My friend group and I went here recently for a friend's birthday. The first thing I noticed was that parking is tight, so just be aware of that. The site itself is quite nice and very large. Apparently renovations were done recently so it has an updated feel to it. When you walk in you sign up to race at the counter area, and you also take your picture and pick a racing name. The majority of our group was guys, with the exception of three ladies. Us ladies didn't race and instead ended up getting drinks from the bar, playing a few of the arcade games, and cheering on our guy friends who raced. The bar area has a pretty good selection of drinks and food, and for it being an "amusement" type center, I'd say the quality was pretty decent! There were a solid amount of things you could do besides the racing. They had axe throwing, a rock climbing wall, arcade games, and an interactive game arena. The racing did look fun and our friends had a good time doing it. Those karts go up to around 40mph so they're no joke. I do feel like they do a good job with their safety measures. They give you solid racing helmets, and if you spin out they'll make sure to help safely get you straightened back out. They'll also enforce some set track rules to make sure you're racing safely. My two friends and I watched our other friends race from a large viewing platform near the top of the track. The only negative thing I'd say about our experience is that it's loud (I'm sensitive to high pitched squealing sounds, so I shoved some bits of napkin in my ears and that helped lol), heavily smells of gas (they do have ventilation in place but it's still very noticeable), and it's also pretty hot in there. The area with the arcade, bar, and other entertainment is separate from the racing track, which is good because you can get some relief in between races in there. Overall, it was a fun experience! We all had a good time and would go back again. This time I'd bring ear plugs lol. read more

My son and I had fun we paid for 6 total races (3 each) but after two the exhaust fumes were getting to both of us. I asked an employee how do they deal with it because we stopped racing after our second time and went inside. The place needs to update the video games or make sure they are working with we didn't see anything to play some of the non-arcade games. read more

I was in town for a company meeting and as a team building activity we chose to go to a road House for go carting! It was a great experience as it offered a range of activities from ax throwing to ping pong to other video games. For the racing it was a legit course. The staff took great care to ensure everyone was enjoying themselves right down to making sure we had enough food and drink. I had such a great time at Rush Hour! We rented out the facility for a private event and had the place to ourselves for the evening. After 3 rounds of go-karting, we played arcade games and ate some food. We have the tex mex catering and the chicken was very good. We've only been here twice and each time was for my middle son's bday. He invites a few of his friends and they hang out for hours. They really enjoy themselves and now that they are older they're able to race with the adults, which means complete competition! The prices are a little high, but I found out it's cheaper to buy a membership and get the races at a membership rate. $20 for an 8 minute race which goes kinda quick, so if you don't want to keep paying $20 to race each time, you can buy the membership for $20 ( good for a year) and get the races discounted. Also M-F, 12-5pm is kind of like a happy hour. If you're a member the races are only $11 and if you purchase 3, you get the 4th free. Which is what I did bc I had 4 teenagers. The boys really enjoyed themselves. They always do a briefing before racing, which is good. Then you have a little break in between your races. The boys raced for about an hour, including the breaks in between, but overall they really had an awesome time! SN: if you're into the newest craze of Axe Throwing, they recently added this. My sons had a terrible experience at this facility. The workers did not check that their seatbelt was buckled. After the race started my 11 year old crashed and they said his seatbelt was not buckled THEY DID NOT CHECK. My 11 year old crashed a second time and the workers just turned him around. After that crash my 11 year old crash's a third time. And his helmet flew off. My son came out crying because of the trauma. But then they asked him to go rock climbing right after my son crashed. Then my 13 year old came out and he said that he did not have a good time. The workers were clearly not traind and I will never go there again. read more

We had limited time and they were sparsely populated on a Saturday afternoon. We were rookies to the track and they walk you through proper procedure and safety. Stuff like no bumping and ramming other drivers. Common sense stuff. Someone else mentioned the racy decor in the bathrooms, but it was not porn and just sort of campy. The staff was okay, nice, mostly kids so you get what their wages pay for. No bad experience really. So the cool thing is the cars are fast. Some dude was telling us you might hurt your back, but I never felt in any discomfort. The cars were really cool and they give you a solid helmet and neck brace so you're protected. You do a hell of alot of skidding/drifting with these cars and you have to anticipate the corners. Not sure if I'd always pay $22 a ride, but the membership is designed to get you in there more for less costly rides. Worth it a first time and if I lived close would probably spend the membership money. Yes, there are lots of video/arcade games there, which we ignored. Racing was the reason for going. read more

I don't recommend this place at all. The wait for the race is too long. You cannot use the racing name you want. When you race if your in a bad mood and good luck finishing your race. I was trying to let off some steam while I was in a bad mood. As I was going into some of the sides. I did that four times. They had a slow down sign and I slowed down. Then I went fast again. They pulled me over. When I went into the side for the 4th time. That I asking me if I was okay. I told them I was okay. They had no desire to let me finish the race. That's ridiculous. Also people should be allowed to finish eating there food before racing. And somebody told me to redo my neck harness. I did and they unbuckled it. They need to fix they racing policies they are ridiculous Management does not care about changing the policies. It's one thing if somebody is physically injured. Then stop the race not if somebody says they are physically fine. If they are physically fine let them finish. REDICULOUS! It's supposed to be a place of fun. read more

I feel the need... The need for speed! Ok, all Top Gun quotes aside, Rush Hour Karting delivers on its name. Jump into one of their hopped up go-karts, hit the gas and you're off! Flying around the track, weaving your way in and out of stacks of tires is definitely a rush. The small steering wheel shudders in your hands as you run around tight hairpins, the whole kart sliding sideways as the tires break loose. Pull up behind an unsuspecting driver and try to get by if you can. It's Nascar light and a lot of fun! After it's all done you can get your laptimes, mentally hoist a victory cup and chug a bottle of milk. Or maybe not, in my case. Racing is a lot harder than it looks and it stinks to watch a faster driver blow by you! Rush Hour Karting has a pretty big bar, Cinelli's restaurant and some arcade games if racing ain't your thang! This place was a blast! 6 of us went around 1pm on a Sunday(w/out reservation) and we had to wait about an hour to race. We sat in there full restaurant and had some apps and non-alcoholic beverages. Yes kids it's true, adults really like to have fun flying around an indoor track competitively racing in mini cars. It's a friggin' hoot and a ton 'o fun. The boss lady and I came here with my brother-in-law (BIL) who had a Groupon he needed to use up. As soon as he mentioned the idea of going go-carting, my ears perked up and thoughts of doing my best formula one racer impression flew into my little brain. I was excited and started hopping around like a wee little boy. For those (like us) who had never visited Rush Hour Karting, the outside is well decorated with checkered flags; helpful if you're using a GPS that ended its navigation a few blocks away. The flags definitely helped and we soon parked the car and rushed inside for some go-cart action. It was around 5pm on a Saturday night and the place was already full of people racing and other waiting for their turn to race. The indoor of Rush Hour probably looks like a Nascar fan's wet dream with pictures of Nascar racers, people whom I would recognize if they were standing right next to me. Anyway... We checked in, got our names in the 'pooter and were given a clean little head sock to keep all the helmet funk away from our hair. The person working the counter then told us to wait for our name to be called and then to report to the orientation room. As we waited, we saw signs about not being able to drive if you drank or used a controlled substance. This was an issue for us (we were all sober as judges), but found it interesting that they had a HUGE bar area behind the check in counter. As we sat and waited for our names to be called, a (wait) staff member stopped by and asked us if we wanted to order drinks. "Ummm...no thanks" we all said, mentioning the signs all around us about "no drinking and driving". Wha-wha-whaaaat? Our names were finally called and we were given quick orientation, fitted with helmets (mine being XXL for my extra large noggin) and neck braces. We were assigned specific carts and soon we were flying around the track. If you decide to hang out/wait in the seats next to the track be prepared to inhale a lot of exhaust. We didn't realize it but we must've sucked down a lot of exhaust from the go-carts as our clothes were saturated with a strong exhaust smell. I saw some giant exhaust/vent fans at the far end of the track but noticed that they were off. Maybe if these mammoth fan were running the place wouldn't be so smokey. Our 12 year old greatly enjoys her time here to go fast around the track when there are not younger less experienced drivers on the track. It is unfortunately NC does allow younger drivers to participate in adult races if they meet a minimum height and weight requirement. My daughter can not advance to adult races until she is 15 years old even though she already looks like an adult (I've been asked what college she goes to) and she drives better than most adults. These are gas powered cars, so they don't react the same as electric and the staff cannot control drivers who are disobeying the rules of the track. The advantage of this track is it has a tavern with local craft beers for $4/pint. We recently tried the food and it was good - especially after a beer or two. Definitely a fun time. read more

Every time the Rush Hour Karting experience starts out the same, fighting to get "registered" at the online kiosk or the kiosk in the place ruins the whole experience. By the time anyone's actually driving a cart it's not even entertaining because just getting to the point to do it is a nightmare and the staff is no help. And just don't even try to do it on line. Someone hired a mobile app and web developer who was either dirt cheap or overpaid to build that "Apex Timing" piece of garbage. I hope someone says "like you could do better" because yes, I could. Staff is irresponsible for what is going on on the track. I was slammed in to by another driver in a turn. She was not warned about her driving or removed from the track. I'm guessing it's because her boyfriend worked there. Several times as I passed the starting point the staff had their back turned to the track not watching what was going on. 2 staff members were going to throw a football across the track when another staff member stopped them. - I did not eat at the restaurant - This is a kart racing review only - I recently became an avid rental kart racer, so when I was making a weekend trip to Raleigh I found out about Rush Hour. Searching the company website I learned about the membership pricing opportunities. I definitely took advantage of it as I live three hours away, so it made the most financial (cents) sense. Two races, a membership, Free birthday month race, head sock, t-shirt and weekly member pricing all for a fantastic price - which is not a deal that can be found at the Charlotte area tracks. This trip took place in September, so I was able to use my birthday month free race on top the two that came with the membership. It made for a fun Saturday afternoon! I brought my own helmet, but included in the price is a head sock and the use of their helmets and neck braces. The track workers explain the track rules in the meeting room and then assist you in finding the right safety gear. They were helpful and friendly - quite a surprise. I was familiar with the Sodi karts as they are the most commonly used arrive-and-drive machinery. The track is a challenging and fun design. I just wish they would open up the speed limiters on the karts - it would make for even more fun racing! They have arcade games available to continue pegging the fun-meter. They also have a restaurant connected to the track, but did not partake in stuffing my face. Definitely would stop by again if I am in the area. read more

I was disappointed this weekend with Rush Hour Karting in Raleigh. We have been there a few times during the pandemic and usually all customers and staff are wearing masks. However on Sunday, hardly anyone was wearing a mask. Mostly customers. I asked one of the staff about mask rules and she said they aren't allowed to enforce any mask wearing by customers and if the staff are behind the plexiglass they aren't required to wear a mask. Heike and I were looking for a place to have some fun and we stumbled onto Rush Hour Karting through Yelp. It seemed like an interesting place and this was on Easter Sunday so we really weren't sure they'd be open. I called and found out they'd be open at noon. We went in for the first time and was greeted pleasantly by the receptionist and a gentleman, both were at the counter. They asked if we had been there before and discussed our racing options after finding out we were newbies. We opted to become members, which netted us t-shirts, a cool membership card for reduced prices and specials throughout the week, along with two 8 minute races, which we took advantage of same day. Oh, less I forget about the helmet stocking that came with the membership as well--sweet. We attended a class on-site that discussed the racing rules and procedures. After the class we got fitted for helmets and shown the locker area. Shortly afterwards we were in cars ready for the track. I forgot how much fun it was to fly like a bat outta hell without concern about turning over or having an accident you most likely wouldn't recover from if you were doing it right. It was so much fun and there's food and probably drinks at the place. It's a nice place to get road rage outta your system. I'd recommend a visit; car 13 is the one you want, 14 isn't bad either, although the steering is a little tight. So go check it out and tell them Darrell and Heike sent you. read more

I had a great time racing carts! They're pretty quick--top speed probably 35-40 mph--which doesn't sound very fast, but the track has several hairpin curves, which makes it seem very fast. The track is laid out very well and is fairly slick concrete, but the cart tires are super sticky, so you really have to hit a curve very quickly to slide. I went with a group of 10 and we all raced against each other. I imagine the carts have sensors on them, because you get ranked by lap speed and time in a full print out as well as stats on a big screen in real time. They have ax throwing and video games, along with a full bar with at least one pool table. I highly recommend this place. read more

I put together an event here and the owner worked with me to get the food just right but when we showed up had allowed other patrons in, in contravention of our deal. Very fun experience, but I would never pay their regular $20 for ONE 8 minute race. My boyfriend and I came here because we bought a groupon deal, so it was definitely cheaper ($15 for 2 8-minute races). The experience itself was pretty fun and exhilarating. At the end of the experience, you get a print-out of your timings - which was really great because we got to see how much we improved from the first race to the second race. The atmosphere is okay, until you get to the bathrooms. I'm not sure why, but the men's bathroom is littered with pictures of undressed/half-dressed women - even in the stalls. The women's bathroom is also littered with pictures of women, which is odd. This was a huge turn off for me, because we came to go karting, not to sit in creepy bathroom stalls whenever we needed to pee. Serious suggestion to the owner: take down the porn pics in the bathroom! I'm sure business will still be good - even without the random softcore porn pics (which all have nothing to do with go-karting). Plus, it's just downright offensive and makes the entire business appear to be catering to grown men. Bear in mind: this is supposed to be a 'family friendly' establishment. Children have their birthday parties here. It's very very odd. The food is cheap and greasy but they'll do the trick. $8 for 10 wings. Don't expect your wings to be oven baked or your fries to be of sweet potato. This is fatty cheap food - probably to supplement the crappy cheap vibe they have going on. The service is also poor. The owner was a bit rude, and the woman who helped us was also pretty rude. I'm really big on spending my money where I feel my business is appreciated, and I did not feel that way about this place at all. We weren't going to get to ride for an hour, and the woman was really pushy about getting us to stay in the venue for the entire waiting period "just in case" we get called early. Looks like it's a business strategy, because the lobby area has a lot of games (most 50 cents per game). Quick/easy way for them to make $$ while we're waiting. read more

I've been wanting to visit this place for a long time...I've heard such great things. My brother and his friends have been here several times telling me about all of the great experiences they have had here. Sadly, I did not have that experience. There was a group of us going on a Saturday night. We checked in and were told there would be a two hour wait, so we hung around at the restaurant to grab a bite to eat. The food was delish!! Service was slow though, but the food was good. I'd get those Mac and Cheese Bites again!! We made our way back near the race entrance. We waited for a while and hadn't heard our names. We asked the girl at the front counter, and she said it'd be at least another 45 minutes before we'd be able to race. Umm...ok. Thanks for letting us know. We finally got to race, only for my fiance to get kicked out of his car a few laps into our second race and put in a different car so that the owner could race. After the race was over, the owner starts yelling and cursing at several people in my party. Mind you, this is a family environment where there are signs that state not to yell and curse. He caused a big scene and we ended up leaving. We had races that we had paid for that we hadn't raced yet...and we just left. I don't know that I'll ever be back. And I will tell people not to go. Not only was there poor customer service, but the owner doesn't know how to run a business. I would never yell (and definitely never curse - but sometimes I know I wish I could) at a customer. Learn how to run a business, teach your employees good service skills, and maybe I'll contemplate a return visit. read more

There weren't any banana peels, turtle shells, or mushrooms on the course, but it was still a lot of fun. Rush Hour Karting is located in a far, far away land in Garner (southeast of Raleigh). It's actually almost right off 40, so the ride there isn't that long. The ride back is even shorter when you've been conditioned to speed! I went with a group of 4, and we did two 8 minute races. After the first 8 minute race, I was already tired! They gave us a little break, but I could have used more time to recover. The go-karts themselves are gas-powered and go up to 35-40mph; that is a lot faster than those go-karts at Adventure Landing or Frankie's! If you don't own a helmet, you have to buy a head sock ($2), and they have an assortment of helmets for all head sizes. Younger kids have to ride different go-karts that don't go as fast. You have to sign a waiver when you go in, but don't worry--it's pretty easy to get the hang of go-karting. The most dangerous part is when you are passing other drivers or they are passing you. There isn't a lot of room to pass, so it's very tricky and I had to hit the brakes a few times. After our 2nd race, we were all pretty happy with our experience. Our times were much faster the 2nd go around, despite being tired. You get a printout after each race with all of your lap times. It is definitely more fun when you have know everyone you're racing with.... unfortunately, we had to race with a couple of Rush Hour regulars on our 2nd race. They were some younger kids that had nearly mastered the course. I noticed Hector's, a small restaurant near the track, but no one was in there. I was craving wings and wanted to watch football, so we went to Buffalo Wild Wings instead (a short drive away!). Finally, I have to agree with Sara H's review.
