourself. The total was only $4, so I guess I'm not too bitter. I definitely wouldn't drive alllll the way from Kent for this again - we came only for our friends, so this will probably go down in history as a one timer. read more

We paid $78 for two people to do the haunted maze and paintball. We were really excited for it, it was my first time. We got into the haunted corn maze a little after 9pm and were grouped with a family with young kids. Those in the maze to cause fright did not jump out at our group once. We believe this was due to the kids, however, it would have been nice to have been given the benefit of the doubt to join another group. They would walk out and say "hello" and that was about it. We then had zombie paintball for the 11pm-12am. It lasted about 10 minutes and we were disappointed because 2/3 of the zombies (there were about 2 per zone, six zones total) were laying on the ground not moving. The ones that did movie hid behind things and didn't really walk around for what you think "zombie paintball" would be. The haunted maze was a dark maze we smelled weed so maybe the actors were on a break! No action a couple of boos and two chainsaw guys at the end so that's how you know your mile long walk is about to end! Friends and I found this via Google after a VERY disappointing visit at wild waves' fright fest. We decided to leave the lines at fright fest, accept that our money was wasted there and stop in Tumwater on the way home. This was very easy to find as it really is right off exit 99! Tickets were 13 dollars and with that you get into all three mazes. The haunted maze. And the puzzle type maze. We only had time to do the haunted maze and one of the puzzle. But we didn't leave diapointed. Yeah, we had to wait in a line, but at least they entertained us by having the Actors run through the line occasionally trying to scare people it made the line move faster! We got plenty of sCares while in the scary maze, and finding your way through the puzzle maze in the dark with flashlights is Actully pretty tough. I want to go back and try the other part of the maze and bring a new set of friends to try it! It was so great. Probably a new October tradition! I feel good supporting a family owned farm and having fun. It really brightened my night after the horrible time we were having at the overrated "fright fest" at wild waves. Waste of money! Every year we attend Haunted Houses/Haunted mazes. We came here last year and there was food and other things to do. We were looking forward to getting some corn on the cob that was a BIG FAT 0! Im old enough not to want my face painted! The line for the Haunted Maze was long and since we brought a friend from Everett we decided to pay the extra money to cut in line Fast Pass $22. I am so glad that we did. I would have came out raving mad if I would have waited in that line for 2 hrs for that! That is the worst haunted anything that I have ever been to! I have to say I had an excellent time at the corn maze. I drove from Seattle on a Thurday night with a group of teenage girls and it was definitely worth the drive. The best part was the haunted corn maze.Overall the wait wasn't too bad but we also went on a weekday so that helped. Although it might not be for hard core haunted house goers, it was frightening enough for a bunch of scaredy cats like us. You could tell that the people who worked really enjoyed their job and really got into it. They really packed a lot into the course (it was a little over a mile), including three different people with chainsaws! I usually don't write reviews but we had such a good time I couldn't resist. While we were waiting in line for the haunted maze this little kid in a silver mask was running through the lines blowing a kazoo right in people's faces that got really annoying, finally a dad asked him to stop and replied that you can't touch the actors and walked off. a little while later a toddler grabbed the kids mask and pulled down and then proceeded to point and laugh. read more

The first time attending The Rutledge Corn Maze experience. The Zombie Paintball was supposed to start at 8:00 PM but it opened at 8:14 PM. The attendant at the Zombies Paintball was wearing a white headlamp and should have been using the red light. The person kept shinning the white light in people's eyes. The overall experience was good they had music, picnic tables and bonfires to keep people entertained and warm. Arrive early because of the long lines for both the Haunted Maze and Zombie Paintball. An improvement would be to have cell phone charging stations. read more

Looking for a fun seasonal outing for the whole family, and a place to pick up the pumpkins we'll need. Very SAD to read this from the Rutledge Corn Maze website, "We apologize for the higher prices this year. We have been hit with two new charges forcing us to go up in price. This year we were hit with the new $11.50 dollar minimum wage law. On top of that The State of Washington has also added a sales tax to all farm activities this year. We again apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." REALLY? You're LAND OWNERS and you're complaining about paying a (still less than livable) minimum wage? But, we live in such a poor state... uhhhmm, well, not according to businessinsider.com's state rankings, where we were NUMBER 2 out of all 50 states last June. And, compared to all the other corn mazes in the area, Rutledge farms are totally in-line and not unreasonable in their prices. And, why pay taxes? No one likes to... Unless you like to drive on paved roads, have public education, police, firefighters, etc. Or, in case you're a large corporation - then of course you're off the hook for paying any kind of taxes in effect, much less any fair share of them. Day care providers have to pay taxes on their business, so I'm not sure why farmers wouldn't. Not big enough to buy law-makers, not small enough to get that we're all in this together, looks like. Too bad, looks like a nice place. But we won't be spending any of our $ to support these kind of business people, who have no regard for their workers and resent paying taxes in their community. read more

OK folks! After hearing about this place from friends and family, we decided to make the journey down south. We arrive around 6pm Saturday night. We had a group of us, which included 5 teenage girls, with a couple boyfriends, etc. The place was pretty busy and parking was difficult to get. We got in line for our tickets, and was told the price was $10 per person after 6pm. I was a bit taken back by this, since we had a group total of 10 people, which obviously cost me $100 to get them all in. After checking the maze maps, and the various entry points, we decided to try them all out. You can basically get through each maze in 20-30 minutes or less. The thrill factor was about lack luster as you can get. Just a simple dirt path through 8" tall corn stalks with really nothing to make it more exciting. The haunted maze was located across the way from the regular corn mazes, and that didn't open until 7:30pm. After doing all the regular mazes, we decided to get some snacks and a hotdog, come to find out, they were sold out of hotdogs, grilled corn on the cob and more.. WTF? All they had some bags of chips ($1 each) and bottled drinks. The temp outside was 49 degrees! And they are selling cold pop? As the daylight ran out, we decided to get in line for the haunted maze... of course, everyone else did too! The line was rediculous.... then to top it off, they only allowed 5 or 6 people at a time to go through it... so, after standing in line, in 48 degree weather, for 45 minutes, only 1/4 of the line moved through this damn thing. For $10 a person, I felt I pissed away my money!! The only activities to do here are the regular corn mazes, the haunted one (if you can even get in) and that's it... OH WAIT, they had a face painting booth! Oh boy! And of course, that was more money! To sum this up: $10 a person, to walk around a simple, no thrills corn maze, then to find out all the hot good food to be sold out, and left with 45+ minutes of standing in line for the haunted maze, only to simply say, "eff it" it's not worth waiting another 60-90 minutes to get in, we all left. $100+ dollars later and completely pissed off. THIS PLACE IS OVER RATED!!! Trust me, go try it out, and find out how much money is going to be pissed away vs your fun satisfaction level. Epic failure of a corn maze outfit. We were not impressed at all, and really, this place could have the potential for so much more, yet fails epic style for the dollars spent. Won't be back, period. read more

It is easy enough to get to this place, but boy is it crowded. My family and I waited in the freezing cold for two hours waiting to get in. With the price they charge, they can afford some outdoor space heaters for those waiting in line. Was it scary? Not anyone in my family thought so, but I heard some girls screaming. We've been coming to the haunted maze the past three years. The first year was a blast. The second year they introduced zombie paintball which was a BLAST (pun there). 2015, though, may be our last. We waited in lines FOREVER just to find that the maze had less than half the number of people working to scare. We would walk so long without being scared that we were bored stupid. Zombie paintball was a JOKE. The "zombies" were lazy and stood just out of reach of the paint balls. It was nothing like the year before where they ran toward and after the tractor. SUCH a bummer. I have been to the corn maze several times but this last time was not a good experience at all. We arrived at 9 pm and got into the line for one of the events, we stood in line for almost three hours for the event which lasted about 10 minutes at the most. We did not even get a chance to do the other attractions. I do want to say the staff was very friendly and did give us our money back. I feel like it needs to have more organization and keep track of how many tickets are sold for each attraction to help make it run more smoothly. read more

The haunted maze isn't too scary, seeing as I brought a six year old through it and he didn't freak out too bad, but it isn't lame either. The non-haunted maze was trashed when I went there last weekend. Almost as if all they cared about was collecting entrance fees and did not care what you did after that. Simple maze maintenance daily could have kept the damage down. Or even more staff to police the place. People were plowing through making their own paths and throwing whole corn at random people. The answer was to send 2 little kids out to police the out of control teenagers. The fire pit area was not designed correctly to handle all the people there and they had no concept of crowd control when it came to the haunted line. Think I'll try another one next year. read more

Arrived at 7pm and got an early place in the Zombie Paintball line. We were in the first 50 people in line. The Zombie Maze opened at 8pm. It is 9:30pm and we are still waiting in line. The line is huge and barely moving. They are running low on air for the paint ball guns. Poor planning for the weekend before Halloween. There is not enough staff here running things. There is no one getting people organized to get on the Zombie PB tractor. It's a bit of a mess. Went and waited again in line to get a hot chocolate. Only one person running the refreshment line. Finally made it to the front of this line and they were out of hot water. The fire pit was cool. Bottom line: don't recommend!!! Only stayed because of our 10 year old. read more

Our family had a awesome time here Oct 30th 2015. Best place in town for Halloween fun, pumpkin patch and of course their awesome yearly design changing corn maze. All the local teens know this is the place for Halloween excitement. A must for fall family fun, but get there early before all the teens in town take over. They did a remarkable job executing and organizing the haunted corn maze and zombie paint ball. I don't think Rutledge Corn Maze LLC was expecting so many people this Halloween season. I hope next year they have more staff to accommodate the mass of kids, families and teens eagerly wanting to take part in their scary Halloween fun. read more
