I went to InStyle Salon in JCP at the nearly dead Alton Square Mall as a walk in. I needed a color…read more& razor cut. The color was right on but I walked out in the middle of cut. The stylist was rude & hurtful. After I wiped my tears, I asked her to stop cutting and I was going to leave. I finished my cut at home. I called the manager and met with her in person to have her 100% attention. Noting how much I liked the color, she offered an "on the house" appointment with an amazing stylist. BAM! I walked into my apartment and was treated like a queen and I have been there since and I refer others to "MY Charlie" all of the time. He is phenomenal as a person, stylist, & all-around wizard. I have met the other stylist he shares a room with and everytime I go for a service, it's like I'm going to a party. My adult son (on the Autism Spectrum) sees Kristin & she makes sure that every detail is perfect. Along with Kristin and My Charlie in the "party room" is Andrew & Cameron and the work I see them do is superior. So yes, I recommend these stylish scissor wizards to anyone. As for the one awful stylist I fired in the middle of my service, I won't say her name, I will say her name starts with a "D" & rhyms with Noreen..... there, I didn't say it.... ‍‍‍‍‍with Noreen, but a D

Most salons are actually busy & have to check there schedules to get you in.The girl that was doing my hair(Kristen) was rude and unfriendly. The whole time she was doing my hair she didn't engage in any conversation with me what so ever. I brought in a picture of what I wanted & when she was finished my hair looked like the roots were touched up but that was it. Keep in mind that I asked for THICK blond highlights. Instead I got thin strands of blonde which didn't make my hair look bad but I didn't see much of a difference. She kept saying that's what I asked for, excuse me, I'm telling you that's not what I wanted at least have enough decency to fix your mistake.Then, I came home & my family didn't even notice that I got my hair done. If that's the reaction that I wanted then I would have dyed my hair from a box. I then came back to dispute the price b/c I was displeased & she said the only way she would fix my hair is if I paid double the price. & the reason my hair didn't look like the one in the picture was b/c my roots were grown out.. That's information she should have told me ahead of time. She should have said: hey, your roots are dark so it won't look like the picture & if you want the thick highlights it will cost more money. NOPE, instead she was extremely rude & then refused to fix my hair b/c I came back later that night b/c I was dissatisfied & didn't tell her immediately. Last time I checked I'm the customer & she should have ATLEAST been friendly & offered to re-do my hair. Unfortunately, I had to pay her the full price & I now have to go to a different salon & pay even more money because she couldn't do her job. I highly recommend that you DO NOT go to this place for ANYTHING. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

She charged me $28 because she used scissors for the top instead of clippers. No shampoo or style. Crazy! Just save yourself the disappointment and go to an actual salon or barber.

They were able to do my sister's hair exactly as she wanted, and she was really happy with it. I, however, had no idea what I wanted and just asked them to make me look pretty - and they did!! Posted below is a photo of what I asked for along with photos of what I received. She had a cancellation and got me in quick for which I was grateful. I was there for four hours as she worked coloring some else's hair along side mine. I have never been at a salon that long and I understand the hustle but when it was all said and done I had to schedule someone else to pick up my kids and was late for a meeting. I say all that to say towards the end of my appointment I was distracted making texts and arrangements. When she was done, I needed to go and did so in a hurry. That same day I reached out to her to let her know I was disappointed with the outcome. She told me to come back in she would fix it. We schedule a day and time. The night before my new appt, she asked if she could schedule me later. No problem. But I expressed I also needed her to fix the cut. In the photos, you can see that it is not even. I also asked for some face framing that wasn't done. She said she could add low lights for free but the cut would be $20. I told her I didn't understand why she would charge more, ultimately paying $165 for a cut and color that was not acceptable. The bleach was left in my hair to long and fried my hair. You can also see that in the photos. When I expressed that I didn't think I should be charged more, her only solution was to send my money back. She was upset over a Facebook post I made stating I was disappointed in my experience that did not include the salon name or her name. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have my money back than go back there BUT accepting responsibility for your mistakes is huge. I understand accountability feels like an attack if you aren't emotionally mature but I treated her with respect. I didn't use profanity or attack her. We are humans, mistakes happen. I was told by her there was a miscommunication. I was pretty clear I wanted what was in the photo. We talked about manipulating the color of the highlights a little but I did not want money pieces and expressed I wanted my natural brown to be as prominent as the photo. I am told this happens all the time there. She proceeded to make a post about running her business on honesty and letting her clients be heard. Let me be clear, she only lets you be heard if you are happy with her work. I was punished for being honest. She also boasted that boundaries are beautiful. You got that right, I am grateful I can set them today and didn't allow her to charge me for work she didn't complete. Her business will carry on and I will find a new stylist. However, I have had so many people reach out about their experiences with her. I think it is worthy of sharing. 10/10 do not recommend.
