Rusty Tractor in Elma, WA
Maureen M.

Trip advisor and Yelp hyped this place as the place to stop on the way to the Oregon coast. (Some of the reviews are a bit over the top-- and make me suspicious...) Anyway, Rusty Tractor did the trick for lunch on the way from Seattle to Cannon Beach. I will say that the cinnamon roll was mighty tasty. (We weren't brave enough to try the "rattlesnake eggs" listed on the menu.) It's just off of route 12 in Elma, WA. (*We did happen to see a couple of cool vintage cars in the parking lot-- later in Cannon Beach we'd see a police escort (!) lead a parade of at least 20 of them on the way to a car show in Seaside. Quite a site to see!!)

lots of waiting, i think they may be short staffed. but our server was nice. the inside is really cute and cozy. the food was kind of bad. tasted microwaved or old like sitting out old. i was really disappointed ordering a baked potato "with the works". "the works" was a scoop of sour cream. that's it. i don't know what i was expecting with my sandwich but it was very boring, bland and dry. the biscuits that came with the meal have definitely been sitting out, they were still and room temp.

Amazing cafe on our way to our destination. The service was fast and friendly. Although they were busy, we were sat and greeted in a timely manner. They have a bunch of cool Rusty Tractor merchandise by the counter from fanny packs to coffee mugs. I had their biscuits and gravy. Their full order is well worth it with a generous size buttery biscuit. The gravy was meaty and comforting. My boyfriend's dad ordered the omelet and it was filled with toppings and super cheesy.

Showed up after 3 days of hiking in Olympic national park and was sure glad to have feasted here after non stop dehydrated meals. But don't let my campy resource starved experience discount the food here though! If you're looking for food that has a bit of the local flavor added into it you have to stop by Rusty Tractor! Protip: They have limited time cheesecakes that are 1000% worth it. Feed the dessert demon in you while you're here

Hawaiian burger with tots! Get the Ranch! Yummy

Food for the soul! Passing thru Elma, WA on our way home from a long weekend and we stopped at one of our favorite little spots! Honestly I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet! I had the Hawaiian burger this time. It was so juicy and perfectly seasoned! Yumm just Yumm! My kiddo had the kids chicken tenders and fries and they were nice and thick with a thin breading! Very good! I snuck a taste of hers too! Lol! I wanted to get something different as I generally get breakfast here, which I'm sure you can see by other reviews is what they are known for! The biscuits and homemade cinnamon roll are to die for! So even if you have to take one home- do just that! The staff is so kind and never complain! They ask all the right questions to make sure you have what you want and not just what you need! They work hard and are so attentive! This is a must stop in restaurant! Thank you Rusty Tractor for always providing great service and a wonderful meal!

We're traveling back from visiting Olympic Natl park and the Orgeon coast and stopped in for breakfast. Great food and great service.

Weird, stopped by the Rusty Tractor, on our way to Grayland. It was 8:30, the waitress informed us they were closed. Confused, Yelp says 9, there hours were posted as 8:30ish, 9:30ish, little sketchy. What are the hours?

Close whenever they feel like it. If slow, they close.

Discover is an accepted form of payment. Charlie's is the only bar in Montesano. The building is old so it was chilly inside during our visit. If you are somebody who chills easily, bring a sweatshirt or light jacket inside with you. Happy Hour is offered Monday-Friday from 4pm-6pm. Well drink specials are offered Sunday-Thursday from 6pm-close. Charlie's offers a full bar and draft beers. Free Wi-Fi is available. Charlie's does not have a kitchen. Food items are microwaved. Remember, this is a dive bar. We all use microwaves at home from time-to-time. I'm good with microwaved food and an ice-cold beer. Charlie's offers many different forms of entertainment during ones visit. Pull tabs, darts, digital jukebox, beer pong, shuffleboard and a couple pool tables. During our visit, my wife and I played a few rounds of darts 501. If I recall correctly, each game was $0.75 (wife paid). While playing darts we slurped on a couple ice-cold Manny's for $5 each. We each took turns ($10 worth) choosing the next song to blast from the jukebox. We had an absolute blast. Our server was downright cool. She was friendly, laid-back, helpful and willing to share her knowledge of the surrounding area and Long Beach area with us. Thank you Charlie's for being one of our highlights during our road-trip. We both look forward to stopping in again the next time we're passing through Montesano.

However, when my friend went to sign up the karaoke host, Sashia Hopkins, told my friend "You smell like shit, like McDonalds" then assaulted her by spraying her with an unknown substance. Not once was Sashia even concerned that my friend may have been allergic to perfume or worried that she may have caused humiliation to her by saying she "smelled like shit". Once she was informed of this being a form assault Sashia acted erratic and Unprofessional. Telling my group to "fuck off." Also that we, "all smell like shit". The bartender did her best to de-escalate Even with Sashia's adolescent immature behavior. Will not be back, also this place is dirty. If you're never going to clean anything, dim the lights. The demographic that comes to this watering hole is just as nasty as Sashia herself. Avoid at all cost; instead head to Bobs. The staff there are friendly and welcoming.

The bar is rustic, has a good vibe and a ton of antique logging items to look at. You can bring your dog, and your dog can sit in a stool at the bar. There were probably 4 dogs at one point. You'll want to bring a dollar bill to sign and put on the wall. Billiards is free to play. You'll need to check out the bathrooms with the nudie pics..."I'm gonna be in here a while," I yelled to my cousin. The Saginaw Days happens in September which sounds like a fun family outing. The owner was a hoot. Said "that's the lying corner over there," pointing to a bunch of regular locals. They've owned it for about 4 years and left it the way it was. If you ask the owner to tell you the history, he will. It used to be a gas station 100 years ago. Mentioned a gentlemen who is 90 years old living in the house he was born in. There is an old bell that someone can ring when they want to buy the house a round of drinks. Bell came off an old steam engine. Before it was horse and buggy, donkeys, then it quickly modernized. When Saginaw Logging pulled out, it was the last of the big logs. They then started pulling out the train rails, as the wood trestles started rotting anyway, then sold the metal as scrap. They still do a lot of logging up there M- F so got to be careful when on the road. They put in Snoose Creek (the water trough by the bar) for the loggers to spit in. They couldn't smoke in the woods, bunkhouse, mess hall, etc. so loggers took to chewing tobacco. The tough guys just go ahead and swallow, the rookies would chew and spit. You'll see bottle caps in the parking lot as loggers used to throw them down to get grip on the wet muddy grounds for their trucks. It's a good hunting area. All the roads used to be open, but Warehouser, Park Blakley and others started locking their gates. The hunters have to pay $300 to get a key for the gate to go in now, so not as many hunters these days. We did dinner at Clark's restaurant on the way out. Good hamburgers and shakes.
