So my 2nd review of Rupp's starts out pretty much the same as the first: "I went over to the Guitar Center by my house..." to test drive some double bass pedals. I've had the same DW 5000 single chain drive double pedal for literally 30 years, and figured it was time for an upgrade. GC only had like 2 or 3 crappy single pedals out on their display area to try out, and the drum area was devoid of any staff - literally empty, and I couldn't flag anyone down to help me. Out the door I walked, predictably frustrated by the entire Guitar Center experience. Today was a new day, and Rupp's was the destination. I walked in shortly after opening, Alex greeted me, and we immediately got down to the business of talking the pros and cons of different kick pedals. Display models were taken off the shelf for me to try out, longboards were discussed, the ups & downs of Tama vs. DW, and then the ups & downs of the 5000 vs. 9000 series. No BS, no salesmanship, just straight up answering questions and making honest suggestions. "Oh, your kick BPM is stalled out? Are you still using the stock DW beaters? Those things are way too heavy to play fast... have you tried these variable weighted beaters?" Mind blown. After zoning in on an updated set of DW 5000s, he offered to set them up on the practice kit to get a feel for them on an actual kick drum. He set 'em up, walked out, and closed the door to give me ample time to get a feel for the action on my own time, at my own pace. Sold! ...and I wasn't planning on actually buying anything today, but the entire Rupp's experience made my mind up for me. I just got done working through some double kick exercises with my new pedal and beaters, and I feel like I've been in the dark ages playing with stone tools for the last few decades. I have been a loyal customer of Rupps Drums for approx. 25 years until today. Here is my experience: Yesterday I visited Rupp's to price and test various Sabian Prototype cymbals and was assisted by a very nice and helpful young lady "Ad********" . She evaluated my trade in cymbals and priced them. I chose the cymbal that I want to trade for. A written deal was given me to me so that we could identify exactly what was specified in the transaction. Today, I contacted Rupp's and was told to bring in the cymbals for trade and all the documentation was available as per the sales lady from yesterday. I gathered up the cymbals that I wanted to trade and brought them to the store. When I arrived at the store, I identified myself and was recognized by an individual that claimed to be the new sales manager. Upon confirming the information, he refused to honor the price that was given to me for the exact same cymbal trade that was provided to me the day before. Even though it was documented, It was not honored. This is the full story. This new sales manager was on his first day. This will be the very last time that I will visit or do business with Rupp's Drums after 25 years as a loyal customer. You can not trust the word of their staff to follow through with the offers that they provide for the merchandise agreed upon. This is legally a breach of contract. Buyer beware !!!!!!! I brought the Cymbals to Denver Percussion. They honored the values and treated me like gold. What a great bunch of people. Goodbye Rupp's. Denver Percussion is where I will shop locally. read more

Just a killer drum shop. I live in the springs and saw a drum on reverb that I wanted. Turns out it was a short drive away, so I figured I'd head down. I called first to make sure they still had it and Evan was super helpful. He even tracked down some parts for a drum I had been meaning to fix. Got to the shop, was greeted warmly, and was pretty blown away by the inventory. I hadn't been in a drum shop in a pretty long time, and it was a welcome change from the usual GC I had subjected myself to. I had a drum that I'd been meaning to offload, and they gave me a fair price towards the one I wanted. Picked up a couple other things while I was there, all parts of the transaction were smooth. Be prepared for prices to be slightly higher than what you'd see in GC or on Amazon, but it's a small price to pay to keep such a quality shop, with knowledgeable/polite staff ALIVE. Thanks, Evan. TL/DR - Rupp's Drums is an absolutely fantastic drum shop with killer customer service. Can't say enough about how great it was to work with Alex and the staff at Rupp's Drums on the purchase of a new drum kit. I was looking for some pretty specific sizes, nothing too crazy mind you, but sizes which are generally not available to purchase in a standard shell pack configuration. Originally I tried an online big-box store and got nowhere. They were not able to get me the sizes I was looking for and basically told me what I see is online is what I can get. Knowing the good reputation Rupp's has with the drum companies, I knew they could help. Alex made a few phone calls to his Gretsch rep and gave me several options to get the exact kit I wanted - and in a killer finish that was not available online. It took only 5 days for my kit to arrive and the staff at Rupp's pitched in to help me get it out of the shipping boxes and assembled. As well as taking the time to help me put new heads on the entire kit, get it tuned up, and sounding amazing. If you're a working drummer, seasoned pro, or just a beginner, Rupp's is going to be able to take care of you better than anyone in the area. Their prices are appropriately priced, their staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and they'll always work to make sure you're a happy customer. 10 out of 10 would recommend. read more

This store is like a big treasure chest full of drum equipment. It seems disorganized because they have so much stuff, but everything has it's own place and can be found quickly with some help from the friendly guys working! Got a pair of Vic Firth 5A sticks for around $10 and a used Remo individual pad for $25. Judging from these two items, I want to say a lot of the items are overpriced; however, it is quicker to pick them up here than to wait for Amazon to ship you these items. So, in a way, I guess you're paying for convenience and accessibility? On top of this place being a treasure chest, the staff is very knowledgable and helpful here! 8) read more

2020 - Rupp's Drums was pretty cool to visit. They have some sick vintage drums. They have some sick new drums. Lots of sticks. What you would expect from a drum-only spot. But bascially the people there are the reason this place is dope. The employees, being there during the pandemic and all, were very generous with the use of their store. We stayed masked and I chose to wipe down what I used. Beyond that they let me sit in there for mad long in an in-store iso booth testing snare drums with my favorite types of sticks. If you're a drummer in the metro area you probably have been to Rupps or at least heard of it. Along with Colorado drum up in Ft. Collins it is really the only pro drum shop in Colorado. Sorry Guitar center, but you don't really count. The space is pretty small(especially for drums) but they've managed to pack as much gear in there as possible, so the variety of stuff offered is top notch. I bought my first real kit there(I don't want to remember the cb shit I got from the pawn shop!) and plan to buy my next one here. The staff is helpful and courteous, and they don't have that egotistical attitude that some musicians in these type of shops give you. If you've spent any time in music shops you know what I'm talking about! I don't know who owns this place now, but it used to be Bob Rupp's place. I guess the Rupp name was so well known by drummers all over they decided to keep it after he sold it. But I haven't noticed much of difference since its been sold so that's a plus. read more

Not being a Colorado resident, I finally had the opportunity to stop by Rupps, a drum only store. I was happily treated to their friendly and helpful staff. Inside the store was a treasure of drumming kits and gear. I drooled over a set of timpani (never seen that in any music shop). Their staff advised that they are available with their online chat to provide any assistance with purchases. I hope to return again and possibly attend one of the many pro clinics held in the store. What a treasure of a local business! The staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about drumming and made me feel welcome every time I've come in, answered a variety of questions, and have just been all-around super cool.
