They totally wasted our time. I drove an hour to Russ Darrow Metro Mazda to test drive a specific used CX-30 they had for sale. I was scheduled to meet with Robyn and received many emails and texts from her and some AI bots the day prior and the morning of, pestering me whether I would be there. When we arrived, we met Robyn and she went to get the keys for the test drive but the car was nowhere to be found and the manager was "tracking it down". The car was finally located at another Russ Darrow about a half hour away. We were asked to either wait or return in a couple hours once they were able to bring it there and complete their detail service. You'd think when someone inquires about a specific car, their next step would be to make sure that car is actually on site? Nope! This leads me to think maybe this was a bait and switch attempt. Next time I will confirm they have hands on the vehicle. We didn't wait around and went to get lunch instead. After giving it some thought, we decided not to return when the vehicle was finally there. Instead we asked for some OTD pricing if we were to return for an actual test drive. We never received that but we DID receive more "Are you still looking for a car?" and "How can we help?" texts and emails from them. We were primed and ready to buy a car that day and did buy one from another dealer who had their car waiting out front for us when we arrived for the test drive...how it should be done. read more

Terrible service center that will forget to do servic that you asked for. The service center always understaffed on the weekends when most people are available to bring their cars in. Their sales people will try to squeeze you for everything they can, and when they sell you a vehicle with issues they will not stand by their product. Avoid them if trying to buy a Mazda. I don't write reviews often, but the lack of professionalism here needs to be called out. Our sales representative, Janae, was genuinely great... helpful, kind, and professional. I hate that she is wrapped into this review. Unfortunately, the issues we experienced were entirely due to dealership management, not her. We test drove a 2019 RAM truck and agreed to pay full sticker price because we felt the price was fair and reasonable. We were pre-approved to pay the full price through our own bank at ~6% APR, but allowed the dealership to explore financing. When the price sheet came back, the numbers were shocking: nearly $800/month on a ~$30k vehicle over 72 months. They refused to disclose the interest rate (which we later estimated to be almost triple our pre-approval), and we noticed thousands added in fees, including a $500 "security etch" and a maintenance warranty we explicitly declined. Management insisted these add-ons and their financing were mandatory if we wanted the vehicle. When we questioned this and asked to speak with the manager, we were told to either accept the deal as-is or leave. Despite agreeing to STICKER PRICE THAT THEY ASKED FOR, they refused to sell the vehicle unless we accepted unnecessary fees and a much higher interest rate than our pre-approval. This dealership does not act in good faith. The pricing is misleading as they impose scammy fees. We paid sticker price, the price they wanted, and they still refused. This behavior was entirely unprofessional, and is exactly why car dealers have a bad reputation. I hope that they change these practices. read more

Very disappointed. I got mail from manufacture Mazda about recall (something with airbags) but there wasn't any problems with my vehicle (Mazda CX-30 2025). I brought my vehicle to the service they did change the oil and filters and fix this manufacture recall thing, after service same day check engine light turned on, I brought the vehicle back, they start sending to me every day different videos with different problems, then they lost for two weeks, after 2 weeks they call me and tell me that the reason is bad gas E55 send me a picture with wired can with like they sad the gas from my vehicle, and this is not warranty this my responsibility and they charge me almost 1200$ for repair... I don't believe in coincidence... Me and my wife put the gas on same gas station for a long time nothing happened before with all three our vehicles. I put gas in this vehicle 3 days before service I didn't have any issues, everything was great, after service I didn't put any gas same day check engine same day bring the vehicle back. I also talked to manager on the gas station there is no problem at all with nobody. I like Mazda and like Russ Darrow, this is the first time when they did what they did, but this is not ok. I went to the dealer to test drive a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica listed online for a "cash price of $15,995. However, when I indicated an interest in purchasing in cash I was told that to "get the cash price" I had to agree to also buy $4,000+ of dealer added services (fabric sealants and other things I did not want or need and knew to be grossly overpriced). They will lie about the features because they actually have no idea and then be super mean and hostile with you when talking about prices. Stay away! I contacted the dealer on a Sunday. I know they are closed on Sunday, so I was pleasantly surprised when I got a text message back right away. I set up an appointment on Monday evening they asked if I would like them to hold the car for me. I said yes, because I was ready to buy with cash in hand. I got an email and a call from Peyton the salesman on Monday morning confirming our appointment. He then sent me an odd video of a wall confirming the appointment again. I arrived for my appointment about 20 minutes early and Peyton wasn't there. No explanation why, but I understand things happen so another salesman stepped in. He took a picture of my license and kept me waiting. He then brings us outside and shows us a different car and tells us the car I inquired about is sold. I drove 40 minutes after work for a confirmed appointment only to be told the car they were holding for me was sold. I asked why I wasn't called or emailed to be told that it was no longer available. They didn't have a good answer. Apparently they are quick to call and email to confirm your appointment but not to give you the courtesy of telling you that it sold. I guess the odd video of a wall should have been my first clue that they lied about having the car when they confirmed the appointment. I think their motto is lie to the customer to get them in the door and then try to sell them something else. We purchased a 2021 Miata. It was advertised as a "certified" used vehicle. It had some dents, the radio didn't work, and it needed an alignment. Instead of lowering the price they said they would fix it. They wrote it all down on a form that was titled "What you owe and what we owe. Beware of Deceptive Practices at Russ Darrow Mazda I recently had an alarming experience at Russ Darrow Mazda, and I feel compelled to share my story to prevent others from falling victim to what appears to be a calculated strategy by the sales team to sell defective cars under the guise of transparency. Upon my initial meeting with the sales rep, I was presented with a Carfax printout and a comprehensive list of repairs allegedly completed by the Russ Darrow service team. This gave the impression of excessive transparency regarding the car's state and condition. In hindsight this presentation was a distraction from a major issue not included in the printouts. After agreeing to terms and attempting my down payment (initially rejected by bank, was in process of increasing limit), I proceeded to the finance office. There, I was handed a document with complete car info that I was legally required to sign to finalize the transaction. In fine print, in the bottom corner of the page, with no context, I see the text "Timing Cover Leaking." This is the first time this text had been presented to me in all of the many printouts presented to me. I ask the manager what that means. He doesn't know -- "[he's] not a mechanic". I ask him to ask the mechanic. The sales rep takes me to the service area where a mechanic tells us the repair would cost over $2,500. Shockingly, the sales rep informs me that the car would be sold "as is," with no intention of addressing the issue or making concessions on the purchase terms. It's crucial to emphasize that a Mazda dealership, equipped with a full-service department, attempted to sell me a used car exceeding $20,000 that required a $2,500 maintenance just to be roadworthy. I then come to find out the other car I was considering had the exact same problem and necessitated the same costly repair. It's evident to me that Russ Darrow's reluctance to rectify the issue or adjust the price is rooted in their expectation of finding customers who may overlook the fine print, paying the full price only to discover the problem shortly after driving off the lot. This experience shattered my confidence in the Russ Darrow Automotive Group team. I suspect a coordinated tactic to sell faulty cars. I strongly discourage buying a car from Russ Darrow. If you do decide to proceed, exercise extreme caution, scrutinize all the fine print on the documents they present, and ensure you are aware of every detail. read more

Scratching my head regarding the sales person named Tim that I was sent to. I contacted Russ Darrow (4/23) for a OTD price on a vehicle I saw on their website. I asked for a reply via email not phone and of course he called left a voice message instead. I couldn't understand most of his message since he spoke 100 miles an hour. (If car sales doesn't work out for him I am sure he'd make a good auctioneer). He then proceeded to email me a video of said vehicle which the speed of the video was hard to follow (the speed was to fast) and the format size was 1/4 size. I know what the vehicle looks like that's why I inquired about it. Yikes. I once again emailed him back asking if the vehicle was there and what the OTD $ is. He responded the next day (11:30 on the 24th) with this comment: Sorry for the delay, I'll touch base with you asap. I bought a used car from Russ Darrow Metro Mazda of Milwaukee on November 23, 2024 (Sold by Elmedin Smajic). The very next day and all the days following the car would not start without being jumped. I took it back to the dealership two days after purchase and they quoted me for a new battery. I then took the vehicle to other shops to diagnose and they all told me the same thing, that something was drawing power from the battery, but the issue was not the battery itself. I took it back to Metro Mazda early December for them to figure out what the issue is (within 30 days of buying), by this point I'd had the battery replaced twice (brand new batteries) for half the price the dealership originally quoted me for. It took them 2.5 months to figure out what the issue was with the car, come to find out it was a heating/cooling mechanism that was not shutting off and drawing power from the battery. On the Wisconsin Buyer's Guide, it confirms that there were no issues with A.) Starting the vehicle, and B.) Heating/Cooling mechanisms within the vehicle. Clearly this was all an issue before I bought the car, I believe Mr. Smajic had to jump the car before bringing it to me for test driving, and now they're telling me that I need to pay $2700 for them to replace the piece that would make this car run like normal. To call this an accredited dealership would be laughable. Russ Darrow Metro Mazda of Milwaukee is a scam and they sell inoperable vehicles to unsuspecting customers, and then foot them with the bill for something that should've been fixed prior to selling it. You will need to repeatedly call them in order to get any type of response, and even that's not guaranteed unless you have time to pull up daily. You've been warned. read more

I will try to be succinct. Our daughter bought her first car, a 2024 Kia with 17k miles on it. 5 days after purchasing, she noticed the steering wheel shaking when braking. I quickly scheduled an appointment. There were loaner issues as well as Kevin who yelled at me telling me that I made my appointment wrong, but that's not even the biggest issue. I was called three days after my service appointment and was told that the vehicle needed new brakes and rotors which I needed to pay for. Since we had just purchased this vehicle, I was concerned (still am) and requested to return the vehicle but that request was ignored. Zoe, the service manager, was able to get the car to Russ Darrow Kia who stated that they were going to provide the service free of charge (Goodwill). I appreciated this. When we picked the car up last night, I was told that the rotors were just resurfaced and that the brake pads were not requested as part of the service from Russ Darrow Mazda. I called Kirsten in the service department and asked her why the brake pads were not replaced when that was what she told me needed to be done. She stated that its procedure to change them both at the same time. I researched this and it seems like she was correct. I emailed Zoe and this is the response that I received. Hey Diane! I was unaware at the time of calling you last evening that after Kia did their inspection for the Goodwill that the pads were in good condition according to their warranty guidelines. Here at Mazda we have different guidelines for Goodwill that require us to replace the brake pads in any situation. I apologize for not having that clarification last evening. I spoke with the manager at Kia and she assured me that the work that was necessary with their inspection was completed and the vehicle is safe to drive! She also told me that they did a wheel balance under Goodwill as well. Again, I am so sorry for the confusion between different Manufacturers!! My concern is why did Mazda tell me to pay for brakes and rotors if all that needed was the rotors? Had I not questioned this need and just paid for it as originally suggested, would I have been being taken advantage of by buying unneeded brakes? And Zoe's response makes me think that (and this was before any Goodwill) Mazda shouldn't be servicing vehicles other than Mazda if they are going to inappropriately charge people. read more

This review is an effect, and the cause was the last oil change I had at their dealership shop. I changed the oil myself this time. The oil drain could not be taken off normally. With a 6-point socket (sockets have some tolerence), with a 6-point wrench (low tolerence), with an impact wrench. I had to go get CRC Freeze Off and fully charge my impact wrench. It took 8 SECONDS OF IMPACTS from the wrench and CRC Freeze Off to unlock the plug. No corrosion, so I do not think this was an accident. read more

Sold us a broken car!! Heartbreaking experience. We went in to test drive a Mazda CX-9 at Russ Darrow Mazda and knew which one we wanted via online research. It said Certified (see attached image) online in their website. Usually certified cars are priced higher because they have gone through the certification process and around $895 is already factored in the car price. If the car is not certified it simply says Used car and is priced lower. We have been to 6 different car dealers during this time and this is the case everywhere except THIS Mazda dealer. Assuming the car was certified based on their website, we went to finalize the deal and when the car price was almost agreed upon, Don, the manager tells us the car is in fact PRE-certified and NOT Certified. He told us we would have to pay the $895 to certify this car. Interesting isn't it ? Makes me wonder whether the delearship as a whole loves to incorrectly market their cars or Don trying to extract money from customers. That was absolutely astonishing as I have never had this experience with any other dealership within 40 miles of Milwaukee. We test drove a few days before we bought the car - our sales associate was good to work with so we decided to go ahead with it. On the day of, after investing 6.5 hours at this dealership, we finally got our new car after 10 pm. The dealership is closed at this time. Don, the manager had told us they will clean the car, fill it up with gas and we will be good to go. Well, when we did get the car, it barely had any gas, so we looked up a gas station and on our way there we saw the front passenger side mirror enclosure is BROKEN. We called the dealership right away and couldn't get through as they were closed so we left a voicemail. Once we reached the gas station we took pictures (see picture). This was not there when we test drove couple days back so we left another voicemail. Next day, we tried to reconnect. Don, the manager didn't get back to us until more than half the day was over. When he did get back to us, he said he couldn't help us. My husband then leaves for the dealership to speak to Don in person and show him the broken enclosure. What happened next left us in SHOCK.. The previous day Don told us to trust him and the dealership while buying the car from them and when my husband met him the next day, he blamed my husband stating we probably broke it in the gas station. He took ZERO responsibility and NO desire even to help us fix this. Total change of personality in 24 hours - such is their service! Buyer BEWARE!!! We trusted Don the previous day due to the way he engaged with us. We couldn't believe this! My husband had spoken to the gas station for a video footage to prove that no damage was done over there however Don spoke rather disrespectfully and that left a super sour taste. Please DO NOT trust them! Might I add that this was a Fleet car so no one else drove or owned this car besides the dealership themselves. Later on, My husband expressed his views about this experience at the dealership online and their general manager called us the same day, trying to rectify the situation in the next few days. It's been over 3 weeks and no call back. So you tell me - can you trust a dealership like this ?? It will probably be $200 more or less to fix this mirror with an in-house service center on a $30,000 car but if a dealership is not willing to do the right thing for fault of their own and blame their customer and risk it's reputation .. then so be it. This is the first time we explored Mazdas and while we like the car, the human connection and customer service experience at THIS DEALERSHIP was AWFUL! If you love Mazdas and value being respected and treated well, there are several great dealerships.. so PLEASE take your business elsewhere. I know I will be for sure. I get the one other person pulled in before me and that person was being helped when I pulled in so I walked into the service office area and come to find out I walked past the manager of service while taking a call so I waited patiently to be helped. Another person pulls in and walks into the service center and the "manager" greets that person and proceeds to help him after I've been standing there for already 5 minutes. Angela has poor communication with customers and wouldn't look forward to going back there to get any vehicle serviced at this location nowhere near or far in the future. That was rude. Not surprised this place as 2 stars. What a horrible experience here. I'll try to keep it simple. Looking at a used car - 2020 Mazda CX-5 - that was listed as a "Single Owner" for $23,500 online and ~50000 miles. With taxes and everything, I figured the car would come to $25,500/$26,000 after taxes and charges. I was handed the CarFax and price of the car. The CarFax listed the car as a "Rental" and the dealership said "one rental car company owned it". Then, the price of the car was $28,500 because they automatically include $3000 in cosmetic "insurance" policy if you spill coffee or get a tear in a seat. You cannot opt out of this. I then test drove the car and after I got it into sport mode, the wheel started to rattle. They claimed it was the wheel alignment and they'd get it fixed. They put it in the shop immediately and got it taken care of but you would figure they would have done their due diligence and noticed the issue. There was another issue with "brake dust" causing a scratching noise. Eventually, when I asked that they guarantee if the "brake dust" doesn't go away - they promised it would - they refused to make that guarantee. As I am outside, the GM (Garrett) comes out and says "I'm cancelling this transaction. We aren't selling to you. This is too litigious" and went back inside and locked the door in my face. I haven't been treated like a POS like that by any company ever, let alone one that I'm considering giving $28,000 to. Horrible customer service, shady bait and switch tactics, questionable listings on their cars, and plenty more that makes me recommend people look elsewhere for their next vehicle. read more

I came in for a routine oil change and tire rotation and it took over 2 hours to get my vehicle back for no reason or explanation. They offered me another free oil change. BUYER BEWARE! If I could give this place zero stars I would for their rude, shady behavior. We went there to purchase a certified pre-owned vehicle we had seen online (having test driven it earlier in the week). When we sat down to sign the paperwork, the sales price was $3,000 more than the price listed online AND they wouldn't accept more than $3k in down payment (we were prepared to pay 1/2 in cash). They said we HAD to finance the rest AND were required to buy the warranty. The sales manager justified the jacked-up price by saying they were selling cars so fast it was a matter of supply-and-demand, yet the listing on their website said this particular vehicle had been on their lot for 90+ days. The inside of the car wasn't clean and many of the vehicles on the lot were dusty or covered in bird poo. They were so condescending and rude, and after reading these other reviews, I'm actually glad we didn't buy the vehicle. We probably saved ourselves a bunch of other problems! After doing a ton of research online to determine the best and most reliable car for our family's needs, we had it narrowed down to three different brands (Honda, Toyota, and Mazda) we made our way to Russ Darrow Metro Mazda (among other car dealers). Our sales person was friendly and accommodating. Initially, we were simply fact finding (looking at their prices and inquiring about current deals). After conducting similar fact finding expeditions at other dealers, and after heading home to mull over all the information we'd been given, we determined the best deal was to be had for us at Mazda. We made our way back and were able to meet with the same sales person whom helped us during our initial visit. They came through with everything we had been initially quoted and offered wonderful service throughout the purchase (and even afterwards as we're having some after market features installed). As we are in the middle of a horrible recession due to a worldwide pandemic, you'd think car dealerships are wanting to sell vehicles. Not here! They were completely insulting to my mother and me. They told my trade in, valued at $11,000 at 3 different dealerships, all of a sudden had dings in it and scratches. There are NO dents, dings or scratches on my car. But they tried telling me there was AND would only quote me $7,000 and showed me other cars... completely different from my own, and what those are going for... why? They were talking down to me and being disrespectful - because I'm a woman! A minority? Young? I would NEVER recommend this dealership and I'm very disappointed that I wasted any amount of time there. read more
