We were stuck with a contaminated DEF fuel issue in our truck while traveling from Indiana to South Carolina. Mid point in our trip we stayed in a campground near I-75 and Seviers Highway, but in the morning, we were stuck. We headed to Rusty Wallace service department and they have been working with us. Very accommodating staff, they gave us rides to and from our hotel each day and also allowed us to store the camper while waiting. It's a big and expensive repair, which stinks, but the Rusty Wallace service team has been great. The truck is not yet fixed but we're home from our trip and will head back when it's finished. read more

Long Post TLDR: A bunch of liars trying to get you to buy a vehicle and the salesmen don't care at all about after care helping make sure you got everything you needed. Awful place. After a rough experience at Reeder Chevrolet, my wife and I stopped by Rusty Wallace Chevrolet in Clinton--and we're glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the difference was clear. James, Jackson, and the new GM, Jimmy, were all incredible to work with. No pressure, no gimmicks- just honest people who actually care about helping you find the right vehicle. They let us take our time, test drive the truck, and didn't try to push us into buying it the same day. We found a truck we really liked, went home to think it over, and came back the next day to purchase it. The whole process felt comfortable and respectful, and that made all the difference for us. EDIT: after purchasing the truck it was fighting tooth and nail to get any quality service. The finance manager, James, LIED to my face they were extremely insistent that my disabled veteran plates could be transferred. After a week I get standard plates then have to go in person to the county clerk to pay yet another fee and spend time there, they stated that it is seldom possible (I am fairly new to Tennessee and having specialty plates). I WAS VERY INSISTENT that we saw two fobs for the truck. I was shooed away with one and then I kept bugging the sales rep. He tried shooing me off saying most used vehicles don't come with a spare key (which in my experience is not the case especially with new used vehicles) then he was able to find it and tried acting like he had done me a deed when I dropped tens of thousands of dollars on a truck and had to stay on this guy to get it. The dealer did not want to give me a military discount which just rubbed me the wrong way. Overall they get you in the door and then any issues or concerns after the fact they don't care whatsoever. read more

My wife, dog, and I were traveling from Lexington KY to Atlanta GA on Monday January 23 when I received a message on my dashboard stating that I had 6 miles before my truck's speed would be limited to 65 mph. I was near Clinton TN and called Rusty Wallace Chevrolet to see if they could look at my truck. Emily, one of the service writers readily agreed to diagnose the issue. When we arrived at the service department we were immediately welcomed and troubleshooting began, even though it was lunchtime. After troubleshooting, it was determined that my DEF heater had failed. They were able to replace the DEF tank that afternoon and allowed us to return home the same day. The staff was excellent throughout the day, even sitting down to play with our dog. I would highly recommend Rusty Wallace Chevrolet service. read more

Complete waste of time with these jokers. Only reason I made the drive was they had the color vehicle I preferred over another dealer. Informed them I had a deal in place so they needed to get into the price range. They play the game of sales going to talk to manager game back and forth only to come up with a price $2k above a Knoxville dealer. Only difference in trucks were color. They spent more time trying to figure out what I was looking at the other dealer than looking at themselves. I finally left Next day, they have the balls to call me and ask me what I thought of the truck last night. Told them truck was great, price not close to where they had to be. Informed me they dropped it another thousand. I ask why they did not do that last night? No answer. Still a thousand to high. Seriously? This dealership currently has a 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 priced at almost $5,000.00 The current value of this vehicle is between $2,000.00 and $2,5000.00. The dealership has the vehicle priced more than double the value of the car. The excuse I was given was that the previous owner may have been given a bit more on the trade-in and they are trying to get back what they have in the vehicle. The truth would be that I doubt a trade-in credit of more than $500.00 was applied on that purchase and the dealer is simply wanting to find someone stupid enough to pay $5,000.00 for a car that is in good shape, albeit 26 years old. The sad part is that some idiot will pay that much and be very disappointed. read more

The wife and I just purchased a 2020 Blazer. We got off to a bumpy start, but our sales person Tyler was great and pushed right on through and got us the deal we wanted. My thanks to Tyler for all his hard work on getting this done and to the managers to help him get this deal done. We love the new Blazer. Update after 9 months and a total of 18000 miles our tires are worn out. The dealership said that the tires came from the manufacture and there was nothing they could do. They tried saying that the tires were wearing unevenly and said it needed a front end alignment. another person said the tires were wearing evenly ad the a frontend alignment was not the issue. My wife talked to Blake who said he would call the tire manufacture and see if they would do anything. That has been nearly 2 weeks and we have heard nothing. This tells me this dealership only stands behind the parts of the product that they want and not the vehicle as a whole. It doesn't matter to me if the tires were put on at the factory or not the product is sold to the dealership and the dealership should be willing to fix the tires on a new vehicle. Its a sad day when you pay over 30k for a new car and have to turn around 9 months (18000 miles) late and spend 600 to 800 on tires. Don't get me wrong they should eat the coat of new tires but we should be allowed to get a new set of good tires (50k or 60k mile )for 200. A deal something like that would I feel satisfy both parties. As long as Rusty Wallace dealerships refuse to take responsibility for the vehicles they sell I will take my money else where, and guess what. Its time for a new truck for daddy. Took my vehicle that is still under warranty there to be repaired . Had to take it twice cause they had to order parts . The second time I took it was on a Friday at 8am never heard a word from them. Saturday rolled around called them around noon told tHem I needed the car back before Monday . They ssaid ok we're working on it . Closing time rolls around and didn't hear a word from them. Their customer service is horrible. A simple phone call to let someone know what's going on goes a long way. I'll never go back here or recommend them to anyone. read more

John Rulapaugh, the "internet sales manager" had me drive all the way to Clinton from Lenoir City for a vehicle that I was looking for, a 2007 Toyota Highlander. Upon arrival, this "manager" realized they had sold the vehicle, already. I wasted an entire day on this place and am now being called constantly, with John now trying to convince me to buy a high-mileage car of a make and model I have no interest in. This was by far the worst dealership I've ever walked into no competent salesman apparently and they definitely know nothing about taking care of the customers at their establishment. My wife and I called the dealership specifically wanting a certain vehicle. We told this salesman to book our appointment to run the numbers and do we need to put a deposit down on it. The salesman Clay Foust told us that we were the first booked to see it on appointment and it wouldn't be necessary. We went to the dealership only to find out Clay had already sat down with another customer to run the numbers and decided he was goin to have us wait and see if the new buyer could purchase the vehicle. Thank you Clay for being the two faced crook of a salesman you are and working for a no count dealership that turns their back on their customers and doesn't follow policies. You've made me a stay away customer for life and I really will enjoy telling all the people in Clinton about your practices. I recently visited the service department and had a horrible experience! The only person in the whole dealership that was truthful and honest was the gentleman in service that I spoke to face-to-face. The technicians have no idea what they're doing and management won't even call me back. The poorest of customer service! They gave me a loaner car both times I took my truck in but both loaner cars were disgustingly dirty inside! The technician told me that because my truck didn't show any fault codes they could not figure out what was wrong with it so they told me to come and get it. I have never been treated so poorly and lied to so much from a dealership in all my life. Don't waste your time going there. I ended up after taking my truck there for the same problem twice taking it to Reeders Chevrolet and they fixed the problem in 45 minutes. We were traveling I75 thru Knoxville area when our Chev. Equinox developed a serious problem and went down. Had to be towed over 30 miles to this dealership. I was expecting the same cold reception one normally receives at a big city new car dealership. Especially when they did not sell you the car. What a surprise! We were greeted as if they knew us and were their customers. They were so kind to us after the traumatic experience we had just been thru on the highway. Unfortunately, the car had to be left. We were 250 miles from home. A rental car was quickly arranged by Mary Ann; very compassionate service advisor. We were on our way home in great time. The car was repaired in a few days and arrangements were made to have it trucked back to our home in Cincinnati. Ron, service manger, kept in contact with me the entire time. Letting me know all they were doing. This dealership is a hidden gem sitting in the mountains. If we were closer to them, I would not go anywhere else. DECEITFUL ! - PUSHY ! -SCHEMERS ! - DISHONEST ! - SHADY ! - FRAUDULENT ! - UNSCUPULOUS ! This is how I would describe my experience with RW Chevrolet. At first when they contacted me after I did internet inquiry to get a special "EPRICE" on a car, I really thought this was going to be the best dealership to work with & buy a car from. I have an unusual situation when it comes to the financing, there's been very few (3) dealerships I've contacted that's been willing to work with me & RW Chevrolet was one of those. The salesman I had was John.They were very positive they could make things work and it seemed like they were trying really hard. I got the call, they worked it out so I ask what the monthly payment would be, he gave me an amount that was almost $200 more than it should've been. I was blown away. I figured with my situation it might be a little higher but not that much higher. I told him I could not do that. Then I received a call from someone named Shannon or as I like to call him, THE SNAKE IN THE GRASS ! He was one of those fast talking, pushy, dishonest, wont take no for an answer, that will brow beat you and guilt into a deal that you have repeatedly told him you cant afford. In my conversation with Shannon he gave two different amounts they were giving me for my trade. He told me one amount and less than 2 minutes later my husband came thru the door & I tried telling him the deal they had came up with. It was on speakerphone & Shannon just cut me right off. He then tells a much higher amount im getting for the trade (talking 90mph like he's jacked up on something).Every chance we could get a word in we told him we couldn't afford a payment like that but it was like we never said a word. He goes on & on about how hard they've worked on this. During all this ranting he calls off the car price for some reason but the price he said was more than what the regular price was on the website (they never did send me the special "EPRICE"). When I ask him about it he said he was giving me more than my car was worth so he had to up the price of the car to make up for it and that way it would look like I was putting a bigger down payment on the car. I ask several times what all the actual amounts are (car price, trade-in, dealers fees, taxes, title fees, interest rates & the length of the loan) & he wouldn't tell me. He just kept going on & on about how hard they've worked on this & would not except the answer "I CANNOT AFFORD A PAYMENT LIKE THAT" He continued this until I started crying & agreed to come get the car knowing I could afford it. That finally got me off the phone with him. I then email John, the salesman, & told him I wasn't coming. After sending that they started calling me again but I didn't answer. First thing Monday morning I email John again & ask him to send me the info on the financing, a breakdown of everything & how it came to that payment amount. He hasn't & wont give me that info. Am I not the one who would have to make that payment ? Am I not entitled to that info ? I checked my credit after this & I have 5 NEW HARD INQUIRIES from this & one of them showed up as a mortgage loan. This dropped my score by over 20 points. Now Ive called the General Manager, Mark Trout, or something like that. I told him this whole story & told him I wanted the info on the financing. He said he would get that together and call me back in a few minutes. Haven't heard a word back. Later that evening I did get a call from John, the salesman. He ask me if I would use him to get me in a different car. I replied "not" & that's all he let me get out. He said "well have a good day then" & hung up on me. I was going to say "not if all the terms and fees of the financing are going to be withheld from me" . That's the last contact Ive had with the dealership. The whole thing just seems shady, dishonest and not very forthcoming to me. One thing that was said to me in the very first conversation was "WE ARE A FULL DISCLOSURE DEALERSHIP".
