The most wonderful lavender farm!! Keith and Tracy pour every ounce of them into Loblolly. This was their first year open to the public and did a marvelous job. And the festival.. The community has been waiting for so long in excitement and boy did they show up! It was an exciting day, filled with local businesses coming together, the community showing their support, and more. They had over 3,000 visitors, so it was very busy - in a good way! Most of the vendors (small businesses local to wa/oly) sold out. The lavender booth was slammed all day and sold out of many products! It was very cool to look out and see everyone enjoying their time together in the sun and flowers. If you are not fond of lines or crowds, visit them on a regular public day next year. You wont be disappointed!

Beautiful fun place to visit! The owners are so very friendly and welcoming! Fair prices and nice selection of lavender items as well a cold drinks! The drive to get there is through peaceful countryside near the Olympia area.

And Lora Lee's was the perfect place to break my streak! It's only 45 minutes from Seattle, in an idyllic setting, with friendly staff and a ton of vibrant, cheery sunflowers. We did the sunflower maze which was beautiful and not hard. There are lots of bees but they don't really care about people--they're busy with the flowers! They also have a little stand with shave ice, coffee and snacks and some tables and chairs so you can sit and relax in the lovely setting. I believe they rotate sunflower maze locations--the one we went to was a bit of a walk. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes, as the ground is a little bumpy. I definitely want to add Lora Lee's into my flower-pilgrimage rotation!

The owner described the farm as being more accessible for visitors who aren't able to make the trek out to Sequim. While Crescent Valley was one of the smaller lavender farms that I've been to, it was definitely the most personable. The owner himself gave us an informative tour around the farm and showed us the differences between lavender that is used for culinary and fragrance purposes. They also have a mini shop on-site with a variety of items, including soaps, lotions, shaving cream and more. The farm also makes beautiful hand-woven lavender wreathes starting at $40. If you're the more adventurous type however, Crescent Valley has u-pick lavender available at $7 a bundle. In comparison to other farms, I appreciated that all the rows were open to u-pick instead of just two or three rows. We got to mix-and-match from the rows and I went home with a generous bundle of fragrant and culinary lavender. Last but not least, they have an online parking ticket & reservation system in place due to COVID. Be sure to check their site first before heading over!

To get here from Seattle you have to take the Fauntleroy ferry to Vashon Island but we headed there pretty early in the morning and we had no problems getting onto the ferry with our car (On the way back from Vashon however, we saw a bunch of people heading to Vashon in the afternoon. The ferry line for vehicles was crazy backed up, so I would not recommend going too late!) After arriving at Vashon, it's about 20 or so minutes to the Lavender Hill Farm. This place is super cute! From what I could observe, it looks like a beautiful private residence with its own little giant farm attached. What made this place stand out from the rest is that there were so many varieties of lavender that I had never heard of before. They had some interns there, helping to pick lavender and make bouquets/wreaths who did a great job of educating us on the different types of smelling lavender and cooking lavender. They also had a bunch of premade lavender products. Personally, I always go for the little lavender bags and use them in my laundry -- they last forever, and they smelled great. They had these scented roller balls each with a different type of lavender, it smelled absolutely amazing. If I am remembering correctly, there were also lotions, balms, incense, even pre-cut cooking lavender, and I believe there was even lavender soda for sale. I was able to purchase everything easily using contactless pay. I believe I had a conversation with the owner of the farm (not 100% on that though) and she was quite lovely. This place is dog friendly as you can see from my pictures, however, they also have a farm dog of their own so just be mindful of that. If you love to Instagram, or taking pictures, this place is definitely for you -- and if you like lavender, of course, you should definitely come here! It seems like their season has already ended so I'm guessing it's open for a very short window in the early summer, but if you have the opportunity to go next summer, I would recommend it!

My wife, Peggy, and I started this farm back in 2009 after our 1st visit to Sequim in 2008. Well looking over the bright purple fields and seeing all the happy bees and happy people surrounding lavender, we thought maybe we could bring this same feeling to Olympia. Since we had a 4 acre piece of property, and I didn't want to mow it all the time, we were looking for something unique for people to come and enjoy. Peggy did a lot of research and tried to find a grower that had plants that would survive in this area. We settled on Lavender at Stonegate from Silverton, Oregon. Sarah, was amazing and she turned us on to 12 beautiful varieties of lavender. We mostly grow True English lavenders but we also have hybrids, that are known for their size, scent and oil content. Our English variety, Royal Velvet, is extremely popular with cooks, distillers, bakers and chocolatiers. Our hybrid lavender's, or lavandins, are used for large bouquets and for their aromatic essential oil. We steam-distill many of our plants here on the property. They have been acclaimed to be some of the very best essential oils that people have ever used. Peggy fills our gift shoppe with body soothing products and lovely sachets, eye pillows and warmable neck wraps. We think the best thing about coming to our farm, is that people can escape the rigors of city life and sit back and just relax.

The parking lot for pickers is just north of the address on Yelp but they had plenty of signs that made it easy to find. You have to go down a gravel road to get there so keep that in mind if you don't want your car getting dirty. They had quite a few rows of strawberries for picking, and had 4 different varieties available. We also saw some apple trees where the apples were growing for picking in the fall and some peach trees. They also have veggies to pick but we didn't walk that far back. A lot of the strawberry plants had been pretty picked over but still had plenty of fruit if you pulled up the leaves and looked. We ended up picking about 3 lbs of fruit to take home. The fields are super dusty so make sure to wear sneakers you don't care about because they will get covered in dirt. We enjoyed a relaxing time picking berries and enjoying the beautiful views. The scent hit us--warm, sweet, and sun-soaked and in that instant, we knew we were exactly where we were meant to be. No one can convince me there's a better smell on this planet than fresh strawberries in the summer breeze. Not rain, not bread, not even raspberries--though those came in close second. Bailey's Farm is a dream. My mom and I spent the afternoon picking strawberries and raspberries together, surrounded by blooming fields and buzzing bees. The strawberries were bright red, perfectly ripe, and so fragrant it felt like walking through a natural perfume. That smell alone could heal your entire nervous system. The raspberries were generous and delicious too, but it was the strawberries that made time stop. We picked slowly, laughed often, and let the wind guide us from row to row. It wasn't just a farm--it was a pause button in the middle of our road trip, and a memory I'll hold close forever. The only thing that could use improvement is the parking lot. The entrance and exit are one-way, but it's not clearly marked. It's a small detail, but clearer signage would make arrival smoother. Still, nothing compares to stepping out of the car and into that scent. Bailey's Farm gives you more than berries--it gives you a reason to breathe deeper. And I already can't wait to go back.

It is a stark contrast from the consumerist drudgery, hyper-stimulation, and quotidian violence of the modern U.S. market-scape which has metastasized like a bad rash over the land. An alternative way of relating to strangers and community members alike, around long wooden tables, listening to local folk performers stirs up a sense of communality from long-ago genetic and cultural memories. Eating good food, and drinking from a curated collection of ciders each infused and brewed slightly differently makes you feel "rich" in the true sense of humanity and wellbeing. I recommend this unusual vision of communal gathering -- where you can wander between wooden beam-constructed huts in which various food vendors are selling specialty items, then gather to sit down and eat in a large tent. Here you can also enjoy open farm vistas, and explore some planted rows. There is whimsical art festooned around the collection of low-slung huts. The ground is not paved so you can feel as if you are in touch with the earth. My food choice was a bahn mi sandwich which was excellently executed with toasted bread, both tasty and filling. It used a tempeh made with wheat grown in Chimacum itself. It had beautifully pickled daikon, carrots, and cilantro while the mayo was warming. Missing jalapenos were compensated for with chili sauces that you could custom add. I washed this down with a small six ounce glass of a mix of ciders because I couldn't decide my favorite flavors (strawberry infused cider was my jam that day). Be aware that food vendors will be different depending on the day of your visit. I feel that the care & finesse with which the bahn mi was executed is an indication of the high caliber of curated, prepared food available for purchase at this "farm" experience.
