I had a very frustrating experience with Russ Darrow Honda. We are currently searching for a Honda CR-V around the $25,000 range. I was contacted by a salesperson named Daryl Robinson, who told me they were taking in a 2021 CR-V with about 40,000 miles that would be within our budget. He texted me saying the vehicle was in and asked when I could come in. I scheduled an appointment for 2:00 PM. Because I was driving over an hour to get there, I called around 1:30 PM while on the road to confirm the appointment and the vehicle's availability. Daryl confirmed everything. When I arrived at the dealership, the CR-V he referenced was not there, and they didn't have any similar vehicles available. Instead, he immediately tried to switch me to a different vehicle that didn't meet our needs. What made this even worse was how casually it was handled--as if my time and long drive were no big deal. No accountability and no meaningful apology, just a quick attempt to redirect the sale. This felt like a classic bait-and-switch and reflects very poorly on both the salesperson and the dealership. Terrible customer service. I would not recommend this salesperson or this dealership to anyone. read more

Just got back from a visit to see a Civic Type R that they had with an advertised sticker price of 47,500.00 only to get there and see the window sticker noting an additional dealer mark up of FIFETEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS! I don't know if their smoking crack over there or what but you wonder if this dealership values repeat business at all? I've been in for a simple oil change and it ended up taking two hours. I know for a fact that it only takes 10 minutes for an oil change. On another occasion, I had my car in for an oil change and a transmission fluid change and was quoted 3.5 hours. It took a total of 5 hours to complete. When I asked why it took so long, I was told there was only one technican working for ALL the cars. However, I knew this was a lie because I had counted a total of 3 technicians that day walking around. The amount of time it takes to do simple tasks is completely inefficient and unacceptable. Not only that, but they said that I had to pay a $50 "garage fee" that was non-negotiable. I'm sorry, but it does NOT cost $50 to recycle or dispose of parts, especially a few bottles of oil or liquid. Long story short......don't trust a dealership for quality work. They are too expensive and take too long to do anything! To the owner who gave a "default save-face" response, all you would have to do to rectify the issue, is either hire more workers or to fix the efficiency of the technicians. People should NOT be waiting 3-5 hours for a simple oil change and fluid change. Do you not realize that we know how long services are supposed to take? An oil change and transmission fluid change takes about 20 minutes combined, an hour if we are being extremely conservative. Then when i asked your employees why it took 5 hours, they LIE and say that there was only one technicain, when in fact there were at least 3, by my count. And don't blame the "well, your car was 10th in the lineup" excuse. When we make these service requests, we are required to choose a timeslot. If we are choosing a timeslot, it should be expected that our car is worked on starting AT THAT TIME, not waiting in some waitlist. If the service is intended to be a waitlist, then don't let us choose a timeslot; because we both know you're not going to honor the timeslot. He never asked about the type of car or features I wanted. Only about my income and credit, then started filling loan paperwork before ever test driving or discussing a price.... telling me to sign in the line to show I intended to buy the car that day. Russ Darrow Honda's service department is horrible; it cost me $700 here, but nothing was fixed. I still have the related invoices, which I've attached here. Two years ago, the left rear ABS sensor harness of my car was broken. I went to Russ Darrow Honda and spent about $350 to get it fixed (replaced with a new one). However, just one day later, the same part broke again. I returned to Russ Darrow Honda and spent another $350. Unfortunately, the same part broke once again after a few days. I finally got it fixed at Firestone, and it has worked well since then (two years). I asked customer service why, and I was told that it might be due to a rodent bite. Okay, my car had been parked in that parking lot for a year, and I had never seen or heard of any rodents damaging anyone's car. Why did the rodent only bite the part I had fixed at Russ Darrow? And why did it bite it twice? And why, after I had it fixed at Firestone, did that 'magical rodent' never bite it again? Anyway, two years ago, I was experiencing a big life change, and I had no time or energy to ask for a refund. Now that I've moved to another state, I feel the need to share my experience. We took our son's Honda Fit in here for necessary maintenance but asked our service advisor, Rachel Aguilar, if they could also look at two other items of concern. First of all, Rachel was great! She was friendly, engaging, knowledgeable, helpful, and communicative. She definitely added to our positive experience! The service department quickly took care of the maintenance we needed, but also helped us with the two additional items we asked about. A service member even sent our son a video about what was done and recommendations for going forward. Our service appointment was at 10:00, and by 3:00 the car was done. We've haven't had the best of luck with cars lately, so having things go seamlessly at Honda was a nice and much needed experience. read more

The Russ Darrow Honda representative who we checked in with, A. Perez, was helpful. When we called, she gave us an update about the status of the repairs. Our car was also repaired by the technician and we are grateful. We liked the detailed video that showed what needed to be repaired. Of concern (and as clearly posted in the service area) customers are charged 3% for using a credit card. If this were a small business, I would not take issue with a credit card service charge. Russ Darrow Honda is too large of a business for this type of business practice, however. The cost to take one's car in for repairs is more than the independent mechanic and Russ Darrow Honda is part of a larger "Honda" group. This was absolutely classless. We also were supposed to have a "free" car wash. Our car was never washed despite it being with the Russ Darrow Service Department over six hours. Despite having a "reservation" for 7:30am (we arrived slightly earlier), our car also was not serviced until later in the morning as we opted not to wait. We were only told later by Ms. Perez if one does not wait, the walk-in customers will be serviced first if they wait. Well, what is the point of a reservation then? Our time is just as valuable which is why we reserved an early morning reservation. We also were leaving the city that day so this was a huge disappointment as this was communicated when we checked in/upon arrival. We also had our oil changed. We are accustomed to getting the little reminder sticker for the windshield. We were told Russ Darrow's Service Department's printer has been down for "a while". They did not have any alternative solutions. Again, for a service department this large, stickers should have been ordered and the date and mileage for the oil change could have been handwritten. Take care of your customer and the customer will return. We will not be returning. We are accustomed to far better customer service. read more

Do yourself a favor and find a different dealer to buy your car from. It may not be better, but it can't be worse. Finance staff are rude and condescending. Sales person tried to pass off Sales Fee as required by the state. When challenged she produced a brochure that tells you that you are paying for their paperwork with other entities- a scam in itself. Why isn't a service fee covered in the cost of the car - an easy way for them to boost profits and "appear" to keep the price of the car lower. Paperwork personal was awesome. I WISH I COULD I COULD GIVE A NEGATIVE 10!!! We are leasing a 2024 Passport and it was purchased on June 8th. From day one, the touchscreen has been flickering. On the 10th, we came back to the dealership to exchange a key and to get the touchscreen looked at. We sat for about 1 1/2 - 2hrs for them to tell us they didn't see it flicker and did a reset and sent us on our way. The screen started flickering again later that day so I called to make appointment. He checked it out and said it didn't flicker for him but did a factory reset. THAT DIDN'T HELP!!! It flickered AGAIN!!! We called to make ANOTHER appointment!! This time the mechanic had us drive around with him in the car so he could see the flicker. About 5 minutes away from dealership, it flickered. He said he knew what it was and said something needed to be replaced. We made an appointment to come back 6/22 @ 7:15 AM so they could replace it. We sat there for 2 hours.....2 FREAKIN HOURS without an update of what was going on. We were told there was a Cyber Attack on the system and that's why the part couldn't be found. Computers SHOULDN'T be the only way to locate things because look at what happened. We have been at Russ Darrow Honda FOUR TIMES and when we were happy that the touchscreen was going to FINALLY get fixed it did NOT!!! This will NOT be the only review that I leave. I went here to check out a 2009 Honda civic ex. The sales person I set an appointment with to view the car was not there upon arrival. The person who took over, didn't know anything about the vehicle... and awkwardly sat in the back for the test drive. The vehicle was in absolute shambles. The picture I saw on car gurus didn't show the rust on all of the sides of the vehicle. If so, I wouldn't even have bothered showing up. Took it on a quick spin and immediately knew that struts were blown, brakes were trashed and most likely several other suspension components were ruined. It was a incredibly disastrous car to drive. After 5 minutes, the car was dropped back off. To add insult to the entire situation, the back "civic" badge was hanging on by a thread by the time we were done. Hahaha. Went to purchase a used 2013 F 150 and the salesman added a $4000 power train warranty to the price without informing me hoping I wouldn't notice. Plus the vehicle had a broken coil spring on the front driver side which is a safety issue and they completely ignored my concern about them selling the F 150 like that. You have to use a debit card or cash, as using a credit card results in a large transaction fee. After using my debit card here, my number was stolen resulting in large charges from my bank account. I know it was from here, because this is the only place I have ever used that debit card. Luckily my bank was able to help, and with their help I have a police report open. On 29 March 2021 I was in the Milwaukee area and my maintenance minder came on that it was time for an oil change and tire rotation. Not being from the area I googled Honda dealerships. The first one that came up was another dealership in the area that I will not name. I went there first and as soon as I got out of the car I was turned away by the service associate saying "if I didn't have an appointment that I wouldn't be seen". Didn't even try to help me. I then went to Russ Darrow and was greeted by Chris B. I explained to him that I was only traveling through the area and needed an oil change and tire rotation. I said I didn't have an appointment and would wait or possibly come back tomorrow if it worked better. Chris understood my need and said "don't worry we'll help you here". I didn't mind the wait at all, it wasn't even long. Chris was so helpful and kind and just a great human being. Thank you for helping me out! Russ Darrow at 10851 W Metro Auto Mall, Milwaukee, WI 53224. I've had one of the worst experiences buying a car at this location I've ever had. Check them out on Yelp, it's spot on. If they didn't have the car that I wanted, I would've walked right back out of the door. I drove over four hours out of my way and arrived at the dealership a few hours before they closed. I took it for a test drive and we chatted with the salesman for a while. Rowley was nice, but seemed deceptive and dishonest. I was disappointed. It was getting late and I told him there's one other car I'd like to check out and I'd get back to him in the morning. Well, they jacked the price up overnight by almost $800 and claimed that it's out of their control because of "live market pricing" that the price went up BUT they'd honor yesterday's price. UNTIL, I declined their extended warranty. The car was a certified pre-owned car, why would I need an additional warranty on top of it!? It would've cost an extra $1,900! If you didn't know, extended warranties are a big money maker for ANY dealership. That was the whole reason I wanted it because I wouldn't have to pay extra for an extended warranty that has so many fine print exclusions. The finance representative went back to his office and came back out and said he can no longer honor yesterday's price and the salesman said that because we're not local they couldn't honor it. Then the salesman took me out to the car and gave me $200 "of his own cash" to bring me back inside. I watched him go to the cashier and take it from them, not that it matters. It did help offset them jacking up the price a little. Their ethics are nonexistent. I was at the point where I didn't even want to buy any Honda ever because of my experience with them. Are other dealerships trained the same exact way by corporate to be deceptive, dishonest, and arrogant? If it is, I'll never buy another Honda again because of the lack of ethics. Here's a little bonus! They were trash talking the other dealership that had another car I wanted to check out saying that they sell a ton of cars they buy at auction that have flood damage. Van Horn of Ocnomowoc, WI to be specific. They told me that I really need to check over their Carfax because I'm going to get "screwed over". I researched both cars before I went car shopping and both were spotless, not a single thing wrong. Me "getting screwed over" was such an ironic statement coming from them. I ended up buy the car from Russ Darrow but it was simply just a transaction to them. They could care less if ever did business with them again. While I was waiting to get my financial paperwork ready to sign, Rowley, my salesman, told me to go wait in the service department waiting room because his other customers came in and he needed to take care of them. Rowley was decent to talk to, I'll give him that, but I didn't feel like a priority. They could clearly not care any less about us, especially the manager and financial representative. ANY of them. The only one that was straightforward with me was the kind lady that helped me sign all of the loan paperwork. She was quick and courteous. All of the rest of them, not even close. Once I said I'll take the car, they got the paperwork together as fast as they could just to send me on my way. They said all they had to do was clean it up quick and I'd be set! They only ran it through the car wash. The center counsel had soda, juice, and crumbs in it and an old towel left in the trunk. Their "we'll save you time and money" slogan is such a blatant lie. I have been a Honda owner (and lover) since 1995. I'm highly disappointed in Honda, Russ Darrrow and the service manager. December 21, 2021 I purchased genuine Honda parts for a brake/rotor replacement. The parts come with a 12 month manufacturers warranty. I have NEVER had problems with my OEM parts, NEVER. This set of brakes and rotors failed due to rust in less than 8 months of daily use. Russ Darrow had mileage at install and mileage when I brought the 2017 Civic Si in for vibration and soft pedal feel. The advisor admitted that this shouldn't be but his hands are tied because Honda won't warranty rust...the rust is a defect. The car hasn't been sitting, as proven by the mileage, the parts are DEFECTIVE. Instead of the service department advocating for me, the customer, they wanted me to pay for another complete brake/rotor replacement in less than 9 months. Instead of Russ Darrow realizing the defective parts they took the easy route and declined without calling the Honda representative. I have contacted Honda, we will see what happens. I have filed a report with NHTSA in regards to the safety issue with the brakes that Russ Darrow and the service manager seem apathetic. I won't be back. I wont buy OEM parts if Honda fails to stand behind them. read more

I really liked the salesman, he was great. I wasn't so impressed with the financing department. They screwed up my payments. I signed up for a supposedly free auto-pay company and they entered the wrong amounts. Luckily I logged into the actual loan account a month into my payments and saw that I was $25 behind on payments & had accrued a late fee. I called the payment company and it seems that Russ Darrow entered the wrong amount on the paperwork. Also, this service wasn't free. It costs $5 per month. I cancelled the service & set up my own auto-pay through the financing company which is actually free. Also, every time I come in here for my regular service/maintenance they try to sell me extra services. I understand that's their job, but when someone says "No thank you" you don't have to act like they're total morons for not paying $150 for a total inspection when the car is basically still brand new. I mean if the car is falling apart three months after I bought it brand new I'm going to have serious issues with Honda and will deal with them directly. I have the oil and filters changed and tires rotated on schedule and follow the routine maintenance that is recommended by Honda. Stop treating me like I'm a total idiot just because you want to make more money off of me, it's incredibly rude. Once my service package expires I will definitely be taking the car elsewhere for service. Overall I am not impressed with this dealership and will not be recommending it to my friends and family. read more

If you want a great, down-to-earth sales associate, talk to Dale Hansen. He is by far, the best car salesman I have ever dealt with. My parents and my sister decided to go through him because of the great experience that he gave me. He will not try to upsell you anything or sell you something you don't want. He was straight-forward and a pleasure to deal with. Rachel was fantastic. She made sure the car was fixed by the end of the day and waited for my husband after closing so he could have the car for Monday. It needed a new starter. I called on a Saturday morning to check the availability of a vehicle that was advertised online and was told that the vehicle was still available. I explained that I would be coming from Chicago to purchase the vehicle and was reassured that the vehicle was on the lot and they even "checked" with the manager to verify. Upon arrival I met with the salesperson and was told that they sold the vehicle last night. Bait and switch? I think so. They offered to sell me a new vehicle but I would not trust them from that point on. I don't believe that they are honest. The tactics they use are the reason why people distrust sales people. We have been very happy with Russ Darrow Honda and recommend them. We bought a Civic from them last year (love the car!). The sales process was respectful, friendly and transparent. We would go back to buy another car from them. Yesterday, I brought the car in for a simple recall fix. It was easy to schedule and the entire service team was extremely friendly and respectful. I opted to stay while they did the work. Their new facility at the Metro Mall is very pleasant (open, bright, clean, modern). I was able to work on my laptop and drink coffee while I waited. The work was completed faster than expected and I left with a smile on my face. Based on that, I would happily return for future repair work. read more

Tried to buy a car from here. I had the mindset that if they had the car I wanted, plus the numbers made sense, I am walking out with the keys. Once I arrive to check out the car, for some reason it has a $7000 added markup. And then additional add ons that are not needed and/or dumb. Why am I being forced to pay about $200 dollars for a cargo tray in the trunk, that I dont even want. Why are wheel locks also an add on? Cars come with wheel locks, and if they dont, I am sure I could find some on my own that are cheaper. Either way I told them I would have entertained their BS add ons and $445 "service fee" if they take off the $7000 mark up. They refused. I walked out. I value my dignity over getting a car I want, not need. Luckily, I found the exact car I wanted that day like how I told them I would, without any pricing surprises. Who ever was hired by your business .Didn't secure the under shield I was miles away heading back to Door County . The under shield was now completely loose banging under my car . I bought the car from your russ darrow appleton location. I was very upset I had to pull over and crawl with my good clothes under the car to tear this shield off . Salesman was rude and unprofessional to me as I was trying to buy a car. Mockingly called me the secretary and shoulder checked me, completely ignoring me as I was the one purchasing the car. Same guy then told us that the car we looked at online, that was listed clear as day on the website for sale, wasn't there and tried to push off some janky bullshit cars onto us. All they had for used cars were "mechanics specials" which means they had had either engine lights galore on or they were leaking from one or more places. This place is not only full of shady crooks but they're rude and condescending as all hell while they do it too. My only regret is that this building is still standing and I cant give this place zero stars. read more
