Very cold scrambled egg mixture (not even real eggs) and the "charred" home fries.
Kay M.

The place is understaffed for servers and the cooks need to pay attention to the food. The home fries were so charred that they were inedible, the pea meal bacon for the eggs Benedict was the toughness of shoe leather and the hollandaise sauce serving was paltry. I had to flag down the waiter to get my drink order and then had to go to the bar and get it myself. The food temperature was tepid, at best. In hindsight, we should have sent the food back and just left. It was such an underwhelming experience and to have driven an hour to get there was just adding insult to injury. The photo is from the Farmer's breakfast and the space you see is where the toast was, which was the only decent thing on the plate. The cooks need better training and the management needs to ensure enough wait staff are on hand, especially when a large group books on a Sunday.

Chocolate ganache cake

Best burger in Burlington, hands-down!! The beef and bison burger is juicy and full of flavor. It is also served with a shuffle fry and garlic aïoli, it's delicious!!! I've been on many occasions and they never disappoint. The service is friendly and great the chefs are culinary pros and very accommodating. Their pork belly and brussels sprouts are also extremely delicious. If you enjoy those flavours and they're comfy duck served with roasted seasonal veggies is to die for. Great drinks too, amazing date night spot in Burlington away from the busyness of the downtown area.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time! We ordered the bison burger and the beef short ribs based on recommendations and we couldn't have been more satisfied with our choices. The menu itself if pretty unique, they offer a range of food that you won't find at your average bistro bar. They also offered an off menu item of beef Wellington which I appreciated since you can't find that plate very often at all in, let alone in Burlington. Service was great, there were only two people taking care of the full restaurant but they seemed to know what they were doing.

What a great place Awesome food Great ambiance Efficient and attentive service My kind of music playing Glad we found it and we will be coming back often

Crabcake eggs benny zomg so good
Shane M.

Perfect brunch on Sunday. I got the crab eggs benny and my pal got the farmers breakfast. Server was attentive and knowledgeable and friendly and the food itself was hot, flavorful and perfect. The crab cakes were crispy and flaky and juicy and the potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crunchy. Her breakfast was more basic but perfectly executed. Rye toast was fresh and delicious and the bacon was mouthwatering.

This is place so cute inside and has great food! I had the honey ham eggs Benedict and it was delicious. A great hollandaise sauce and crispy and flavourful potatoes! The side salad was kind of bland but this healthy piece helps to bring the meal together. My friends came and also had various eggs Benny dishes and everyone highly enjoyed their food. I would highly recommend this place to for brunch

The steak was good but the Korean Cauliflower and Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts we're great!

Steak tartar. Delicious!

Not a rusty place at all! Very hip. Nice decor and open space. Open kitchen that you can sit and stare at, with a bar attached. The staff was great here and very attentive. The food was delicious. We had the steak tartar and crab cakes. So good! Recommended. Nice bar area to hang out at too, if you're just in for a beverage. Overall good vibes and a hidden gem. Will have to try it again for dinner to see if this rating should go up! If you're in the area, check this place out!

Found this place when I was looking for a brunch place close by our place. I love the decor inside and the servers were attentive. I got sold once I saw that they serve this Crab Cake Egg Benedict xD We had 7 people so the food took a little longer to come but I think most of us enjoyed our food. Hubby said that his chorizo bennies was nothing special but the crab cake one tasted egg-cellent and I would come back for it :)

Tasty brunch. Our entire group enjoyed our food. The $5 mimosas were a fun addition. Will be back.

My party of four visited during Taste of Oakville, and in hindsight, the evening foreshadowed…read moreitself early -- the restaurant's website was down with a 404 error, and we kept finding two different addresses (one apparently their old location). We eventually found it. Upon arrival, the door swung open and struck a seated guest -- a sign of just how small the space is. The restaurant was full except for one four-top (clearly ours), and we stood awkwardly in the entrance -- which is essentially inside the dining room -- waiting to be acknowledged. When greeted, we were asked if we had a reservation. We said yes. "Table for eight?" we were asked, which felt impossible given the size of the room. We clarified four, and were pointed to the only open table. No name was requested; we realistically could have just walked in and taken it. The space is starkly lit with aggressive bright white lighting that feels more clinical than cozy. The artwork is interesting and gives a gallery-like feel -- it seems the restaurant is aiming for a downtown Toronto wine bar aesthetic, but it doesn't quite land. Our table was missing water glasses, and the stemware was mismatched -- not in an intentional, charming way, but more in a "we ran out" way. Once seated, we weren't acknowledged or offered water for nearly 20 minutes. Not rushing guests is one thing; leaving them feeling forgotten is another. When our server finally arrived, the service set the tone for the evening. One glass of water was poured before he realized another was missing. He disappeared, returned with a glass, inspected it mid-pour, then walked away again (dirty glass). After several more trips and long gaps, everyone eventually received water -- about 15 minutes later. He was polite and friendly, just clearly untrained. He shared that the owner is also the sommelier, cook, and server, and that he liked working there because he wasn't expected to know much about wine -- an interesting admission for a wine bar. The owner greeted us warmly but asked only one guest about wine preferences -- ironically the only non-wine drinker at the table. The concept appeared to be sommelier-led, though this was never explained. If that is the intention, engaging the entire table is essential. That said, the wines themselves were enjoyable; the service surrounding them was not. The Taste of Oakville menu promised three curated 3-oz pours paired with a charcuterie board for two. The pours arrived unevenly and slowly, with little explanation of the pairings. The charcuterie boards were plain and inconsistent between tables despite containing similar items -- basic fruit, crostini, simple cured meats, small portions of brie, and two slices of truffle cheese. No crackers, spreads, or thoughtful touches elevated the experience, and presentation varied noticeably. Our second wine pour didn't arrive until our mains, and service moved so slowly we requested a wine list to order a bottle. We were told there is no wine list -- "we're not that kind of restaurant." Instead, all reds are $80 and all whites $70, and the owner selects the bottle for you after asking only red or white. The concept might work if explained upfront; without context, it was confusing. At one point, noticing my empty glass, our server poured me a random red -- which turned out to be the same wine as our first pour -- and then left without serving anyone else. We had to remind staff we were still waiting for our second curated pour. Nothing about the experience felt curated. The most surprising moment of the night came when our mains arrived. As we lifted our appetizer plates -- still holding olive pits, fruit rinds, and crumbs -- the servers told us not to worry about clearing them and proceeded to place our main dishes directly on top of the used plates. I'm still shocked. I wouldn't do that at home, let alone expect it at a Lakeshore, or quite frankly, any restaurant. Two of us ordered the tagliatelle, which was tasty but contained only two small pieces of short rib -- and was difficult to enjoy while staring at discarded rinds beneath the plate. The other two ordered brisket sliders: two sliders, no sides. They tasted good but left diners hungry. One guest joked they kept thinking the fruit rinds were fries -- unfortunately accurate. We tried to make the best of the evening, but it never delivered the cozy wine-and-charcuterie experience we had anticipated -- dim lighting, thoughtful pairings, something special. After finishing our meal, we requested our bills and reminded staff we were still waiting for the third curated pour. We were told "five minutes." Those five minutes never came. Eventually, wanting simply to leave, we paid a single combined bill and sorted it out ourselves. Dinner for four totaled $460. This was not the boutique Lakeshore dining experience we expected, and ultimately, it was deeply disappointing.

Fine Dining... casually!…read more When a restaurant delivers the best meals, with top shelf service in an intimate setting, you call that Michelin Star or at least recommended. When you do it effortlessly, you call that Buvette, a new standard in Casual Fine Dining. I had the most wonderful evening at Buvette in Burlington. Yes ... Burlington. Far away but worth the drive. Step in and friendly salutations are offered, along with overheard lively conversations of happy patrons that have been looking forward to a night out. It's been a long few years, and Buvette has spent their time setting up and after only opening 8 months ago, they are shaking up the dining scene. The home reimagined and constructed into Buvette is gorgeous. The passthrough fireplace, with Buvette proudly emblazoned on it, plays the center piece. The sunken sunroom dining area, the intimate bar, stairs to the second floor dining area all pass by warmth of the fire. And of course, opposite to the fireplace is the glass encased small collection of fine wines. Though Buvette is a Winebar, let's not forget their handcrafted cocktails. The owner was cheeky and named them after businesses around the historic Village Square of Downtown Burlington. From carpaccio to cauliflower bites, burrata to pastas, steaks to lobster, the names may be standard, but the food here is elevated to a whole new level. My fav? Obvisouly The Buvette Signature Share Platter! A mouthwatering board featuring steak, lobster, shrimps, lamb, and all the fixings. Whether you are here for vibes and drinks, spend some quality time with family, or a special someone, you really came to the right place. My night was amazing, however, take a gander at the menu before heading out. The place is casual but don't forget, it is Fine Dining. Bring your card made of metal... or someone you know that is!!! Downtown Burlington continues to impress me as a place for upscale living, and I think Buvette has given me another reason to perhaps make a move? Hmmm... CHEERS!!!

We were seated and our coats were checked. There were 6 of us total but our server made sure we had drinks while everyone was arriving. We order drinks and then appetizers for the table. They brought out bread and olive oil which was incredible. I think we went through like 6 servings. It was SO good. Along the way, the sommelier came by to introduce herself and make some wine pairing recommendations based on our orders. For appetizers we shared the arancini (a second choice since the polenta fries weren't available), the calamari with shishito peppers, and the cheese with figs I can't remember which. All were very good! My favourite was the cheese. For my entree I had the soup of the day which was a tomato bisque with some fennel, topped with croutons, tomatoes, and cheese. They pour it table side. I loved it. I also had the spicy rigatoni pasta which the server recommended. I was choosing between that and the lasagna but my partner ordered the lasagna so I could try it. It was very good but I was happier with my pasta. For dessert they brought us tiramisu and sparklers, as we were celebrating 2 birthdays. I would go back for many reasons, but the tiramisu is at the top of the list. An exceptional meal altogether. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and we had a wonderful time overall.

It was a wonderful atmosphere with soft instrumental music and the ability to hear the conversation of people at your table. To start, there was toasted bread with feta cheese and dill pickles. The starter salad was a huge supper entree size plate. The choice wax garden or Cesar. You could get the French Onion soup instead. Had the main Filet Peppercorn sauce. Asked for medium rare and it was amazing but it had a little much gravy for my liking. The baked potato side was a nice side (not too big) which came with butter and sour cream versus having french fries. Veggies were a few string beans, a slice of a big carrot and a piece of red sweet pepper. The plating of such fine expensive entrees was not very sophisticated.
