She wrote a strong, smart defense brief and even used a public records request to force the prosecution to produce a document that helped my case. She thinks creatively and knows the law. But she was also a diva. She got irritated when I asked for basic updates, even though attorneys are supposed to keep clients informed. She ghosted me before the hearing and again afterward, so I hired someone else. I'd been burned by my first attorney, so I made it clear I needed to see every brief and exhibit before meeting the judge. When she tried to schedule that meeting without giving me the documents, I requested a continuance. I got it--but then she vanished for three months, held the hearing with minimal communication, and never returned another call or email. If you don't need much communication from your attorney, she might work for you. Otherwise, be cautious.

I had this guy as an arbitrator. I have primary custody of my children due to an ex-wife and her…read morefamily that seriously misbehaved. There is over an 8 plus years history of court findings and rulings that clearly explain why I have primary custody. This guy did not take into account any of the 8 plus years of that history in his decision. In fact, he treated me like I was the parent who did not have primary custody! He failed to look into my ex-wife's 8 plus years pattern of lies and deception in the courts and all that was called out in the courts findings and rulings. He gave her everything she was trying to get and it was clear to me that he was bias in his decision making. He actually accused me of purposely doing something when there was no evidence to support such a claim. I think he knew her attorney and the outcome was predetermined. Any arbitrator should never be allowed to overturn court findings and rulings that were done through the trial process. I would highly recommend that you do NOT allow him to arbitrate a case your involved in.

Update: I got an…read moree-mail from the attorney, Scott with an apology and explanation of what went wrong. Apparently he did go to court and got my speeding ticket amended to a cell phone ticket (non reportable) with a $190 fine. I never got this information so I still have to pay $242 because now it's overdue. He offered to return the legal fees as he wouldn't want to take money from an unhappy client which was nice. However, just as I'm sure his reputation is important to him, my reputation is important to me and having my license suspended and having my name wrung through the courts as a late paying citizen just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. At least he was upstanding enough to realize how bad this situation looks for me and offered an apology and refund.
