Just had the worst bar experience ever at this place. If I could give this bar a negative star…read morerating I would. I don't even like the fact that I have to give it a 1 star rating. Me and a couple of my buddies stopped in for a couple of drinks towards the end of the night, and our waitress wasn't super friendly to begin with, but my issue was with the bartender. She was absolutely the worst bartender I've ever encountered. My buddy told me she worked at a different bar that I used to go to, so when I mentioned it to her, she said "Oh so you think that's gonna get you laid?" I have no idea where that came from cuz I was just trying to be nice. After that, I said I just wanted to cash out and gave her my card. She ended up charging all of our drinks ($30 worth) on my card when I only had 2 drinks. When I questioned her about it, she said "Yeah I figured you weren't going to tip so I included gratuity." My buddy still left her a cash tip, which they did NOT deserve. Then, when we were about to leave, my buddy walked his empty beer glass up to the bar to be nice, and I told him not to bother cuz they wouldn't appreciate that, and then she proceeded to follow me out to the parking lot asking if I had a problem. Absolutely horrid customer service. If you're thinking of visiting this bar anytime soon, don't. Go somewhere else. I don't care if the bartender was having a bad night, or whatever personal stuff she had going on, there was no reason to come at me like that.

It wasn't busy which was surprising since it was a Lions home game but it does seem to be a regulars type bar. My friend and I were welcomed and our two bartenders were friendly and attentive. Drink prices were more than reasonable and I'm not sure if they left off a round but the bill seemed pretty low for what we were drinking. We gave a nice tip and will be back to try some of their food items. The menu looked like typical bar food and again the prices were very reasonable. $9 for a burger, etc. They also had daily drink and food specials. One of the regulars said the fish and chips was excellent so that's on the list for next time.

I will say it was clean and the other worker was busy wiping down and keeping busy. We ordered a tea and water and then decided on the burger combo special. It took awhile and as we waited a group of 5 people came to sit at the bar and eat. We got our food, we shared the burger and fries and they gave us an extra plate which was nice. The burger was juicy, large, and tasty. The crinkle fries were very good. We checked out and she charged us for the tea. Said the combo only came with soda or a beer. Really? An ice tea couldn't be substituted? ‍ we'll know for next time. $10.99 for 1/2 pound burger that actually looked like it, fries and either a soda or bottle of beer. We would try it again.

Now, I should mention, this was me and my mother who visited the bar, and the only reason we stopped in there was to chat with my mothers boyfriend. It ended up being that my mothers boyfriend paid the tab. Which means they got paid twice. Also, I would like to add that moms bf shouldn't have paid the bill, because I already paid the tab. I wanted to see the footage then and I want to see it now, because I genuinely am curious to see who it is that stole the money!!! Then I hear from my mothers boyfriend, that the barmaid said that she doesn't want us back in there, apparently we are now labeled as thieves. One point I'd like to make is why in the world would I put the $14 out on the "under bar" in the first place, if I planned to just steal the money back? Wouldn't it make more sense to just not put money down in the first place? This is so petty and ridiculous. I want the establishment to review the footage. This truly hurts my feelings and my pride as well. Not to mention, this was not done discretely, this was done in front of people I know and its embarrassing to know this Al's Hideaway... Huge covered outdoor bar, a stage for live music, and a big fire pit that makes it feel like it should be the spot. The setup is there. But something just feels a little... off. It still has that early 2010s bro-bar energy, and it doesn't quite match how nice the space could be. I also didn't even realize they served food, which probably says something about how it's presented. That said, the music is always solid. It's a fun place to grab a drink after work and hang out for a bit. Just not somewhere I find myself staying long or choosing over other spots nearby. If I can offer anything to the team, I think leaning into the vibe of that patio and elevating the atmosphere a bit would go a long way. Maybe highlight the food more too, because people like me are clearly missing it. It's so close to being a go-to spot, just needs a little shift.
