A group of us went out there for the first time Friday night...We were all very happy with our food..The complimentary bread was amazing. Service was excellent..It would have been five stars , except for the specialty cocktails being served in a water cup...When I pay $18 for a cocktail, i expect a cocktail glass. On top of that, they were very light on the alcohol.. No effect at all. ( I will have to say, when I complained , my waiter did go and find me a cocktail glass ) Food was high/ aveage....cocktails were ridiculously high...$15 for a margarita and $18 for an Italian Margarita. read more

Going with a "solid four" star rating for our first time dining experience. Early Saturday night, they were busy but not so full up that we had to wait, we were seated immediately. Our server was wonderful and bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar came soon after getting to our table. I ordered the spaghetti Bolognese and my wife had the lasagna. Bolognese was a tad on the salty side but quite tasty. It was quite different than the way my wife makes at home, but it was good. The real star of the show was the lasagna. There was a creamy sauce, and ricotta, meat sauce and good mozzarella cheese. One bite I had to try made me jealous! My entree was good but this was fancy lasagna! We decided before we were done with the meal that we would be returning. Soon. It would be nice to try a pizza next time, but who knows, I might be tempted by pesto or some seafood. Our first visit has set our expectations high. I will say that unlike other reviews we did have attentive service, so no complaints there. We were not super thrilled with the spumoni because we don't go for whipped cream and Maraschino cherries. The syrup from the cherries got in the way of the spumoni which would have been delicious without all the added toppings. read more

It's strange, but their menu states they have happy hour every day from 3-5. However, when I asked the hostess/server, she said "no we don't ". No explanation given either. We ordered wine and a pizza. Waitress brought out their bread which was stale and cold. My husband said it tasted like pound cake minus the sweetness. The wine was excellent (Robert Renzoni) The pepperoni pizza was just okay. It was actually quite bland which was disappointing. We've lived in the area for over 25 years and used to eat here once in awhile. Though their pasta dishes and sandwiches were unremarkable, their pizza used to be good. We won't be returning. It looks like we will continue to travel to San Diego to Bueno Forchetta for tasty pizza and Italian dishes. read more

This is my second time in here and I live about 25 minutes away. It was not very busy for a Saturday lunch and we decided to sit on the lovely patio! Their Caesar salad is my favorite and if you ask for a side of anchovies, it's not a problem! Their bread is homemade and it is delightful! We went with an angel hair pasta, and a large, black olive, mushroom and pepperoni pizza! Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, and we took most of the meal home! Two ladies just don't need to eat that much! With two salads, all that food and one beer, our tab was about $74. And the manager, who was serving us, took time to visit with us, as my friend is a long time customer! She was so friendly, and I honestly felt like I was eating at her house! Check it out! Really good local Italian spot. We have only had the Italian pasta dishes a few times, and love the picatta. The tapas is where it's at! The shrimp and zucchini risotto is to die for!! The fresh baked bread with green onion olive oil and vinegar is very special as well. Wow! Calamari is consistently good and the flatbread pizzas have plenty of creamy mozzarella. Great service at the bar from Kayla, she is fantastic! It would be 5 stars if they served tapas on the weekends in the restaurant and not just the bar. The one small complaint would be the beer has too much head. I want it full to the top. :) Highly recommend, give it a try! read more

Italian? Check! Delicious? Check? Family owned and operated? Check! Those three things are tough to beat. Rustic o has been around a while and after some repairs earlier in the year they back baby! The pizza is solid. Real deal pizza, not the chain stuff you get from the national guys. The garlic breadsticks are fantastic! I honestly haven't been in a little while due to COVID shutdowns and all that but they used the have this chicken dish with capers. O.M.G. I could eat several platefuls of the chicken. So tender, juicy, and exploding with traditional Italian flavor. Keep up the awesome work! read more

Great food and atmosphere! I had a cheese ravioli ( Ravioli Forza Italia ) which was so saucy and delicious. The calamari was perfectly cooked, not dry or greasy and the breading was spot on. Rustico has become one of my go-to restaurants when I am craving that modern and authentic taste of Italian cuisine! The velvety sauce with the gnocchi had my tastebuds dancing, it was followed by the chicken masala which was one of the best dishes I've tasted since travelling America. I have enjoyed the tiramisu each time I dine in and I'm never disappointed. The Rustico team are polite and attentive, they don't hover or try and boot you out once you're winding down post meal, lol! Overall the ambience is pretty good, pricing is average to high although when paired with the quality and quantity of food it balances out any reason to say no to dining in. read more

A few years back this was a great place, last 2 times going service was absolutely horrible. Was seated for over 30 minutes right in front and servers past us up multiple times, never even got waters. Finally after 45 min still no acknowledgment told the hostess about the situation and she looked clueless. Next time went, plenty of tables open and said over an hour wait, only one other couple there, no explanation just made us all wait, we all left. Went here for lunch on Friday with my wife and sister in law, and we all had great tasting food. My wife had the Chicken Carciofi, which was sautéed chicken breast in artichoke white wine sauce, with a side of seasonal veggies. She said it was delicious. I had Penne Arrabiata, which was penne pasta served with a spicy creamy tomato sauce topped with Romano cheese. You can order it with regular, medium or spicy hot tomato sauce. I opted for the hot and was pleasantly surprised that it was sooo tasty, but not so hot that you couldn't enjoy the flavor. Came with my boyfriend and kids around 5pm Friday night (tonight). Oh my gosh our server was the best server I/we have ever experienced. Even the kids were in awe of him and his service! Food was cold when it arrived, the cheese in the mac n cheese was chunky and had a weird texture to it. My family member ordered the chicken parmesan and the server brought out the wrong dish at first. It came out 20 minutes after everyone else's dish. Another received the chicken catatorie and now has food poisoning. Throwing up and diarrhea all night long. Extremely undercooked. There was a dead clam in another meal and there was a green substance in another. Our bread came out after our appetizers did. Overall a terrible experience. I've eaten at rustico many times. The food is delicious but I ordered a large pizza with sausage and I have to say it is one of the worst pizzas I've ever eaten in my life. I like thin crust with the sausage was crumbled. There was little to no cheese or sauce in the pizza was tasteless. I added a side salad and paid for delivery. $50 wasted. Amazing lunch service! Perfect ambiance and decor. Very spacious dining room. Our server was so attentive and patient as we couldn't decide on what to try. She gave us some tasty suggestions. Great recommendations and enjoyed a wonderful lunch here earlier this week. Crowd picked up shortly after we arrived, but we received our items pretty quickly. Served the house bread with olive oil and balsamic almost immediately. I can understand why it's such a crowd favorite. Perfect buttery crispness on the outside and so pillowy soft inside. Tried the Italian version of the quesadilla appetizer and a seafood risotto (from their dinner menu) While it's not an exact Italian I've grown accustomed to, their dishes are still full of great Italian flare,texture and flavors. We shared each dish between two of us and still had some to take home. Generous portions. I definitely recommend it here. My family would enjoy visiting. Wanted to love it, but we didn't. Ordered take out and the service was great. Very friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy about 1/2 of the food to the point some of it ended up the trash. Lasagna had a creamy sauce and perhaps that is our fault for not reading the menu better, but my daughter didn't like it at all so it went to waste. Potstickers were very buttery and ended up in the trash. Bread had to go in the oven then it was good. The rest of the food was decent. My fiancé and I are from Michigan, We saw that there were a few bad reviews but decided to bite the bullets. It's a Monday no one was in the parking lot so it was kinda wired. Got seated fast. Fresh bread was amazing. I ordered the salmon with vegetables, it does not come with a salad. The salmon was delicious. I'm always scared to order salmon because you never know if it's gonna have that fishy taste. The vegetables were okay... nothing special. Just look at the description of minestrone soup, it clearly states "pasta noodles" in the description, and the garlic cheese bread appetizer did NOT come with marina, big inconvenience for delivery! Tried calling and the manager gave us a "you get what you get" attitude, nor offered any apology or acknowledgement that they need to update their online menu.
