We decided to try this place out and ordered four sandwiches. Unfortunately, they brought out only three and then argued with us when we asked about the missing fourth. The cook was quite rude to her staff during the interaction, which was disappointing. I had pulled a short blonde hair from my runza which isn't pleasant. On the plus side, the vanilla ice cream for $1 was actually quite good, although they had just run out of chocolate. I love going later at night when the lights are still on ordering a Double, and only getting a single and three other burgers and none of the fries seasoned like I asked. Why do I even cash tip? PROS: This is a Nebraska-only (with like four exceptions) establishment, so of course while driving through the state you have to try and taste the local flavor! The staff all wore masks and used things to deliver items like straws and cup lids. The staff were very friendly. It seemed like a busy location with lots of seated patrons and folks going through the drive through. I ordered the cheese Runza sandwich. If I were still in college, and had a late night, this is precisely what the doctor would have ordered. CONS: This location wasn't particularly clean, even by non-COVID standards. The front door was just covered in greasy fingerprints. None of the patrons were wearing masks, even when walking in. Since I am no longer in college, and I came in the late afternoon, the cheese Runza wasn't quite what I had hoped for. It's heavy and the bread got soggy pretty quickly. I don't like leaving this review but I have to because I paid for this food . I'm from New Jersey and although the pictures look good one northerner to another northerner if your passing through, keep passing, stop for gas, then jump back in your car. This taste like baby food to me, something my 5 year old would make and i'd eat it in front of them to be nice. Then trash it when they leave mmmmmmmm not good . I am giving it a 3 because I know how Runza should be and normally love the place, it would be a 2 for service. The restaurants in Cozad are not know for fast service , and this one is the same. Everyone seems to take their sweet time. These places really need to take in consideration that not everyone has the time that they may have. Think of the customers maybe they are on a time restraint and think a fast food joint would be the quickest, not the case here. The food is typical Runza which I do enjoy, getting a Runza or the mushroom Swiss burger is the way I go. Love the fries when they are hot and the onion rings are ok. Always check your bags if you get it to go as a number of times the food will be wrong, usually forgetting to put something in the bag. read more

I have worked at a Runza before so I know the quality of food this place has. Runza tries to make stuff in house which I really like so if I have to pick a place to eat in town I like to go to Runza. That being said, I do not like this location. Every time we go there we have to go back in and have them fix something. Normally my husband will get a cheeseburger plain with fries and it still gets messed up. My friend will get a cheeseburger no onion, he has not been there once where they actually left the onion off. I understand things get busy but this is every time so it gets frustrating. The staff has been mostly friendly and normally I LOVE Runza, this one just doesn't make the mark which stinks because it's in town. read more

First off, I love Runza. The Runzas, the burgers, the salads, the chicken strips - You normally can't go wrong with anything you order! BUT my boyfriend and I were travelling across the state and like to stop at the smaller Runzas along the way. We stopped at this smaller Runza and ordered 2 salads, and the chicken portions were tiny! It looked like they only cooked 1 chicken breast and split it between both. VERY DISAPPOINTED since the salads are so expensive! (We stopped at another Runza Sunday and the chicken portions were normal, as with every other time we go.) read more

Runza sucks. The name speaks for itself. Walked in to the restaurant and saw a tumble weed blow across the floor because it was abandoned since the 1830's. They had to raise the prices because they only get 4 customers from Minnesota each day. Really good sandwiches, but strange as it is, their best product is not the runzas (despite they are excellent), but the burgers! Wonderful flavors and consistency. Store is well kept, and inviting. Could use a bit more work on interacting with customers, but service was still acceptable. read more

Waited 5 minutes out front to have no one take my order. After I called the phone number somebody finally came up and said nothing. After I asked to have my order taken they finally said ok. The Runza burger is Nebraskas answer to the WhiteCastle. It's ground beef, cabbage, and onions stuffed inside a homemade roll....the meat mixture made the bread wet and gluey, just like a WhiteCastle. Spicy Jack burger was ok. Fries were good. I hope I don't get the runs from Runza! read more

Gross. We stopped on a road trip. I had heard of this restaurant before, but this was the first time I tried it. I will not be back. Everything was pre-packaged crap and it was disgusting. I thought Burger King had the worst onion rings in the fast food industry, but that award is now Runza's. I don't give horrible reviews very often, but this one was earned. If it came down to stopping at Runza or driving 100 miles to get to another restaurant, I'll drive the 100 miles to find something better. read more
