We had such a great time that we returned the following night with four of us just before closing for pizza. Jonathan was our server both times, and he was fantastic--friendly, efficient, attentive, and just plain fun. He even accidentally spilled a glass of Prosecco on me during our first visit (luckily I was wearing black!), but he handled it with humor and professionalism. The fact that we happily came back the very next night says everything about the overall experience. On our second visit, we ordered the 13-inch Canadian NWO pizza (pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms, and mozzarella). As someone from the U.S., I'd never even heard of an "NWO" pizza! It was delicious, although the crust was just a little more done than I prefer. At around $26 CAD, it was a bit pricey, but we'd still order it again. The beer was good, though none of the ones we sampled really wowed us. Honestly, that hardly mattered because the atmosphere was so much fun. We loved both the patio and the indoor/outdoor seating, and the place had a lively, welcoming energy that made us want to stay awhile. We enjoyed it so much that we even bought a T-shirt before leaving. If you're in Kenora, don't miss this place. Great service, good food, a fun vibe, and a perfect place to relax with family or friends. We'd absolutely be back.

We had the nachos (nicely piled with toppings), the poutine (with cheese curds and nice gravy) some burgers (good size) and the chicken special (the best dish of the bunch, grilled with a home made sweet and sour sauce and served on rice - really good). The prices are reasonable, the food arrives without a long wait, and there is a good selection of desserts. Hard to go wrong here, a pretty good place to get some decent food.

Prices are steep, but this is Kenora. I got the locally-made beef pepperettes which was a bargain (and they were GOOD!). Staff are running around and busy like crazy, but my server was always right there when I needed him and I found the service to be good overall. I've been here before and found the food is always just "alright". There is something super weird with their sound system, the volume fluctuates all the time and it sounds just awful, quality-wise. Overall though, I love the general idea of the place, and it's a decent enough spot to grab a drink. (There is a store attached which sells super cute but overpriced LOW Brewing merch). So even tho I think this place is just ok, this is Kenora, and options are limited. So I'll be going back :)

They know boats and how important boats are to their customers. Best example: Last fall my buddies and I are fishing Lake of the Woods from an island about one hour by boat from Kenora. My buddies had a problem with their year old Mercury 250 on their Ranger boat. I followed them to town and we were expecting to cancel the second half of our trip due to the engine problems. We put the boat on a trailer, took it to Wharf Power Sports and they promised to look at it within a couple of hours. Two hours passed and we stopped back in and they not only identified the problem but switched out the problem part (fuel pump delivery system) and tested their work. We were back on the water within three hours!!! They store the boat during the off-season so they said that they would handle all warrantee issues. Sweet. A couple of months ago I had a problem with my trailer. They checked it out, made a couple of calls and I ended up at R and T Tire in Kenora. They had all the welding equipment and skills to get me on the road that same day. Wharf Power Sports has proven themselves to us multiple times over many years. They are our "go to" marina in Kenora.

We dropped our boat motor off the first week of June. It was an old piece of junk, so we offered them $100 just to take a look and let us know if it was fixable or not. They said that wouldn't be a problem. After not hearing from them for over a week, and wanting to actually use our boat, we called. They said, to our amazement, it was only the bottom end that had seized and they would fix it--they just had to find the right parts. They would let us know. Another couple weeks passed. We left two phone messages that were not returned. We stopped in on a Friday and the mechanic told us the parts he needed had just arrived that morning, and it would cost us less than $300 to fix. We told him that was great, because if it hadn't been fixable we were ready to buy a new motor--we'd started shopping for one that morning. He told us not to worry, it would be ready Monday or Tuesday. We didn't hear from them, so I called again on Wednesday afternoon. The receptionist told me bluntly that no, it wasn't ready. When I asked when it might be ready, she told me she didn't know. I pressed her to find out, pointing out that the summer was fast disappearing and it would be nice to be able to use our boat. She told me she wouldn't be able to find out when it was ready, I'd just have to wait for them to call. Over the course of the next 5 weeks we stopped in and called several time. Three more times we were informed that "the part we needed just arrived today". We could believe in a coincidence where we happened to stop in and the part happened to have arrived that morning the first time. Even the second. Four times? It wasn't difficult to see they were lying to our faces. We were clearly not a priority. Further, when we told them it had been there for 8 weeks, and to simply tell us if we needed to go buy a new motor, the mechanic acted astounded, as though he couldn't believe it had been there for that long. What kind of business is Wharf running if they don't have some idea of how long a work order has been on their desk? We finally picked it up from them 3 weeks into August. The bottom end was in pieces; they said "something must be warped, because we can't seem to get it back together." Well, it wasn't warped when we brought it in to them 11 weeks ago. We had told them right from the beginning to tell us if it wasn't fixable--we'd have bought a new motor. Instead we spent the entire summer with our boat on dry land because they strung us along with "the part just arrived today" and "it'll be done next week." On top of that, during the 11 weeks they had it we were told several times they would call us with an update, and we left at least half a dozen phone messages requesting they call us back. In 11 weeks not a single time did anyone at Wharf actually pick up a phone and call us. We had to chase them down every time we wanted an update. I work for a small business. My boss would die if we ever treated a single one of our clients--big or small--in such a way.

If you have a picture in your head of millions of bright blue lakes shining from the stone of the great Canadian Shield, carved by glaciers, glazed with sharp green pines, cabins leaning off the edges of the rock, surprising little beaches, well what you are picturing is Rushing River. Many campsites are on multiple levels of stone. Marc did some magic to get our van and vintage (old) camper to fit into our little site, and then we walked over to the lovely little sandy beach. The swimming area is so fun, we could swim out to a rock and jump off, swim over relatively close to where the rapids start and witness their power. I've heard there are amazing canoe and cross country ski routes from here, and given that it's only 2hrs from Winnipeg it's the perfect spot to adventure and fall in love with this particularly Canadian kind of wild.

Awesome looking Muskie makes a great family picture. The park that surrounds is beautiful with it's wonderful natural gardens, trees, old tug boat, washroom facilities and free parking. Located right on the shores of Lake of the Woods. A must stop in Kenora.
