STAY CLEAR!! Front staff is very un-welcoming, and the management is even worse and very ignorant. Brought my dog in for a tests, was never brought back into a room, and the Vet never came out to talk with me as the "tech" brought out her lap top into the waiting area, stated "this is the quote for the only service you wanted today and this is what you owe, please sign" proceeded to try and walk with my dog to the back room. For 10 minutes all I heard from the back room was my dog crying and yelping. Tech came out and said you're good to go. Still, no Vet in sight and never came to talk with me, mind you, I've never met HER (the veterinarian) as my husband was with our dog for his 1st visit. *So needless to say, WE WILL NEVER RETUNR THERE!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE!! They will nickel and dime you for services...MONEY COMES BEFORE YOUR PETS and when questions are asked, THEY WILL ARGUE WITH YOU. You cannot get a word in edge wise as all they do is talk over you. They DO NOT listen to your concerns, and they do not have your pet's best interest at heart!! I wish I had read the reviews before ever considering taking my dog there. The most horrible vet experience we have ever had! I've been bringing my pets here for about three years now. The staff are nice, but the appointments themselves feel very rushed. The veterinarian often comes in without introducing himself, so half the time I'm not even sure if I'm speaking to the doctor or a vet tech. It consistently feels like they're trying to get my pet and me out as quickly as possible. While efficiency can be a good thing, one of my pets has a condition that requires more time and attention. Because of this condition, there have been several visits where additional blood tests or procedures were needed. I like to understand WHY something is necessary before agreeing to it--both to avoid putting my pets under unnecessary stress and because vet visits are expensive. However, whenever I ask, "Why does this need to be done?" the person I assume is the veterinarian (again, he never introduces himself) usually offers an answer along the lines of "it just needs to be done," followed by a vague, scientific explanation that doesn't actually help me understand. When the results come back and I ask for clarification--such as why a level is high, whether it's a concern, or what I should be monitoring--the response is usually something like, "Oh, don't worry about it. It's not a concern right now." I appreciate the reassurance, but the lack of specific information is frustrating. I don't think it should be on me to pull basic explanations out of the doctor, especially when I'M the one paying for the tests and trying to make informed decisions about my pet's health. It's concerning that the rationale for doing a test isn't explained upfront, and that I have to press for meaningful interpretation of the results afterward. For context, my dog is now six years old, and I've been managing this health condition for all six of those years. I also worked in the veterinary field for a short time, so I have a general understanding of procedures and protocols. They gave my dog an unapproved vet visit while he was at daycare, then they expected me to pay for the vet visit even though I did not need or ask for one. My friends dog got kennel cough there after being boarded (even though he is fully vaccinated) and did not even offer an apology. We will be finding a new vet, new kennel and new daycare facility. I used to like it here but it has massively gone down hill. I brought my dog in for a bump and was told eh I think it's an abscess. No improvement so they told me the other other option was a 2k surgery. No phone call, no expression of concern. I took him to another vet in the area and he was blown away and told me I would lose my dog if we didn't operate. I emailed my disgust with the lack of treatment and they basically told me to go fuck myself. If you loved animals you should treat them like your own. We took our dog in for a sick visit. Turns out he had intestinal cancer. Which they did NOT diagnose. When tests came back a vet tech called me, not the vet. This was something I feel the vet should have called me about. Also, pre pricing. They had $200 for anti nausea, said we probably wouldn't need it, but when they took him back for xray, they administered it. He hadn't thrown up in 48 hours. I would not recommend them. A vet should be the one calling with a diagnosis, not a tech reading from a script. So sorry I every went there. read more

Recently one of my dogs decided she was going to help with laundry. She didn't understand how to help! Our dog Alex thought it was a good idea to eat a pair of underwear. With the help of the Rusty Ridge team with X-rays, treatment and monitoring she was able to pass the blockage, and is back to her normal goofy self! The staff was friendly and accommodating. I enrolled my 10 year old schnauzer in the daycare program 5 months ago. When Ivory first went to daycare, Ivory did not enjoy it. He would not mingle or play with the other dogs, Ivory spent his day, relaxing and getting cuddles and belly rubs from the understanding mattendants, Attendant Josh had assured me that Ivory would warmup, as all the attendants understood Ivory's personality and his needs. On today's report card, Josh wrote that Ivory had a great day playing and relaxing with his friends! Rusty Ridge Daycare has certainly changed my Ivory's life. BEWARE. In March I brought my cat in for vulva discharge. During the exam Dr Joe stated he couldn't get a sample because 2 stones we occupying 80% of her bladder. Two choices try to break up the stones with medication that could take 6-12 months or surgery. I opted for the surgery. Brought her back on the day the tech kept calling her Coco (wrong cat) after 3 times she finally got my cats name right. I told the tech wanted a picture of the stones or to actually see them. And copy of all of her test results and imaging. A few hours later I get a call from dr Joe and he said the stones had completely bursted to crystals. How does that happen in a week. Dr Joe suggested new cat food at 80 bucks a bag (I bought it from them). Dr did state that her blood sugar was a little elevated and to bring her back in a few weeks for a retest. I asked if there was anything I could do from home to help with blood sugar he said let me check with Purina. Well urinary grain purina is loaded with corn which spikes blood sugar. You want me to give that to a cat who may have diabetes And grain is usually the reason cats get stones. I sent an email with concerns why did the stones burst so soon and low ad behold when I asked to see them the aren't there anymore the tech called me back and said there may have been a shadow on the ultrasound that may have been shadows. What is it shadows or stones u don't know. I had to ask for the scans and results 4 times. Finally got them. I see no stones on any of the scans. And it cost me over $800 dollars, the surgery would have been an additional $2700. If you ever did anything get a second opinion OR DONT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL there. High quality and compassionate care for our cats. We had one older cat that had to be put down and they were very caring about the process - had a nice room with sunlight shining thru the window, peaceful setting. It's very difficult to say goodbye but they did their best to make it less traumatic. We have a younger cat they have been seeing also and they all really seem to care so much about your pet. Beware of this place- on the surface they seem great. We started care with our dog who has Addison's disease to be closer to home. Dr Joe proceeded to change the dosing our dog was thriving and doing well on while at the same time adding additional expensive testing. We left and returned to our previous vet and had to readjust the dosages back. We stayed with Rusty Ridge for grooming. When I called to schedule her next groom , we were told our dog needed vaccines. I asked if they could give them that day. They said no problem. On the day she went for her groom we were told then (not when I made the appt and inquired about giving the vaccines) that they would have to perform and charge for a full exam since they require a yearly exam to give vaccines. We consented because she really needed to be groomed and didn't want to wait for another appt. They called me while she was there asking to do additional testing on her eyes because they noticed something and they wanted to give me a quote on the charges. I said no but wanted further explanation as to what they found with her eyes- one of her eyes appeared irritated is what I was told. Again I declined. When we picked our dog up- we were given a letter informing us that due to a number of past encounters (???lol- I have no idea what they are referring to-- we call for grooming appts) they were no longer accepting us as clients. we've been coming here since the beginning. Dr. Joe and his team are consistently pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure pet and owners are comfortable. With a highly reactive dog, they are a God send. In the past, we've seen many area vets that have been forceful with care which ultimately caused more reactivity and anxiety. We have been bringing our two dogs, one a Siberian Husky and the other a Whippet mix, to Dr. Joe since right after Rusty Ridge opened. The front staff and Dr. Joe have always been very friendly, compassionate, and helpful. Communication is good, both in person during the visit (pricing is printed out and presented in the exam room) before any work is done, and follow up calls to see how our pets are doing always occur. The grooming services are wonderful, too. Huskies are NOT easy temperament dogs to groom, and our Husky always comes out looking great and is happy. We plan on sticking with Rusty Ridge and Dr. Joe for the long haul. read more

My daughter and I went here for the first and last time on Monday. We had to put our guinea pig down and no other vet was available. I had heard mixed reviews on this place, but needed to what was needed for our pet. I have worked in a few different vet clinics for over 15 years and this was one of the worst experiences I have had. I have witnessed and had many of my own animals put down. I was always given the option to stay with my pet. I was denied this option and had to sit in a room with my crying daughter for 10 minutes after the receptionist took our piggy. We did not even get to meet the doctor before hand. They said it was too traumatic for us to be in the room. I am totally disgusted with this and our Poppy deserved better. read more

The staff is absolutely wonderful but please be aware of Dr. Joe. My mom and I brought both of our dogs here last year and Dr. Joe did a wonderful job at putting on this fantastic vet appearance but boy were we wrong. Our yorkie has been feeling under the weather for a week now and when he saw her, "shes fine". The next day we had to bring her to the ER because she got worse and thats when we found out she had a 104.7 fever and was fighting an infection. Dr. Joe would have known this if he simply took her temperature and gave us antibiotics... literally the whole point of seeing him in the first place. The ER vet advised that we get with Dr. Joe the next day to be sure the fever is going down, but he refused to see our dog and would not even speak to us on the phone and hid behind his vet techs instead. Also if you do end up going here, be prepared to see Dr. Joe for 2 seconds and the rest of our appointment will be with the vet tech. He does not follow up either and is not thorough whatsoever. read more

So incredibly thankful that we have Dr. Joe! He is an amazing person and incredibly caring. After going to the other vets in town and their branches they recommended euthanasia after our pup broke both her legs after a tragic accident. Dr. Joe told us the road to recovery would not be easy but he was able to fix both legs and she is finally running around like nothing every happened! We wouldn't have our sweet girl without Dr. Joe. I don't trust anyone except the best and the best is Rusty Ridge!! read more
