Food and service was great. Wonderful variety of craft beers. Polish, German etc all you can ask for!

3 stars for me and 3.5 for my husband. I had a brisket sandwich and he has the brisket plate. The brisket was too salty for me. My husband said it was fine but it's definitely not our favorite. Mine was so salty I only ate a quarter of half of one. The meat was too tough to my liking. We walked in and the lady up front was great and she let us order and sit up there where it's not in the restaurant while we waited for our to go. 5 stars for service.

We were 2 moms with their moms on Mothers Day traveling for something fun to do. We visited the Fly Creek Cider Mill which had just reopened for the season. Fun shopping finding a few gifts, picking up a few favorites, and having a tasting of a variety of wine, beer, and moonshine since you can mix and match so cool! We nibbles on some darn good Parmesan garlic crackers we purchased while chatting and sipping. After checking out our purchases we decided we were hungry. Mid afternoon we were hoping for an option without a long wait due to the Holiday. My trusty Yelp search served me well yet again and we drove just a few minutes away to the Rusty Bison. They may have just opened for the day but there were few people and no wait. Large dining area with lots of booths and tables tucked away from each other a bit for privacy yet easy to access. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere we went with a booth and after looking at the menu opted for an appetizer and we all went with the smoked brisket sandwich and fries. Never had brisket that wasn't sliced usually thick slabs and this was chopped just enough bbq and we all agreed the best we have ever had. One pic they all looked this good and tasted it too! We go to Fly Creek several times a year and definitely will be back! What a Happy Mothers Day meal!

She offered to bring out a couple dipping sauces for our fries, and I asked for the bourbon jelly, which she was willing to do. That initial interaction set a great tone. The food itself was very good--both burgers were delicious. Unfortunately, after we placed our order, the service dropped off completely. We waited about an hour for our food, with no check-ins, no water refills, and no acknowledgment of the delay, even though our server walked past our table multiple times. At one point, I had to get up and find someone to talk to. I asked a man near the front for a manager, explained we had been waiting an hour, and pointed out our table. No one ever came over afterward to follow up. We were later told there was a large party, which is understandable--but that's not something customers or servers can control. A simple check-in or acknowledgment would have made a big difference. Instead, we were told we "should have said something," despite no one coming to the table. At the end, we waited again for the check, and when my daughter calmly tried to explain our frustration, the server spoke over her and said, "I'm almost 50--I've been doing this since I was 17," which came across as rude and unprofessional. The food was good, but the lack of communication, attentiveness, and management involvement made this a disappointing experience.

There is a bar as well as booth seating but no direction or indication of waiting to be seated or seating yourself. I didn't want to go unnoticed so I sat at the bar. (Most of the tables are past the entry way and bar area). There was a family group, a few couples and a group of guys playing darts off to the side. I sat there for more than five minutes before I was even acknowledged. I know this because I could see the Guinness Countdown to St Patrick's Day (down to the second) from my seat. There were 3 girls behind the bar but one seemed to be doing most of the bar work. As I put on my jacket to leave, I finally had the attention of one of the girls so I decided to take my chances and stick with my dinner plan. She got me a menu and asked for my drink order. There weren't any hard ciders on tap but they did have canned Awestruck (local). I noticed the fried pickle appetizer and asked her about it. She told me they were spears and very popular. I decided to take her recommendation and ordered them, along with a Cooley's Handmade Burger with sautéed mushrooms and swiss cheese. My pickle fries came out first since they were an app and I can tell you two things about them...the portion was huge and they were absolutely the best I've ever had! Not long afterward, my burger arrived and that was really tasty as well. I opted to bring the rest of my pickles home and I can tell you that even the next day, with the help of the air fryer, they were still tasting great! I am so glad I stayed!

MASSIVE disappointment. We won't come back. Their crust now is 1/3 the pizza. Too doughy, and thus not true NY pizza. Their pizza sauce is also now really bland. I ate a single slice and then said "meh, not worth eating more calories here because this pizza sucks". And every time before, I ate at least 4 slices of a large pizza. This visit almost ruined our trip to Cooperstown. It had been such an expected highlight, but now this is a crappy version of what it used to be under former management. Luckily we found another Cooperstown restaurant that satisfied us, or we wouldn't eat in town anymore. Sal's: your founder would be so sad to see what you've become. PS a full pizza charges $2.50 a slice. Your slices are $4.49. So you're ripping off your customer base. Raping your customers financially is not how you run a business.
