I had some major work done on my prized 87 VW Westfailia. Seam rust was showing through and we both knew there would be much more underneath than was visible. We discussed the scope of work, indicating on a diagram what I wanted addressed. I was lucky Rus is very good at communicating what he was finding. He gave me the opportunity to make decisions along the way to keep costs down (or high in my case due to my decision to continue along expensive paths). Regardless, I had no surprises along the way. Rus sent photos and videos regularly, we texted and spoke on the phone when necessary. Rus went out of his way to be available after hours and on weekends since I was driving in from Vancouver. He showed me the major surgery completed to remove the rust and the reconstruction. His body metal fabrication skills are excellent. His body work skills are also impressive. The thing I most appreciated about Rus is that he is an honest, compassionate straight shooter. Although the work I had done cost far more than I expected, I have no doubt the hours he spent were more than fair. For each payment I made I received a full account of the minutes spent on each task. Rus worked tirelessly to meet my deadlines. He used the most appropriate materials and always kept me in the loop. This type of vehicle restoration is not for the faint of heart. I wouldn't wish it on anyone but when it's necessary, I can recommend rustoration auto. They have the right skills and tools to get the job done properly. A body shop generally is not equipped to restore the damage caused by rust. Body metal must be sand blasted or cut out and replaced. Don't be fooled by low quotes from an autobody shop, it's quite likely you'll only be receiving a spray over which ultimately masks the problem until it reappears much worse a year down the road. read more

Rus Wallden began doing body work in the 70's, out of a small Surrey garage. He had the pleasure of doing the complete restoration of a customer's '58 Impala that went on to win several awards, and is currently restoring another '58 Impala for himself. His passion for highly durable, top quality work is evident in every job he does. Rus despises rust so much that rust removal is now his specialty. Since January of 2014, he has been putting his 40+ years of extensive knowledge & experience to good use with RustBlasters, formerly known as RusToration Auto.

Meet the Business Owner: Rus W.

Rus grew up in Surrey & was known for his '58 Impala, which his friends loved to cruise in on the weekends. He still owns that well-known '58 & is in the process of restoring it to its former glory. Rus has been in the automotive repair, rust removal, body work & paint industry for more than 40 years. He started out in his garage, working after hours & on his days off from his work for BCAA as an Emergency Road Service Driver. He is known for his honesty & integrity, in all things, which builds trust & confidence in his customers. Having witnessed extremely unethical & dishonest practices in some shops, Rus is determined to go above & beyond for his customers, with full transparency at all times. As work on a project progresses, Rus takes numerous pictures & videos to show exactly what is being done, emailing or texting them to the customer regularly, so that the customer is always in control of what is done & the cost involved. Stefan worked so hard to find me great prices on the parts needed to repair my vehicle. He took the time to show me exactly what needed fixing and how it should look after they finish it. Communication is key for me when I'm dealing with car things. I don't feel knowledgeable enough to know when I'm being ripped off, so I'm always appreciative of staff who take the time to explain the details in terms that I understand. They even covered the cost of a rental car for a week (conveniently located right next to the shop). When I got my car back it had been detailed inside and out. I'm not sure if that is standard practice, but I sure noticed the difference.

We own a small teardrop trailer that had a peeling paint due to one too many summers in the Okanagan before we owned it. We wanted to repaint the damaged portion (which was 2/3 the trailer). We visited Rus and he looked at the trailer and discussed options for this. He was candid regarding our options and left us with a few suggestions. Over the next few months as we started to do the prep work ourselves (the worst part of any job), we reached out to Rus occasionally for advice and he was generous with both his time and his knowledge. After finishing our prep work we dropped the trailer off with Rus and let him work his magic. Rus kept us updated with a few videos of the work in progress. A few days later we picked up our trailer. Had a great experience with Rustblasters! I was looking for a place to get my 72 Challenger Rallye blasted & primed, and came across their posting online. After calling Rus and chatting a bit I knew they were the place to go. I live 50min away from their shop, and I have to say, it was well worth it hauling my car to them. They took my car in on a weekend and got it finished and back to me in a hurry. During the whole process Rus was up front about costs and estimates. As well as giving me the freedom to make decisions on how much time/money to put into it. As a "Huge" plus Rus sent me pics & videos as the car made the transformation from rusty clunker to blasted and primed beauty. They took care to mask off areas where I will be having more fun cutting and patching. Then as the cherry on top he gave me a discount for being a veteran! Amazing service!!! read more

Shops that integrate fabrication, blasting and paint all under one roof are rare. My online search for such a facility took me to Rustblasters. I met with Rus on site to go over a complex job for a large diesel generator I was rebuilding. The job involved electrical component dis-assembly, fabrication, blasting and industrial grade marine enamel application. Throughout the restoration process I was kept in the loop with regular text messages containing pictures and video of the work as it progressed. This level of transparency was welcome and allowed rapid decision making throughout the project. Regular communication meant that there were no surprises when it was time to make a progress payment. I would recommend RusBlasters to anyone looking for an honest shop to assist with their project. read more

I went to get some scrapes and gouges out of my front bumper and near the trunk. I was stunned when the owner quoted me a very good price, and even stuck to that price when he had to put in extra time. (About 5 hours) The job looks great and the staff were excellent.
