Went to Rusttico today; formally Velo Cafe, at noon for Brunch. The menu is a beautiful assortment of breakfast favorites (classic benedict/waffles/pancakes) to more do I say exotic flare (bay lobster benedict/cheesesteak (philly) omelet/eggs in purgatory). The menu offered so many unique options I found it hard to pick just one. Another plus was the fresh squeezed orange juice which was so good.
My wife had the waffles which came with fresh blueberries, strawberries, and bananas. The staff was extremely helpful in dealing with her food allergy (corn) and made sure without a doubt it wasn't in what she ordered. My friend and I were both surprised when she finished the whole serving. She really enjoyed it.
My friend ordered the Philly Omelet (sliced ribeye steak, peppers, onions & provolone cheese). He loved it and commented that it wasn't cheap steak and really good ribeye.
I had the Bay Lobster Benedict with a side of fruit. The Benedict was delicious with nice chunks of lobster throughout. The chipotle hollandaise was so good and added just a nice hint of spice. One of the best Benedict's I've ever had. The side of fruit was a nice portion of grapes, blueberries, and strawberries.
We ate outside since it was such a beautiful day so I can't comment on the inside ambiance. But it was nice outside despite some of the street noise.
The service was fantastic. Anastasia was so helpful and as I said before was extremely helpful with my wife's allergy. She wasn't intrusive yet checked on us to make sure everything was good. Being outside something floated into my water glass (no reflection on the restaurant) and she replaced the glass very quickly.
I really wish I didn't live so far from this establishment as I would frequent it more often. The price could be considered high by some, but the quality of the food and excellent service makes it worth every penny. read more
