    the sign for brooklyn tavern

Fun little bar out in the middle of no where. Has a liitle creek on the back side of it. Was there for a logging show that is put on once a year.

The Brooklyn Tavern is located 18 miles off of US Highway 101 between Raymond and Cosmopolis. Follow N. River Road east from 101. It's a pretty drive and the Brooklyn is more of a destination (just to see Ray (the tavernkeeper) or other special event like Saginaw Days, etc.). There are no Services in Brooklyn so bring cash and a good tank of gas. Here's their website: http://www.historicbrooklyntavern.com/index.htm Next time I go here, I'll take more pics. It's decorated w/ huge old chain saws and other logging antiques. There's a potbellied stove in the middle of the room and "the bell" is off an old locomotive, so when you ring the bell....you Really ring the bell. The coolest thing (I think) is that the tavern is built over a tiny stream that is channeled along the bottom of the bar and was once used as a spittoon. There are several old framed logging photographs hanging around - they are cool too. The menu is (or was) limited: frozen pizzas, chips, etc.

The oddest bar I've ever been to. Nice patrons, friendly service, good prices. A little hard to find, trust your maps app it is there.

9:45pm on a Friday night, and it's closed. Business hours said open to 2am. Quite a drive just to have to turn around.

Discover is an accepted form of payment. Charlie's is the only bar in Montesano. The building is old so it was chilly inside during our visit. If you are somebody who chills easily, bring a sweatshirt or light jacket inside with you. Happy Hour is offered Monday-Friday from 4pm-6pm. Well drink specials are offered Sunday-Thursday from 6pm-close. Charlie's offers a full bar and draft beers. Free Wi-Fi is available. Charlie's does not have a kitchen. Food items are microwaved. Remember, this is a dive bar. We all use microwaves at home from time-to-time. I'm good with microwaved food and an ice-cold beer. Charlie's offers many different forms of entertainment during ones visit. Pull tabs, darts, digital jukebox, beer pong, shuffleboard and a couple pool tables. During our visit, my wife and I played a few rounds of darts 501. If I recall correctly, each game was $0.75 (wife paid). While playing darts we slurped on a couple ice-cold Manny's for $5 each. We each took turns ($10 worth) choosing the next song to blast from the jukebox. We had an absolute blast. Our server was downright cool. She was friendly, laid-back, helpful and willing to share her knowledge of the surrounding area and Long Beach area with us. Thank you Charlie's for being one of our highlights during our road-trip. We both look forward to stopping in again the next time we're passing through Montesano.
