A group of six to eight of us occasionally meet for breakfast at the Runway Cafe. We always have an enjoyable time. The service is friendly and efficient. There is also outside seating available. The cafe is clean and nicely decorated with an aviation theme. The food is always tasty and served hot Each table is supplied with a few flavors of housemade jam. Quite the treat! read more

Have been going to the Runway off and on for over 4 yrs with our group of 6-9. The food has been going downhill throughout those 4 yrs. Three weeks ago had the driest omelet ever. For 3 months last year they never had any ham for two of our party who liked ham slices. They've updated their decor and still serve homemade jam that's wonderful but the food has been mediocre at best for last 4 yrs. We've moved onto better places. read more

HORRIBLE Experience! Went for lunch sat outside the airport and the whole ambiance is amazing but the worst service I've ever experienced. The the chicken sandwich was disgusting! Chicken wasn't cooked slimy in the middle one bite and almost made me vomit. My girlfriend got the same thing. Same results under cooked chicken! This is how you kill people! No excuse. Although way off the beaten path you can have a great breakfast or lunch here with a unique form of entertainment! Location- These folks are in the Flight Operations Building of the tiny Sebring Airport. No there are not convoluted roads, massive traffic jams and giant parking garages. You can drive right up to it and park for free. Just follow the airport signs. Atmosphere- A bright and airy space with lots of aviation pictures. Outside seating where you can watch planes taking off and landing. Some can be very close. Kid Alert!- What child doesn't like to watch planes up close and personal. As a potential bonus, the famous Sebring Racetrack is right next door. When I was there I could see cars racing from the restaurant parking lot! Of course, there is a kids menu. Adult Libations- A small selection of both beers and wines. I enjoyed an ice-cold Stella. Food- We're talking casual American Café food, hence the name. Lots of sandwiches and burgers and salads along with fries, slaw etc. I went with a BBQ Pork Platter with the traditional fries and slaw. If desired, I could have substituted several other sides. It went for about ten bucks. It was out quickly, very good and the portion size was just fine. The pork was pre-sauced which was no surprise, tender and just slightly sweet. The Cole Slaw was crisp and not soupy and also just slightly sweet. The fries were hot and crispy. Overall it was a fine lunch and just like a kid, I watched the planes! So if you are in the Sebring area on a beautiful Florida day, you could do something a little unique and fill your stomach with great food all at the same time! read more

Great place as we had some time for lunch while working the races at Sebring. Food was good and the service was great. I always love an environment that involves watching planes come and go. We also happened to catch the evidence of a launch of Space X which was a bonus. read more

If I could only give negative stars! The service was so bad we didn't even get to the food. Never before been treated so poorly by a rude bunch of employees in a service industry. If you're having a bad day...leave it at the door. Not only was the waitress rude and belligerent her supervisor at the time was just as bad. As soon as we walked in the negative attention was just dismissive. If these rags are the face of this restaurant I suggest the owner reestablish employee requirements. Being a local and with friends that run and own restaurants we know good help is hard to find... but it's out there. We left the airport cafe and ended up at Azul Tequila. Boy, what a difference in service! Refreshing to know there are others that understand that customers are important for business. Thanks for my first and last visit to this establishment. Stopped in for lunch. Ordered a tuna melt on rye. Excellent! And, for Florida water they serve, that too tasted excellent!!! Bathrooms spotless (albeit, we were one of their first customers for lunch). Staff was just OK - she seemed preoccupied and it showed in her demeanor. But, overall good dining experience. The Runway Cafe is perfectly okay. It has a simple menu the food is fine. The location is probably its best feature with a taxiway location at the Sebring airport and very easy access from the race track. The service is a bit slow, very casual, but always very polite and friendly. We have never had a memorable meal, but everything has always been good and the scenery is a fun change of pace. read more

Babe and I come here whenever we are at the track with SCCA for racing. It's mostly out of convenience because it the closest thing when you don't have a lot of time. One of the first times I came it took about 1.5 hours for just the two of us. After 45 minutes they came to apologize and say our order was not put in and they were going to do it immediately. We cancelled the soup order and just told them to bring out our entrees. We come here because we need something quick, this completely defeated the purpose. Food is good for an afternoon lunch. Nothing fancy. Mistakes happen! When we came last week we had a much better experience. We came both Saturday and Sunday in big groups. Our orders were taken immediately and the food came out fast. Bills were all separated and our waitress was very quick. No time waisted which is what we need when we are at the track. Chicken tenders and French fries with honey mustard are delicious. Babe likes the chicken ceaser salad. I think the chicken is bland, has no seasoning, it's just boiled shredded chicken but babe loves it. To eat his own! The chicken salad sandwich is supposedly delicious and several ppl ordered it. Will get it next time. Decent place for lunch. read more

If you are a pilot looking for a burger or if you just want a perfect place to enjoy a great meal while airplanes takeoff & land in the background then this is THE place! After we found out about the Runway Cafe we have returned several times so we fall into the "repeat offender" category. Breakfast is always very good- very tasty and good portions. Our most recent visit was Saturday evening (they are open Friday & Saturday evenings) and we were pleasantly surprised by their menu. I ordered the lasagna which was not only very good but was also the LARGEST serving of pasta I've ever seen. Almost couldn't eat it- almost! Damn near had to recalculate our weight & balance because we ate so much :) My bride ordered the strip steak which was also good. There are perhaps a dozen tables outside, right next to the ramp where all the planes taxi up & park. Especially this time of year it is perfect to sit outside to enjoy the activity. There were two pilots flying in the aerobatic box located just north of the airport. Where else can you enjoy breakfast while skilled pilots are practicing spins, loops and barrel rolls?!? We were pleased to see both owners there. They visited our table to ensure our meal was tasty and our visit was enjoyable. In this age where so many restaurants rush you in & out and could give a damn whether you have a nice meal or not, we always appreciate a visit from the owner of a restaurant. This place is right on the tarmac/runway for the airport. Easy to get to via plane or car. They're nice folks here.. Good outdoor seating overlooking the airport - good for kids on a weekend to watch the planes coming and going. Food is good and consistent. Not the cheapest in town but it is done nicely. You should not complain about a $9 sandwich when you flew here paying $5 a gallon for avgas, anyhow. read more

Our food, although we very much enjoyed, their delivery had issues. 1) Food came out in stages 3, and I main our main dishes only reason it was 3 an not 4 because there were only three of us 2) Food was delivered twice to the wrong table next to us 3) All food deliveries were given to the wrong person at our table, except the last one. The walls are decorated with many old photos of the military men and machines of WWII who were based at Sebring. The menu is large and diverse. There are daily specials. Our server was friendly and efficient. Seating is comfortable, either inside or out on a covered porch. What a great location. The flight ops building at the Sebring airport. You can sit inside or outside and watch the private aircraft come and go. Ive been there a few times, and everytime, if we dont order the food before we show up it takes them 40 mins to get food out. My friend order a chicken caeser salad and it took 40 mins, i ordered a normal cheese burger it took 40 mins. We had to pay for the food and get it to go after we sat in the dinning area for 40 mins waiting. Also another guy that was there ordered soup and a side salad, got the soup right away, had to box the salad to go because, yet again it took 40 mins to come out. I use to go here a lot. Well no more. I had not been there in a year because of illness. So Last Saturday (4th of July) I felt like getting out. I took a friend and was very disappointed. Our Server had a smile that was something out of a horror show and she dragged her feet as though we were trouble for her. The food was NOT the same as in past. The worse part was the staff. I was use to a Server named Cindy (Friendly and southern). Then I found out the problem. They no longer have the same manager Trish.
