For date night, my husband and I popped into Rusty's Neighbourhood Pub, partially lured by their "Happy Hour Drinks All Day Sunday" offer. We found out half the restaurant was sectioned off to host a 50+ person company holiday party, and staff were dealing with the remnants of the local parade that had just concluded. One waitress was dealing with the party, while two other ladies were dashing around trying to handle the rest of the restaurant. The kitchen was backed up because of the party and the parade goers so it ended up being close to a 45 minute wait for our food (the waitress repeatedly apologized for the wait). Gave me plenty of time to watch the football game on the many TVs, and admire the decor. Clean, medium to dark wood, leaning towards minimal decor. It was certainly the type of place backed up the name: clean neighbourhood pub and even kids were welcome inside. Food finally arrived! Husband had the Black & Blue burger. From my vantage point, it looked pretty good with french fries deep fried to a nice light golden hue. It looked smaller compared to my monstrosity Turkey & Brie, and he wished there was a stronger blue cheese taste. I was pleased with the size of the Turkey & Brie sandwich, it was HUGE as far as sandwiches go. A pile of Turkey meat, thick slices of Brie (which I barely tasted, but I attribute that to Brie having a naturally subtle taste) and a nice balance of cranberry sauce and mayo in the sandwich. Points there. I was a little less impressed with the fries, it was darker and crispier. The kitchen staff were probably rushing around trying to fill the orders; I imagined my fries sat in the fryer for a little too long. Given how busy it was that night, I could understand. My husband and I also had to try the mini donuts. They came out sprinkled a heavy dose of cinnamon and chocolate dipping sauce on the side. However the donuts didn't satisfy the feelings of nostalgia... after our first donut, we realized they were like my fries; tasted a bit burnt underneath all of the cinnamon sprinkle. The waitress kept apologizing for the long wait for our food, and ended up making the donuts complimentary, and hoped we would give their place another chance. I think I may pass on the mini donuts on future visits, but in all honest I don't see why I wouldn't try their place again. read more

If you are a lover of Guinness draught, be aware that this pub will charge you almost as much for a 16-oz as you would pay for a 20-oz elsewhere. Apparently, they no longer serve 20-oz. I would rather get a full size glass of Guinness for 9.50 - 11.00 than a mini Guinness for 9.00. read more

My elderly mother came here recently and had dinner with friends. She paid her bill with our shared credit card and I just received the statement with a fraudulent charge from this restaurant/bar. She ordered the fish and chips which would equate to a bill less than $30 including tip. The charge on our statement is over $100! I am disputing the entire fraudulent charge! I read a recent review with a similar experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone! SHAME ON THIS BUSINESS OWNER AND MANAGEMENT FOR ALLOWING THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY! read more

Came here to support a good cause. Friends were having a fundraiser and apparently this 'pub' does a lot of this type of events. I use the word pub loosely here, because they had no problem with children running throughout the premises, so I'm not sure if that still qualifies as an actual pub. The tickets were $25 and included a burger and a beer or wine. I sure hope the charity made a lot on the ticket because the food and drink was pitiful. Service was terrible. It appeared there was only one waitress assigned to the fundraiser area and that was definitely not enough. The area blocked off for the ticket holders was also not nearly big enough for the number of tickets sold. Given the place 'does this all the time ' and they were informed in advance how many tickets were sold this seemed dodgy. The wine they served was the worst headache inducing plonk, while the beer was a choice of Coors, Canadian, or an undefined Pilsner. The burgers were dry at best and burnt at worst. Our waitress walked away from our table several times while we were still trying to order. She'd take one person's order and leave without asking if anyone else wanted anything even when someone else at the table was trying to get her attention. Staff routinely removed half full drinks from tables if left unguarded. They removed plates of food in the same way, without asking if anyone was done. I saw customers cleaning their own tables in a way that made me think it wasn't the first time. I doubt I will return. read more

Absolutely terrible service!! Walked in Friday for a meal with my wife, sat at a table( no signs saying I can not or event going on ). Waitress approached and asked if we were with fundraiser and we said no. She pointed to the otherside ( pub side ) and said very rudely that we can't be there and get to the other side. When we went to otherside ( now 6:30pm), of the 6 empty tables.....ALL said reserved till 7pm !! First time there and I will never return!! When I called the Manager, she just brushed me off !! Waitress was stiff. When we asked for ranch dressing with our wings on wing "night". Single Caesar drink, short, no tabasco was tasteless. When giving change for a $100 on a $37 bill the waitress tried to tip herself $20 plus dollars and was disgruntled when she was called out for it. A local neighborhood pub as their name would say, lots of locals come here as their usual watering hole. Inside is a bit dark but follows the them of a western saloon. This pub does allow children so a great choice for families looking for a quick bite and beer. Food here was good, though some are hit and miss. Crispy Chicken Sandwich with chipotle slaw, bacon, tomato, jack cheese, chili aioli, lettuce, kaiser: This was very well done, perfectly fried chicken, crispy and flavorful. Meat to bun ratio was good. Fried were crispy and seasoned well. Doc Holiday burger which comes with 6OZ bbq beef burger, cheddar cheese, hickory bacon with Lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. This was a bit under whelming, i expected much better quality patty as it looked and tasted like something that was frozen/pre packaged. French Onion Soup: Very basic soup but definitely left us questioning the price they were charging. At $11 i would have expect a larger portion as well as a better executed dish. The soup was overly sweet and strong taste of rosemary. All which are fine for this soup but it lack the depth and richness of a proper base broth. Would not order this one again thats for sure. read more

We LOVE coming here! It's a great space, friendly staff and customers - and the food is always good. Our favourites include the Wonton Soup (I always ask for additional wonton), the Fajitas (both the steak and chicken are good) and the seafood pasta (that's not what they call it - but you'll figure it out when you see the menu. And our favourite server is Teresa.... We love her to death, she is the best! read more

The service was great, our waiter was very nice and attentive. We ordered fish and chips and they were very heavy and greasy. My cocktails were good but I'm disappointed in the small selection of cocktails. They have a really nice bar and only 4 cocktails to choose from the menu. If they had a bigger selection of cocktails I feel they would have a lot more customers come in. read more

we Arriced at 6 pm on October 25 for dinner. we went to the left side and was told very rudely by a waitress wearing glasses and said we can't sit here it's for a fundraiser then points to go to the other side. no apologies or anything she had a disgusting look on her face. we said it would have been nice if there was a sign. so we go to the other side and no tables available even though there was at least 4 tables vacant but they all said reserved. we left and will never come back and people think twice in going you will never get a seat and the service will suck. read more

Since I don't live out in the Cloverdale area, this was my first time at Rusty's. I was here for my little cousins sports team fundraiser. I can comment on the Chicken Burger which I thought was completely bizarre. It has chicken wings for chicken. It wasn't bad but not something I would write home about. I was able to get virgin Caesars without complaint, which was nice since I was driving. All in all it was ok but I definitely wont be going there anytime soon, unless for a family fundraiser. read more

Service was very slow, food not very good (me: fish and chips, husband: Ruben. Beer: dark lager: very good. Mon. night football (Am.) was on and was very loud especially the speakers vibrating the room. Server was nice. Thought fish would be fresh b/c of the area being close to the ocean and maybe it was but it didn't seem like it to me. Outside smelled like sewer so that was off putting. read more

Five stars for Jacqueline and her karaoke! Awesome singers here. The atmosphere is really nice and there is a separate section for those who do not wish to be serenaded. Food isn't the best though, no cheese pretty much on my quesadilla so it just fell apart :/ but the spinach dip was pretty good! read more

My husband and I went to the fundraiser, tonight, with the expectation of having a good time. We decided to donate money and buy our dinners at regular price so everyone benefited. That was a huge mistake! First, we ordered the Friday night special: steak and prawns. Terrible! Steak had no flavour. Tasted like it was thawed. Potato was three times the size of the steak. I asked if there were topping for the potato. Yes, butter and sour cream. No butter on it and about a tbsp of sour cream. Asked for sour cream and butter. Waitress put finger in the sour cream (by mistake) so had to get me another. Charged for three sides. Butter wasn't even butter, but the sauce you use for garlic toast. Prawns were good. Vegetable was ok. Second, asked for desert menu. No menu. Server described the two deserts, no price. Ordered the cheesecake. Shocked to see it was $9.00 when we got the bill. Ridiculous! Third, when I questioned the server about the three sides she argued with me. She did change the bill and only charged for one side. This was my first and last time going to your pub. I will not be recommending Rusty's to anyone. I really hope you improve your food and service, for your sake. One unhappy customer! read more

So kudos to allowing families to enjoy pub atmosphere like the Europeans do. We stopped in for brunch. What was attractive was the $4 classic breakfast. Service was good. The server was great with the kids, and the breakfast was pretty standard for the $4 weekend breakfasts. I only gave 3 stars as the hashbrowns were those shredded type which we aren't much of a fan of. If it weren't for the hashbrowns we would have given a 4. read more

Meh food, lousy service. We were in there when it was quiet, you'd think we'd get better service but nope. The bartender had to come out from behind the bar to bus our plates and get us more beer when our server was nowhere to be found. There were maybe four tables in the pub side so I'm not seeing why our server was MIA.....both times we were there it was the same deal. Doubt I'll be back. Very disappointing. Went there for the first time on Saturday for a fundraiser, there was 10 of us at the table. 3 of us sent our beef burgers back. They were burnt to a crisp, 1 took a bite and couldn't eat it. The other 2 who had the beef burger were super disappointed as well. Told the waitress, she gave me another burger which was as bad as the first so I didn't eat it. You'd think the manager would come by to apologize and see if we wanted anything else but no. The manager didn't come over to speak to us at all. Will never go back. read more

A really great neighbor hood pub!!! They really made some fantastic changes in the last couple years! I had the Thai chili chicken and the spin dip one night with some friends and it was awesome we finished every bite! On another night we had the spicy chicken club and nachos and both were huge for portion size and just tasted awesome!! Definitely be coming back again. read more

The fish tacos there are something you can really set your watch to. Beer isn't overpriced and the draughts are perfect and clean so you don't get a splitting headache from them. The servers are all very nice and seem legitimately happy to see you, even if they're faking it because you're an annoying patron. Big place and easy to find a place to sit. There's even couches to sit on if you're feeling like a nap or have haemorrhoids. 5/5, would party there again. read more

This review would have been 4 stars until yesterday. The food is consistent, not great but okay. The beer is cold, good pricing and pretty decent service. Where they have totally messed it up is in the fact that the "pub" now allows families with screaming children on the restaurant side of the pub until 10pm. It wasn't great when it was until 7pm but we could handle it. But now, having screaming children running around at a place where you want to grab a bite to eat, a couple of drinks, watch some sports and perhaps have a conversation... When did this become acceptable? There is Boston Pizza. Or Dennys. Better yet, McDonalds. People can't drink and drive their children anyway, so why are they ruining the adult atmosphere that we used to enjoy? Why is the management of this place kicking its loyal patrons out with this practice? Very disappointed. The food is not worth 45 minutes of "Mommeeeee!" screams. read more

Came all the way down there to meet people for a birthday dinner at 5:30 to find out that on the only section that teenagers can go is closed and all tables taken for a fundraiser. I'm all for a good fundraisers. So I asked the manager why every table was taken aNd explained why we were there he just said that they always have these fundraisers almost every weekend and he takes 130 guaranteed seats to just regular people who walk in. I felt insulted and was not happy to hear his lame excuse and uncaring attitude. So we will not be back there again. This used to be a good pub, good food, good price. Well, the price is still pretty good, that's all. I was there is July and I won't be back again. The food was not good, the fries were dried out or something and the burger was jsut barely ok! THe service, or total lack of it, was the biggest problem.
