Especially for…read moremetro area that has highspeed fiber options, no limits, weather impacts, etc. We tried HughesNet for 12 months and after multiple calls to their customer support, they ran remote diagnostics with maximum 3 devices which worked. Not when kids home, IP cam, and WiFi thermostat connected. The 2nd call they said it was the weather. Found out small roof dish is affected by even slight rain/snow causing long latencies, dropped connections, etc. Even Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and security cams wouldn't stay connected. A real waste of money and many hours on multiple customer service calls. After canceling, l had less than 45 days to climb on roof (with 3 feet of snow & ice) to get their radio transmitter from dish (they installed) otherwise more equipment fees. Argh. DO NOT use HughesNet - especially when so many better options exist in the metro areas.

charging me an extra 10 dollars a month for an extender, I signed up for 3 mgs of service at 34.95…read morea month no problems then the call me right before Christmas and say I need an extender to get 3 mgs, I was doing fine till other people in the area signed up, that's when they decided if I wanted to keep my 3mgs service I would have to pay 10 dollar a month for an extender , if not my service would not be very good. they did give me 6months of an extra service to make up for the money I was charged and not getting the service of, The rep I have been in contact with over a 8month period is not very professional and not very nice, her name is carrie, I know her last name but will not post it , this is my experience and my opinion
