Not even an extreme storm warning, a bear sighting, noisy neighbours and a smallish site could keep me from giving this campground 5 stars. It's just so beautiful. If you have a picture in your head of millions of bright blue lakes shining from the stone of the great Canadian Shield, carved by glaciers, glazed with sharp green pines, cabins leaning off the edges of the rock, surprising little beaches, well what you are picturing is Rushing River.
Many campsites are on multiple levels of stone. Marc did some magic to get our van and vintage (old) camper to fit into our little site, and then we walked over to the lovely little sandy beach. The swimming area is so fun, we could swim out to a rock and jump off, swim over relatively close to where the rapids start and witness their power.
I've heard there are amazing canoe and cross country ski routes from here, and given that it's only 2hrs from Winnipeg it's the perfect spot to adventure and fall in love with this particularly Canadian kind of wild. read more
