We loved the food here. Good stuff! We had the breakfast burrito and bagel breakfast sandwich.

So, I've been to Rustic 3 times and it's been a mixed bag. The first time two times I thought it was fantastic. The third time, not so much. We'll start with the big picture and then get into the details. Rustic has an interesting premise. It's got a little bit of everything. You can grab breakfast, lunch, drinks or watch a game on one of the TVs. It really is sort of a catch-all kind of space that works for the most part. It's got bar seating, high tops, and tables. It's got a great location and the atmosphere and décor are spot on. My one complaint is that the floors tend to get oddly slippery. Like seriously slippery. The last time I was there it was raining outside and if you didn't tread carefully you could easily bust your ass. Onto the food. I've only hit up Rustic for breakfast and the first two times were just awesome. I had the pancakes and then the 3 egg special. In both cases the portions were large, the quality was good and they tasted delicious. My most recent visit is where I ran into issues. I ordered the 3 egg special again and asked for the eggs to be scrambled (that's what I asked for the first time around as well). What I got was some combination fried eggs that had been chopped up. They had also been cooked either on a dirty grill or with the bacon as the egg whites were discolored. They were cold too which didn't help. In addition, the portion sizes for the potatoes and bacon had also decreased noticeably. I thought about having them redo the eggs but figured if you mess up scrambled eggs the chances of getting them right the second time aren't good. And they didn't taste bad, it just wasn't what I wanted. I'd also like to see the 3 egg special served with a little butter for the toast. Or butter on the condiment counter would suffice. You have to head back up and specifically ask for it if you want some. Not a huge deal, just annoying. While being underwhelmed by my most recent visit I don't think I'm quite ready to give up hope on them yet. My guess is that I got someone new or maybe someone was just having an off day. On the other hand, maybe they have actively decided to reduce portion sizes in order to save money. I'll venture in again at some point to make my final decision. read more

We have breakfast and coffee here after our overnight stay. Very cool interior and nice and clean inside. The service and food were great. The only downside was they only have one size coffee so if you like a lot of coffee may have to buy two! read more

Service was terrible. We ordered from the salad/wrap side and thought we ordered a wrap. The person who took our order didn't ask if we wanted a salad or wrap. We also ordered a burger and no where does it say it comes with fries, so we ordered 2 fries at $9 a side!!! Again, the person taking our order didn't say the burger comes with fries. The burger does come WITH fries and the wrap IS NOT a wrap but a salad. $14 for just veggies. When we picked up the order my husband said, I didn't order a salad, and the person working rudely explained everything. Don't tip if you come here, or just skip by. Sent my daughter in for a couple baguettes for family soup night. She returned with 2 of the hardest burnt tasting baguettes I have ever tried. Worst part is she handed me back $9 change from a $20 bill. Over $5 a piece for the worst baguette I've ever had. I called to verify the price since no receipt was offered. It rang and rang the first time. I called again and the girl shouted DOGHOUSE. I told her i was trying to reach rustic. She said she was rustic and told me I was the doghouse. I assured her I was not a doghouse. She asked what I needed and I hung up. I don't have time for juvenile games and overpriced burnt bread. Save your self some time and buy your baguette at San Francisco sourdough or Costco. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Coeur d'Alene! I had the turkey avocado sandwich, and it was amazing. The ingredients were so fresh, and the service was fast. All the workers were so friendly and talkative. I love the TVs to watch while I was eating. Everyone in the restaurant seemed so happy with their food. They were very accommodating to any dietary needs of their customers. I definitely recommend this place as it has something for everyone! It's a great new addition to Sherman Ave, and I look forward to coming back. I want to try everything on the menu! read more

Loved the look of this restaurant! Great spot for lunch! We had the BLT and Turkey Avocado. Both sandwiches were tasty, and the pickle was my favorite!!! The chips left quite a bit to be desired. Had the Cali bagel and was surprised at how sloppy it was. I think they must use some kind of whipped cream cheese instead of the regular kind because it made it impossible to pick up the bagel sandwich. The garnish of oranges and strawberries was nice, but that was about it. read more

Love this place. We eat here virtually EVERY time we come to CDA. The food is good, they've got a few nice beers on tap, the staff is friendly and the owner's from good ol New York!!!! I'm from New York too so she n I will gab about it, which is always nice. The best part of that is that Rustic has the BEST New York quality pizza I have found since I Left New York 22 yrs ago. My daughter can't get enough of their pizza. And almost every time we go there, we wind up leaving with a loaf or two of their awesome bread. Can't say enough good things about this place. There is a great burger selection, with specials of the day including a free brew of choice from local area breweries on Sundays. I haven't had a menu item yet that was anything less than delicious. I've only been here a couple of times, but I have not yet been disappointed. Much to the contrary, I have found everything about this bakery quite great. What I find to be the most interesting find is that their pizza is by far the best I've had in Coeur d'Alene so far, and I've been looking; even reheated it was leagues above anywhere else I've tried. My friend that I went with got a sandwich, apparently it was pretty fantastic as well. The service is quick and everyone there is quite nice, so I would certainly say it is definitely worth a try. I cannot state how much I recommend you go try their pizza though, just get a slice or two. read more

Terrible breakfast. Only a few selections, because everything is pre-made. I ordered the oatmeal because everything else was so much food (3 eggs) and so bread-centric. The oatmeal was awful. The waitress warned me that the crock would be hot. Of course it was, that is the only thing that got hot in its 90 second pass through in the microwave. The oatmeal itself had a large lukewarm dry masses in the center like wallpaper paste, it was not fresh or uniformly heated, however, there was liquid surrounding it that was hot, which contributed to the suspicion that they threw oatmeal and water into a crock and microwaved it. It came with toast, which I probably wouldn't have eaten even if it had been good, but it was cold. If you like places where you eat with plastic utensils and paper cups, by all means come here. Be warned that the coffee barely counts as coffee. read more

Menu looked great, but was deceiving. Soup in a bread bowl is soup in a ceramic bowl with dry toast. You can tell a lot about a place by the quality of coffee served. First pot was the color of tea, I asked for a refund and they refused and said they'd make a new pot. $5 for 2 drips and another $2.50 for watery hot chocolate. Bitter and burnt. Strike 1. Breakfast menu is very limited, one plus is the fresh bread but that's where any pros end. One scrambled breakfast came out with no veg or cheese as asked, eggs were browned and did not get scrambled showing a lot of whites. Hash browns were hard to eat, over salted and greasy. Bacon wasn't even cooked fully. French toast so hard, forget trying to cut it with a plastic knife and fork plus your fresh fruit is green melon and 5 slices of banana all of which is a complete rip off. Third breakfast equally disappointing, egg and bacon panini. No grill marks on the panini, Brown/white eggs again and one slice of bacon in the entire sandwich. Strikes 2 & 3. Cheap quality, over priced for the quality of food and staff who were fowl mouthed and loud enough for all to hear. Cute concept, terrible food and extremely disappointing. Will not be back. read more
