Mr. Wanderlust - A place to experience a quiet drink and conversation before you progress to the next room

Gumbo Brothers made the night…read more... Stumbled into this portion of level 8, after the vibes were mild near the carousel rooftop bar. Good size crowd, but it was easy enough to get a drink from the bar. Vibes were good and got better when the Gumbo Brothers came on. They are a cover band, but specific to hip hop and RnB, and they killed it. Jay on the sax was amazing, and Apollo on the mic was perfect. We will be back on Friday or Saturday, since I believe that's when the Gumbo Brothers are there.

A 20% tip was already included, plus they charged an additional 10% tax on the tip and another 3% credit card processing fee. At this point, it honestly feels like the restaurant is looking for every possible way to squeeze money out of customers. It comes across as a scammy way of doing business. To make matters worse, everything on the menu is already overpriced, and the tables are so small they can barely fit one plate comfortably. The food was just okay. The only thing I'll give them credit for is that the drinks were good. Unfortunately, the service wasn't impressive either. We had to wait quite a while before the server came around to take our order. Overall, the experience wasn't worth the price. Between the overpriced menu, excessive fees, tiny tables, and slow service, I wouldn't be rushing back.

We were honestly falling asleep waiting for the actual entertainment to begin. The entire night felt chaotic from the moment we arrived. You spend time getting dressed up, planning a date night, driving downtown, and trying to be excited for the experience, only to park in a dark lot with feces and urine in the stairway. It was scary and disgusting. We looked past the parking lot situation because we were excited to enjoy our night out, but unfortunately the experience only got worse from there. The waitress kept pushing us to order more items, which made the whole night feel like a money grab. The food was absolutely embarrassing and nothing like what was advertised in the gallery photos on the website. It honestly felt like it came straight from Costco. Other reviews mentioned food being served on paper plates, and we can confirm that we experienced that too. The slice of pizza was literally Costco pizza. The pizza and snacks were cheap, low-quality, and nowhere near what you would expect for the price. It really makes you wonder how many people feel misled by that kind of advertising. There was also a complete lack of control and management. People who did not pay for reserved seating were hovering nearby, ready to take your seat the second you got up to use the restroom or go to the dance floor. We saw multiple people weasel their way into reserved lounge and table areas on the ground floor. At one point, a couple was even going through someone's fur coat and looked close to taking belongings before the actual couple returned. That alone says a lot about the environment and lack of security. The billing situation made it even worse. The waitress quickly skipped through the itemized receipt, which made it easy to miss that a 20% tip had already been included. We ended up tipping on top of the included gratuity and only realized it afterward. At that point, we felt completely scammed. We spent over $300, and the overall experience and management were absolutely not worth it. To be fair, some of the acts were great and the band was great. Separate from that, everything else was as mentioned. Between the deceptive billing, weak drinks that barely seemed to have alcohol, the delayed start, boring dance lessons, embarrassing food, poor seating control, and lack of management, the whole experience was extremely disappointing. I definitely do not recommend reserving seats, drinking at this event, or buying their food. Eat dinner beforehand and do not worry about arriving on time, because the show does not really start until around 10:30 anyway. We left feeling scammed.

We also had the opportunity to watch the game so if you to watch the game you'll have the opportunity with any good company. The performers are very welcoming. This place serves mostly comfort food so think of fried fish, chicken baked and fried. We were a medium sized group of about ten and they also have a private area if you wanted to celebrate or have a private area for a larger group maybe around the side of about 15+ where you can get catered area for your group. When it comes to parking, they have street parking. They also have a parking lot and across the street there's a city parking lot that you can use. For all public parking read the signs. Great place for old-school jazz vibes and a sporty night club Jazz vibes. Areas for improvement: Server had too many tables you were working so we had to wait when we needed to order and also get the item we needed for our food once it came. By the time the celebrate ordered and received their food. The rest of the table was finished eating. I believe working on the amount of staff at the venue for special nights or when larger party should be considered.

As for the drinks, the Silk Blossom was my favorite! It was delicious and definitely my pick of the night. The Ape Shit, on the other hand, was a little too sweet for my taste. The customer service was truly superb. The short-haired woman, who I believe was the hostess, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and professional. Our waitress, Desiree (I believe that was her name), was also wonderful. She was very knowledgeable, took the time to explain everything clearly, and made sure we understood our options. Overall, between the amazing entertainment, fantastic atmosphere, and outstanding customer service, Andy's made for a memorable night out. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for a fun evening with great performances and excellent hospitality! One last thing, it is a bit on the expensive side, but it's L.A. people. You're paying for the vibe. No regrets.
