We were desperate to get our AC fixed so we called Akins because they were open on Sunday. The dispatcher told us that it would be a couple of hours. When there was a delay, she called us back to let us know. The technician arrived a little after 8:00pm and worked on our unit for a couple hours. The price was almost $300 cheaper than the competitors'. They offered an alternative to the R22 that is better for the environment and much cheaper. They were honest and helpful. Initially, I was just 'pleased' with the service that his team provided. The guys were all very courteous, respectful, and cleaned up after themselves. Well, I'm no longer just pleased, I'm ECSTATIC with the service that this company provides! A year after I had the minisplits installed, I tried to use the heating function that was in the seldom used unit. The unit was only blowing cool air, and I was worried about getting hassled by the company for not bringing the issue up sooner. Larry completely understood (or didn't care since he was going to make it right anyway) that I just never ended up using the unit that winter, so I couldn't have known about the issue. Larry sent the techs out, they found that it was out of refrigerant, fixed the issue and everything was up and running again. Until... Someone in the house must've bumped into the unit and caused another leak of refrigerant. We didn't find out until almost two months later. No worries, Larry sends his guys out, they isolate the problem, and got me back up and running. I was just happy with the communication and that my problem was fixed, but then found out that Larry wasn't even charging me for ANY of these additional visits a year after install! I've been in the industry for over a decade now worked for countless companies where I would have to go in and do warranty work for months on calls that nobody could figure out that people sold knowing that nobody at the company probably could figure this out. So you can only imagine how infuriated these customers must have been. Chose them based on them being family owned, and Christian based. Was guaranteed it would heat and cool but floors of our home (we have 2 window units in the upper rooms) and was told the price included replacing the old 6" flue (not compatible with new unit and could cause damage to the unit) for a 4" flue per manufacture parameters. They came to our home over 8 or 9 times after installation due to the unit not working correctly and condensation issues in our attic. First, they cut their cost by tapering the 6" flue down to the fit the 4" connection on the new unit. During this process the flue became disconnected, our last inspection of the heating unit shows extensive rust on the heat exchanger, the unit is 4 years old. They installed and programed the thermostats incorrectly, causing the units to run longer than needed and leaving damage to our wall when moving the thermostat. Long story short, I have extensive damage to our home, including mold and mildew growth, electrical damage, water damage throughout several areas of our home and they are refusing to right their wrong. Before we knew how dishonest and incompetent this company was, we also had a water heater installed, which they knocked out an area of drywall (approx 4X5') and never repaired it. They are not family owned; they have been bought out by a company in Texas.
