My cat, Kate, required monthly visits to Riverview. Each time we saw Dr. Schifo and vet tech, Hannah. They were both very helpful and kind to me and my pet. Dr. Schifo was upfront and honest throughout the whole process, making sure to keep me informed. Hannah is the sweetest and knew just how to keep my cat calm throughout a stressful process. After she passed, the clinic as a whole went above and beyond to send me their condolences. Thank you for your feedback Yes I was upset and this not the first occasion either that the staff was rude to me also and not caring for the patient or pet owners. I knew the test took a long time that is why I waited 2 months for it. My pets worse condition had nothing to do with this wait I did originally. So please think what you want. When someone is that upset your job is to calm them done specially when it comes to a member of their family. In this case since my pets test results were worse he should of been put on meds the same day. Not when it's convenient for the Dr's to read it. After getting the results I knew what needed to be done and I'm not even a Dr. The cardiologist had it writing out what the next steps were. Thanks for the response but this response was completely false. I'm also glad I was able to get him on meds right away and already noticed a difference. So I'm happy with this new vet. Extremely disappointed in their service. The vets themselves are very good to the animals. However, I scheduled my dogs yearly check up and shots. They told me once we got there that she couldn't get her rabies shot until next month, but they can do that with her booster shots... perfect. So they charged me the exam fee the first time when we got her other shots ( Lyme, etc). We went back the following month for her booster shots and her rabies shot. They charged me for another exam fee even though she already had an exam the month prior. They said this is mandatory because she was getting her rabies shots. Needless to say, the right thing to do would have been to tell me wait until January when she could get all of her shots together and not make me pay two different exam fees. On a different note when I took my cat in to get declawed, the gave my sweet boy back to me with pee and poop all over him. They must have had him in a tiny cage and never cleaned it or cleaned him up. Never again!!!!! read more

A little over 1 year ago, my small dog had a tick stuck on his bottom that we had a really hard time getting out. We had called several vet clinics in the area, including his existing vet, to ask if we would be able to bring him in to get the tick removed. All of those clinics offered visits several days out, which for a tick bite, is not ideal. Riverview clinic understood our urgency and offered to squeeze us in at the end of the day. Ever since, Dr. Schifo, Dr. Marion, and the rest of the clinic staff have taken such great care of our little guy and all of his ailments. I recently started going to Riverview Animal clinic back in September. I had an older dog who was having problems walking and going to the bathroom. I saw Dr Marion. I also brought my other dog Bear in as well and that time I saw Dr Shifo. All I can say is this is the best place to take your animals! They are kind and compassionate and really genuinely care about your animals! I was on Vacation with my family this week and we got some tragic news about our beloved pet Chucky and we ended up having to put him down. I absolutely love this vet. I just had an appointment for our dog's annual check up. Dr. Schifo is wonderful. She takes the time to answer all my questions and gives a thorough check up. I never feel rushed. We have been to a few clinics in the past and this is, by far, the best. The receptionist was a doll, even when my dog decided to urinate on the desk! I have two older dachshunds with heart issues and have been looking for a good vet. I took them to Eola Point and Oswego and wasn't happy. At Eola one was roughly treated and at Oswego it just seemed they were too busy to really care. When I first called Riverview, the receptionist Vanessa was very understanding and got is in quickly for an appt with Dr Marion. I was impressed with Dr Marion's knowledge and he took the time to really listen and really seemed to care. He also sent us home with some samples of special dog food and didn't charge for them, which I thought was super nice as dogs can be picky eaters and he was budget conscious as well! Overall was a great experience and was super happy. I felt like I finally found that good vet! Unfortunately I am only giving four stars because I took my other dachshund in the next week and since Dr Marion was gone we were seen by Dr Schifo. I didn't get the same vibe from her and felt it was a bit rushed even though I had sat in the office for almost 40 mins waiting on her. I didn't mind since I know how things come up with our pets and visits take a bit longer sometimes. It just seemed when she got to me she was hurrying since she was behind. I also felt she got caught up on one issue he has and didn't really listen to my concerns and wanted to push expensive tests and medications. She sent me home with meds that were almost 4x the dose that my really sick other dog was taking and they weigh the same. Her response when I called back with concerns was she was just more aggressive in treatment than the last vet was. These are pills my dog will be on most of his life and is only showing possible signs of this illness. Why would we start aggressive? Anyways, everyone is super nice regardless so I would def recommend seeing Dr Marion. And perhaps Dr Schifo just had an off day so will try again. read more

I just finished my regular appts for my 2 year old westie and my 16 year old cat. This is my second year seeing Dr. Marion. Dr Marion continues to work with me and I was very pleased with both visits. Last week we took our dog Millie in and I was so happy with how our visit went. We hardly had to wait at all. The whole staff is great and Millie loves coming here. I really appreciate how Dr. Marion is careful about vaccines. He has her on a rotation so she gets her Rabies shot every three years and the other shots with Distemper/Parvo/ (and I forgot the other) also on an every 3 year rotation but not the same year as rabies. He also supports me premedicating with benedryl to help minimize or prevent reactions. Even with getting shots and a heart worm test Millie loved the visit, the staff is very gentle and caring. This morning I brought in my 16 year old cat who has a number of health issues and once again I was so happy with how the visit went. We were in and out quickly and Dr. Marion gave me some new foods to try since our biggest issue is getting him to eat and keeping his weight up. He is on some medications so we got refills as well as an exam and again no waiting. I really appreciate how Dr. Marion listens to my views and philosophy on my pets and respects me as a advocate for my pets. A+++ read more

We recently moved to the area and were in need of a new vet for our pets, Diesel & Frankie. The office is brand new and comes equipped with state of the art technology. We have actually been to the office 3 times in the past 2 months. Dr. Marion along with the other vet techs I've met were amazing each time. Diesel required a tooth extraction, which the day leading up to his surgery and the day of his staff helped to put my mind to ease. Not only did Dr. Marion call to give me an update after surgery, but called to check on him the next day (my past several experiences with Diesel's surgeries, the vet had no contact with me). We had an emergency with our dog yesterday and they were the only place that would take him immediately and NOT charge us an arm and leg. I really liked that they worked with us on what we would do for him (he had a fever and wasn't eating). So it was nice to have different levels of care based on what we wanted to do. They are very reasonable and also don't just push a bunch of stuff at you for $$$. After getting a quote for an office visit, I was HIGHLY impressed that they phoned me back to let me know that the amount was more (instead of 30, 45) to make sure that we knew. Today we lost our beloved kitty who was with our family for over 11 years. Our kitty was hiding from us and not eating or drinking. We took him to this vet to see what was going on with him and kept him overnight to run tests and see what the problem was. When he was picked up from the overnight stay she said he ate good for them and didn't think he had anything serious wrong. She said he would start eating again when he felt hungry and seemed more interested in selling us cat food then telling us how to get him healthy again. To us she came across as condescending and not willing to listen to what we had to say about our beloved family member. We took him home thinking he would get better. We realized to late he wasn't getting better and wished we had taken him to another vet for another opinion of what was wrong with him. We will have to think long and hard about taking our other kitty back to this vet. read more

We had recently moved here from SC and needed a vet ASAP when our dog was having health issues. We went to a vet in Oswego after a reccomendation....they said Bailey needed surgery for a Perianal Adenoma benign tumor, estimate was $800.00 to $1500.00. The vet was nice but didn't try to bond with my baby. So the entire time we were there he was trying to get behind me. SO I went on a search for a second opinion. Riverview had great reviews so we decided to go to check them out. When Dr Marion walked in the room he immediately tried to put Bailey at ease and sat on the floor beside him patting him and talking soothingly to him. Bailey gave him KISSES....that was a big deal...Bailey's stamp of approval. I brought the estimate and test results from the first vet for comparison. Dr Marion agreed that Bailey needed the surgery but couldn't understand how they could justify the estimate. We scheduled the surgery for later in the week. My husband dropped Bailey off at 7:30 am Thursday am, at 10:30 I got a call saying all was well no problems and the tech was sitting with Bailey in recovery...she was totally smitten with my baby and said she'd be with him till he was up and moving around. Dr Marion and staff put Bailey's needs #1...who could ask for more. Bailey's recovery went fantastic, 10 days later we went for suture removal. Again Dr Marion put Bailey at ease before doing anything...COMPLETE success on tumor removal. We've been back 6 times for various things in the past 4 months with both dogs...I get more and more impressed with the Drs and staff. I was looking for vets that gave my dogs as much attention and care as my kids had with their pediatrician. I know my dogs are well cared for...who could ask for anything more. read more
