First time for everything I guess but everything started off so well. My friend and I selected a high top table that looked nice because it was at a window but not a good thing in sight out the window to view upon. The bartender/waitress; probably more so a bartender asked us what we wanted to drink and gave us our menus with a insert for the daily specials. There were about 5 special items with two soups of the day. I told are server we had a Groupon to use which included food and drink. She was good at recommending things and very accommodating. We were told that all the meat was smoked in their smoker and the burgers were hand packed, very alluring indeed. I was recommended the special the beef brisket; philly style with peppers and onions. My friend ordered the special burger with bacon and blu cheese. My brisket was sliced with thin and served in a hoagie roll roasted a little more than what I would have liked since the edges of the meat were crispy. It may have been ok if it was oozing with cheese because that would been how a original philly is done and the cheese would have held up well during roasting. My friend liked her burger but agreed there could have been more of it but she said it tasted okay.. On the side of both entrees came a side of fries, the fries were very very good. Along with that came a small dish of another side either macaroni, potato salad or coleslaw. We were recommended the Mac salad which was good. I usually pass on dessert but they had a homemade ice cream with cookies, in a jar that I had to try. I enjoyed it and compared it to the recent buy in Massachusetts's of cake in the same kind of jar and thought these to be better but maybe because of the additional ice cream. Service was good until we got the check which she recited the bill totals to us; the price before and after the groupon and walked away with the check in her hand. Felt kind of weird about it all and never had a bill not given to me at any place I ever eaten at before. Maybe she was distracted because other customers came in. The entrees were both $9.99 and we had 3 craft like beers and dessert which was $3.99 each so we figured in our head the total has to be about $48 what she was stating and tipped her accordingly. I would go back to give it another whirl another time and heard to try the pizza.

I've driven passed The Rustic Barn for the past ten years on my way up north and each time I pass I want to go in. Well, finally we made it in last week and there was a reason I've always felt drawn to this incredibly welcoming space. Warm and inviting was the vibe as we walked in. You know the feeling when you go into a bar as an out-of-towner and the music stops (cue the needle scratch on the record) and everyone stares at you? Well that ain't going to happen here. All friendly vibes here. Plus there's a fireplace raging (in the winter) and live great music. It's a perfect spot to hang out and grab a beer. They also have food on the menu, we didn't eat though. Local beers on tap, I had the Davidson IPA and it was fantastic! It's a local beer from Glens Falls NY. The proprietors were fantastic, friendly and awesome people. I love this place and will definitely return often.

Just a small, unassuming, laid back bar atmosphere with some solid food. We started with the homemade mozz sticks. 4 large logs that were fried until the cheese was almost liquid. These were the main reason I wanted to come here and they were great. Next I got a Caesar salad. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the dressing on this and couldn't eat much of it. It just tasted like straight anchovies. Last I got one of the specials, a chicken parm sandwich. It came with a nice big cutlet, lots of sauce, and cheese on a ciabatta roll served with fries. I liked the sandwich a lot and the sauce went really well with it. The fries were obviously made in house because they were thick wedges. Not my favorite style but good if you are into that. They don't have a huge menu but it's got all the staples. Next time I go I definitely want to try the wings.

The drinks came out quickly after we ordered them. The food took a decent amount longer. While we did wait 30 minutes for our food when it wasn't very busy , when it did come out it was hot and delicious. People kept telling me, " It's across the street from The Ruck. You know, The Ruck?" That was no help to me. I was unfamiliar with this tavern. To think that it's more famous than the county offices sparked my curiosity. So after I took care of my paperwork with the county I stopped in at The Ruck. I would describe it as a business and dive bar that makes craft beers. I made it in for lunch on a weekday. I took a seat at the bar. I was surprised to see the menu was quite extensive. There was a nice selection of soups. I ordered a cup of Greens and Beans along with 5 oz. of Fat Orange Cat Brew Chonky . I liked the beer. The soup was quite good, too. The man seated next to me was eating wings. He was raving about them. He said they were the best in town. I'll have to try them next time. Service is very good. The bartender was a good guy. Very nice and helpful. He said that on football game nights the bar is packed with Bills fans. Sounds like a lot of fun.

I ordered this as takeout and just had to take a couple of bites in the car before going home to try it nice and warm. This kind of sandwich is hard to find. A special roll needs to be used for this called a kimmelweck roll. A kimmelweck (or kummelweck) roll is a crunchy, Kaiser-type bread roll topped with coarse salt and aromatic caraway seeds, primarily known for defining the Buffalo, New York, "beef on weck" sandwich. Originating from 19th-century German immigrant traditions, they are usually filled with roast beef and soaked in au jus. The sandwich was loaded with juicy flavorful roast beef. The bun had caraway seeds and coarse salt all over the top of it which complimented the beef deliciously. It also had a horseradish sauce on the sandwich, so good. It was served with tasty fries and two little cups of au jus. I would definitely order this again.
