We got here shortly after 10am and that was the perfect time to come, there was only one other family picking blueberries and plenty of bushes to give us space. When you get here you pick out a bucket (freshly sanitized) and then you walk down to the blueberry bushes where you can pick blueberries until your heart is happy and bucket is full. Then you walk back up to where you parked and give the people working your bucket with all your pickings, they weigh it and you pay. FYI I'm glad I looked before coming but it's cash only so come prepared and please when you're around others make sure to have your mask. It's easy, fun and gives the kids some sort of summer memories even with covid going on. And let me tell you these blueberries from here are delicious.

The market is clean, well organized, and even has clean public restrooms, which is always appreciated. One of the highlights of my visit was Perkins Family Farms. I had the pleasure of meeting Llewyn Merrill, the sales manager, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He freshly shucked oysters for us right on the spot for only $3 each, and there was no minimum order. The oysters were fresh, delicious, and definitely worth trying. We also picked up several baked goods, including the cheese bread and a plain croissant, both of which were very good. The cheese bread had great flavor, although it was a little chewy, likely because it had been baked earlier that morning. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at the Olympia Farmers Market. There was an impressive selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, berries, mushrooms, seafood, flowers, local crafts, and other unique products. The friendly vendors and welcoming atmosphere made this an enjoyable visit from start to finish. I highly recommend stopping by, especially to visit Perkins Family Farms for their outstanding fresh oysters and excellent customer service. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Olympia!

Their produce is so fresh and as local as they can get it! Oh and they have fresh big bags of basil and mint for like $2! Which is great because I just keep killing the ones I grow somehow. I've never gotten sick from eating their produce, as I do from some of the store's produce, like Safeway's apples. One thing to remember - bring your own bag/box. Sometimes they have extra boxes. And the other thing is - if you're only pick up a couple of things for tonight's dinner, bring cash! You can't use your debit/credit card unless it's over $5, which my orders usually are! They also, usually, have some past-its-prime produce that's heavily discounted! These are great buys to put in smoothies or eat within a day or so. I once got a personal-sized watermelon for $0.50 from that area and it was fabulous! Right now they have eggplants and melons in this area. It changes all the time! This is a great place to go for some beef sticks, they have many different kinds. All locally made. Most just $1.75 and super tasty!!! The cream of their crop (in my opinion) is their housemade Pico de Gallo and Guacamole! You can thank me later for that tip!! Lots of times I go there and they are all sold out of these gems. They are uneven sizes, red, succulent and unbelievable. These are not berries that ship well. They have to be consumed or preserved that day. Their Sungold raspberries that show up early in the season never make it past the city limits. The short marionberry season is something to look forward to if you buy them from Johnsons. Combined with the new Tillamook sweet cream premium ice cream the berries are a 10 when they hit your tastebuds. I usually hit them up at the Olympia farmers market and the only downside is that mom is militant about only pointing to (and not touching) the baskets of berries. Mom needs to take advantage of the legal pot in the state. Her daughter is fine and welcoming and recognizes regular customers without the militant nature. If you see the Sungold raspberries, be prepared for me to fight you for them, unless you are under 10 years old.

They delivered "top soil" to me. I thought it was strange that I kept finding partially burnt…read moremagazine pages in it as I spread it out. Fast forward to a year later and nothing likes growing in it. I looked up if top soil could be fake and learned it is common (negligent practice) to use burnt material and sand to make it look black like top soil, but the burnt material is actually the wrong chemical make up for growing most plants. I purchased it specifically for planting. Such a waist of money and now I have to remove it or work to amend the soil. Costing more money. I feel like the driver knew because he asked me where I was putting it and was like, "that should work." I was none the wiser. :(
