I bought my girlfriend a $250 gift certificate and she had $123 left on it. So she went in and asked to have her hair colored and cut. The color wasn't what she asked for and was charged $138 for both. Then they asked if she wanted it blow dried and she agreed. They charged her another $40 for the blow dry and her hair was still wet. They ended taking the $40 off her bill and walked out with wet hair. This place is a total rip off and that will be the last gift certificate I buy there. read more

I missed my appointment because my father died that same day, and she told me that everyone has their problems and told me that i now have to pay 50 percent down every time i book. You know I would not have a problem doing that but for the fact that it was really horrible to tell me that it was my problem that my father died. I have been going to Studio Branca for over 30 years. Reluctantly, I have to try a different salon. Stylists seem to always be leaving and the front desk is problematic - specifically did not care that I made an appointment over the phone but they could not find it in their system. The reaction was basically - not found - sorry. For a longtime customer and cost of $400 for a cut and color, I would hope they would be more pro-active. Bummer. read more

It took me a long time to write this review but I truly believe that the truth always prevails and that my side of the story deserves to be heard as well. I am going to leave out names because I believe that everybody deserves grace and has the opportunity to improve but my experience with this salon and a specific stylist within this salon makes me never want to come back And I would never refer any of my friends or family to go here. Background: I work in healthcare and over the summer I received a sign a sign on bonus from my job. I'm a single mom with little to no family in town and this experience was very unsupportive. I was really excited to finally have a little extra money and decided to make my princess little girl hair dreams come true. My previous lash girl who does not work at the salon Referred me to a master stylist that she had been going to for the last 2 to 3 years. My first experience with this artist was excellent she did a great job with color and gave me a really pretty cut we talked about how I wanted to do extensions and she did that consultation with me. We picked out extensions (type, color and length) and set my appointment for when they came in. This being my first experience with extensions I knew I had a lot to learn and that I would probably mess it up and I was fully open to that but excited to try it out. I decided on the k-bonds because I thought it would be easier to put up with work but I not only underestimated how busy I would be but also the amount of work that these type of extensions actually take. After a couple months in my new position and being scrubbed into long cases at the hospital for hours at a time I realized my mistake. This type of hairstyle just wasn't compatible with me or my lifestyle and I admitted that. I reached out to this artist and let her know that it was my fault and I knew she warned me that I might not be able to keep up with the maintenance of 24" k-bond extensions. I had a couple issues with knotting and matting and kept trying to reach out to this artist for help and felt like I kept getting the runaround. Because the same hairstylist goes to my same lash girl I found out from the lash girl that my feelings were actually valid. This artist told the lash girl that I was "manic", that she was unhappy with her life and that she was purposely making our schedules not match up. The hair stylist referred me to what she felt was a lower level hairstylist at Studio Branca to help remove my matting and knots, simply because she didn't want to do it but she didn't have the ability to communicate that to me. This "lower level stylist" (and another girl that helped her that day) were actual earth angels -they were so understanding, nice, kind and a joy to be around. They helped me laugh at my mistake and they helped me to feel better about my hair. The day I had my hair extensions put in at the salon I had an appointment with my psychiatrist because I'm a healthcare worker suffering from PTSD. This is not normally an appointment I would do in such a public place but that was just the way my schedule worked out at the time and I need to refill my medication. This stylist was very understanding and assured me that it was no big deal and that many people work on their laptops while getting their hair done. Throughout my appointment I thought that we got along, we laughed, we had fun and she even asked me for my psychiatrist's number at the end of this. I have never given that number to anyone because it's so personal but because she just spent hours putting in my hair and I thought this was someone who could potentially be your friend I offered her the help and gave up that number. So to hear her calling me names (manic) behind my back to a mutual acquaintance was highly unprofessional. Mental health is some thing that is very near and dear to my heart and I've had many evaluation's but I have never been diagnosed as bipolar And even if I was that would not be something for this stylist to comment on or to make fun of somebody about. I literally spent a mortgage payment on my hair to be completely disrespected by this unprofessional girl and I wrote this review because I really hope nobody else has this same experience. I have been going to Studio Branca for years and my stylist is incredible! She is an absolute perfectionist and the staff is professional, friendly and helpful. The challenge? They are now charging an "Admin fee". I was told the fee is due to inflation and they didn't want to raise prices (even though prices HAVE gone up over the past year). There is no signage that highlights this new fee, and it is not something that the client is told about in advance its just snuck into your bill. Given that I pay $550+ including tip, each visit, this additional fee is completely over the top. I can't help but think this "admin fee" is to help with the remodel of their CC location. Recommendation for the leadership team: Do away with the admin fee. OR if you are going to keep it--be up front about it and let clients know its a percentage so the more they spend, the more they will pay. And if you keep it, will you do away with the admin fee as inflation continues to go down? read more

The day of my Gala, I walked in the shop and they said due to how long it will take to do your hair we cannot keep this appointment because we would have to push all the other appointments back! I asked, what about the loyalty of this appointment I'm a paying customer! They refused to do my Appointment. This review is for my wife's experience. On their website Studio Branca advertised $115 for a full foil.I asked for my hair to be lightened from dark brown/black to a lighter color. I was told it would be an extra $30 for product to keep my hair from being "fried". I agreed. That adds up to $140. Total amount came out to $216 charged for extra gloss and color without being told it would cost more; and a full foil is $140 not $115. $100 more than advertised in total. My head started to burn in the heater. Instead of being lightened to a brown I have streaks of bright blonde and the blonde areas of my hair have become elastic and is all breaking off. Will never come here again. Ruined my hair and and I started crying once I got home and realized the extent of the damage. read more

I am really sorry to be writing this review, because the salon in general was so nice at first and took care of me. My complaint is with the stylist Kristie, who failed to give back a full pack of tape ins after removing my hair last winter (less than a year ago) and the salon who did not believe me or even try to solve this issue with me. I was never late or missed an appointment until the last time I had an appointment. It was my last because of how I was treated. I was on my last week of pregnancy and accidentally slept through my appointment. She charged me the full price of my service instead of half or a portion like what is fair and usual practice. I was so torn on coming back I was hurt and also felt bad about the no show. But I soon realized that it is not custom to do this especially to a customer that has not done that before. I bought hair product, I came in on time, tipped well...I was a good customer and still I'm treated like this. On top of that when I ask for my hair back, not only did I get the run around for at least a month about it and no real message from Kristie trying to talk about it or make it better..she did not give back all of my hair. It's not about the money, it's the principal of it. If it was about the money, I wouldn't have easily spent so much on services and product. My regret is letting them charge me full price on a service not rendered, that is unfair. It is also illegal to steal something that is paid for by someone else. I never received my tape ins back, and the salon won't even try and reimburse me for it. They think I'm lying apparently, why would I lie? I could have saved all of this time and effort. I don't think it necessary to do this for something I already have. I could have easily moved on if that were the case, and would have been preferred. I do not make things up to just waste my time, I do this when I am mistreated blatantly more than once and then not believed when I say something about it. As this was going on I also heard many stories from at least 3 different ladies (who referred me to Kristie and who I referred to Kristie) who no longer go to Kristie because of her mal-practices. The salon never called me back when trying to resolve this issue, I took months trying to resolve it and I was never believed. Every time I called I was told I'd be called back and I was never called back. There is some shady things going on and I'm not the only one that that's gone through things like this with her. I even took a picture of what I received and I was still not believed, they insist I have all of my hair. But how do they know? The stylist kept client hair at her own house, and not at the salon. I had bought a volume weft and a pack of tape ins because of the shaved side of my head. It's on Kristies instagram even what she put in my hair. I only got back the weft and not the tape ins. Disappointed yet again by Studio Branca Creve Coeur. Roughly 5 years ago I went to see a stylist at the studio Branca Creve Coeur. I have been a regular customer for many years however my current stylist went out on maternity leave so I needed to see somebody new. I should've left with that stylist and never looked back. Then next time I went and received the worst haircut I've ever gotten. The stylist nipped, Clipped and messed up my color worse than I could've ever imagined. When I brought it to the attention the next day when I called they told me I would need to pay for color correction. The stylist had messed up on the color, not me. Every time I go and I get very specific directions of what I want for my hair this lady could not handle basic directions--with pictures. Therefore I never went back until now. I will start by saying Maya in chesterfield was one of the best experiences I've ever had and any spa. Her cut was perfect hair color was even better. I had seen her and started following her on Instagram and decided I would give her a try. I was very happy when I did. Because I haven't been back in so long she offered to give me the new client special which included cut with my color. She offered me also a free facial that came for new clients and I was very excited to use so I immediately booked my appointment. I felt like I made the right decision and giving studio Branca another chance and thought maybe they figured out the value of a good customer. Boy was I wrong! This is when My experience yet again at Creve Coeur turned sour. I had set up my appointment two weeks in advance marked on my calendar and was prepared to go in when this morning I received a call that said I no longer qualify for the promotion because they looked in the record and I have been to the spa before. I explained that yes I have received spa services however I was given this promotion from Maya for this facial because I was a new haircut appointment. The snarky receptionist on the phone told me too bad and that they could not honor that discount and that she will be canceling my appointment. I had booked for an upcharge service of a hydra facial. I was willing to spend an additional hundred + dollars on the promotion that I was given and was willing to pay for derma planning. I asked if they would still honor the promotion because I was willing to do all these additional services and the woman who never took an economics class told me no they would rather have an empty appointment than filling it with a free or discounted facial. Because of the rude receptionist, I will have to strongly Consider if I ever want to give my business back to studio Branca even though I was very happy with Maya's services. But I would much rather pay somebody else to do a good enough job and have the salon treat its customers with the respect they deserve. read more

This place is great! The inside is nice and clean but could use a nice remodel. I love my stylist (Alyson) and have been seeing her for over 2 years. This is probably one of the best places in STL to get your hair cut...but it's also one of the most expensive. For me though, I trust my stylist and its worth the money. When you check-in for your appointment, the hostess will get you whatever you want to drink...coffee, tea, soda, water, and even wine! So that's a really nice perk! All of the stylists there are super nice and do their best to make you comfortable. I'll continue going here as along as I live in STL. read more

This review is mostly for Julie, who saved me from a life of ponytails. My mom has been going to Julie religiously for years, and I've lived out-of-state so I never had the opportunity to visit her myself. I have ridiculously crazy hair--there's a lot of it, it's about 25% gray even though I'm wayyy too young for it, and it's frizzy no matter how I style it. I spend hours on Pinterest and have sat in several stylists' chairs across Chicago to try to get a magical color/cut combo that will make me love my hair, but hadn't experienced it...until I went to Julie! I expected to experience what I normally do--go in, spend a big chunk of change, like my hair enough when I leave the salon, and then put in a ponytail every day because it's still too thick/frizzy/weird to bother styling. I went in to see Julie wanting my grays covered, some balayage, and a haircut that would somehow make my hair manageable. First of all, Julie is ADORABLE and if you're going to spend three hours in a chair with someone, you'd better like them. So, big check mark there. She also spent a good amount of time on my haircut, which usually gets kind of left behind after the stylist has to spend hours on my color. Check. And last/most importantly--the overall effect is AMAZING! I never knew my hair could look this good. And the real test is that, over a month later, I've only worn my hair up twice because styling it is so much easier and once it's styled, it doesn't still look like Hagrid's hair. The only reason I didn't give five stars is not because of Julie, but because of the prices at Studio Branca. It's expensive, and there's no getting around that. But loving your hair is priceless. I booked Studio Branca online to get my hair done. They called me right when I booked, and said "nobody is Available to take your appointment today" and then another 5 minutes later I had a stylist from the salon call me back and said she could take me and "didn't know why they said nobody could take me"....... when I booked online it said the starting price was $152 for a foilyage? So I'm like okay, cool they can get me in! but FAILED to tell me she was a MASTER LEVEL 7 STYLIST (didn't tell me until I checked out) and that her being a level 7 master stylist would affect the pricing. I wasn't told about pricing the ENTIRE TIME, I just assumed it would be the price that I booked for online! So I come in, and I'm STANDING in the lobby for 25 minutes because she was finishing her client (im 33 weeks pregnant so it wasn't very fun standing waiting) finally they sit me down and talk about how I booked for the foilyage and that we could definitely accomplish that today. She goes back with her assistant, mixes lightener then gets right to work. I'm noticing that there is no hand painting going on.... I work in the salon industry so I knew she wasn't doing a foilyage. She was foiling teasy lights and horizontal weaves..... a full foil was listed for $126 so I'm already confused when she just said that we were doing the foilyage??????? then at the bowl asks me "do you want to leave with wet hair or style?" I'm like WHAT??? Who asks that... I'm like "can you blow dry my hair please?" So in the end, she finished my hair, I rebooked then they tell me my total is 310. I'm like wait WHATTT???????????? I have been here twice and I really like it. I am always welcomed and asked if I would like something to drink after I check in. No smirking or false voices, just professional. I appreciate that. Reese has done my hair twice now, she was recommended for my curly hair as she has curly hair also. (You can not tell because she does not wear it that way.) She is very nice and has made my hair look fantastic both times she has done it. I always fear going to new stylists because it is hard to get one that does hair color well or even correctly. She has done very well both times with good advice on the upkeep of my hair each time. Heck the 2nd time I got my hair done and went out that night I got hit on by the handsome waiter! (Husband was not happy but I was flattered.) Now THAT hasn't happened in a VERY long time. Yes indeed I'm keeping this hair stylist. hehe. They use Aveda products which means that it is more natural then anything you have had done to your hair so far, at least in my case. My scalp use to react really poorly to my hair(gray hair since age 23) being dyed. I had no idea that the hair salon's products were the reason until I came here and my scalp did not act poorly afterwards. It was a relief to my teeny self-esteem that something else was not going downhill as I age up the hill towards 50.(Yeah yeah let me lament for a moment.. it doesn't happen often lol :p :) ) You might pay a little more but then a healthy scalp and hair is worth it. Plus Reese is very nice young woman(20's) that has talent. She is a keeper. I have gotten my nails done both times also, shellac .. which btw is worth the cost as it looks fresh for weeks, but the jury is out on the nail stylist. The first time I had my nails done by this woman she was very nice but the second time I was rushed through and I didn't feel like she did a great job, nor that she cared what kind of job she did. She might have been having an off day so I'm going to wait until next time before I mention her or simply try another nail stylist if she bombs out by my standards. Meh. **Edit** The shellac flaked off after 3 days. Simply not going back to her. As many well dressed, nicely coiffured, pretty stylists walking around I expected the atmosphere to be catty(Judging again I know :p sigh) but I was wrong and relieved to be so. I'm sure no one is singing kumbaya around the campfire but it is a relaxing enough atmosphere as everyone is focused in what they are doing. Everyone people watches to some extent but my self-consciousness never picked up on anything negative, just curiosity. I will update after I get a facial. Aveda facials are fantastic, as the people who produce the line demand a training to go with the product. I look forward to getting one here. TLDR: The first small street in a smaller strip mall directly past the huge Dierberg's strip mall. Aveda(relatively natural) products is a HUGE plus. Try Aveda at least once. Reese as your hair stylist is a VERY good choice, hair, style, and attitude. She knows curly hair. Your choice between a manicure or shellac? Go Shellac. Lasts longer. I am giving this three stars because I have been to this salon several times and my hair done by Charli. The outcome was always amazing. I had a different stylist today and I could not be more disappointed in the results. My husband knew I was getting my hair done today and when he saw it, he asked me if I had cancelled my appointment because it didn't look anywhere like it had in previous visits. I had a last minute change which was nice of them to be able to accommodate but the service should not be sacrificed. The stylist was tugging and pulling on my hair which became painful. I went to Studio Branca to get eyelashes put on for my ENGAGEMENT party. After completing one eye, the lady (Ginger) told me they had run out of eyelashes - unprofessional! I waited 10 minutes while she left to go purchase more. She proceeded to do the other eye and was clearly having a lot of difficulty. Half of the eyelashes were glued onto my eyelid. The other half just kept falling off while she was doing it. It was pretty clear that she had NO IDEA what she was doing. I was assured that they would last for "24-48 hours".. sure enough, I got back to my hotel to do my makeup for the party and as I put eyeliner on, 3 of them fell out. Mid-way through the party, the rest of them were off. I was completely DISAPPOINTED with both Ginger and the service. I can't believe I paid $25.. they didn't even offer a discount for running out of eyelashes!! DO NOT SEE GINGER. DO NOT GET EYELASHES. read more

Seven a.m. That's what time I used to have to get my hair done. I was too crazy to ever fit it in any other time. I am really not a morning person. I can't drink coffee so this only adds to the misery that is... Seven a.m. I digress. So I went. And every time I would walk into Studio Branca - mostly foggy and possibly half drunk from the night before - I would feel myself begin to detox and relax into the peaceful little bubble that is Studio Branca. The music is always really lovely (thanks to the previously mentioned Steve), the Aveda candles (which is what I think heaven must smell like) are always lit, on top of that all of the stylists always seem perfectly styled themselves and completely blissful to be doing their jobs at this early hour. Megan is my stylist and she is the only person I have ever met that I think must embody the definition of "sweet". She is bubbly and upbeat (even before seven a.m.) which is a stark contrast to my day break demeanor. She is able to color my locks to the perfect milky golden shade that I love, and she gives the absolute Worlds. Best. Head. Massage. Ever. (This is an amazing little perk that comes with all coloring services at Studio Branca) A few other little secrets - - If you come after work and need to unwind - Studio B always carries a fabulous wine that they will serve to you at no extra charge. - While you are getting the wonderful head massage in front of the relaxing waterfall wall you can request a conditioning treatment that will literally turn back you hair ten years. - Last but not least - buy the Aveda candle - it is possible it can change your entire evening bath routine read more

Totally disappointed with my service and the staff. The front desk girls are rude, uneducated, untrained and completely unprofessional. They were completely clueless about everything and snobby to boot. There is no where quiet to wait before your spa services. And during my massage I could hear people walking by and talking loudly the entire time. Not relaxing at all. I had a massage done in a "shower room" that echoed and smelt like mold. Yup, I'm a fan of Studio Branca! I consider it my little slice of heaven everytime I have ANYTHING done here. Services: I come here to get the brazilian wax (that's right folks, nothing is too off topic for me!). I get it from this lady named Sarah, who is the first waxer to single-handedly change my life. She is simply AMAZING because she's quick and painless!! Seriously folks, she's GOOD! So good in fact that women in St. Louis have mentioned her name on the radio before!! My BF wanted to send her a Christmas card last year, no joke! This place also gives GREAT facial treatments and Sarah can do that too! Best of all, they carry Aveda products and a skincare line called Skinceuticals. I've used their "Simply Clean" cleanser and can't imagine using anything else now! It leaves your face feeling fresh without drying it out! In addition, they are ALWAYS up to par on their OPI lines, so feel free to book an appointment to get that mani/pedi in the 80's neon color this summer! What a blessing! He is an amazing stylist and all around good guy. He really knows how to work with your hair and is honest about what he things will look good based on your face shape, coloring etc. He also pointed me in the direction of Julie, my colorist. Now I must digress and say that I trust my stylists totally...I mean that is their job, right. So I put myself in their hands...which, with color, can be risky. My regular nail tech has gone back to school, so I'm with a new girl now, but Dominic is also very good and I'm very please with the attention to detail she gives my manicures. I have visited both Reese and Sarah for hair appointments and both can do wonders with my thin, fine-textured hair, giving me nice body ad volume and are both equally helpful at assisting me in product selection. I absolutely love this place. It's the best place to get your hair done. If you can get in with Steve, he's THE best at cutting hair, making you look good, and giving you a nice counseling session. He lets you get it all out. Steve's the only person I've been to that hasn't tried to get me to cut all my hair off. He's expensive though---his haircuts are btw $65-$90+tip. Oh and their colorists are amazing. If they do a color and it doesn't turn out, they'll take the time to get it the way you want it. One more thing, they have great makeup artists. I've had my makeup done there once before and I'm going back in March. They sell Aveda makeup there and the lip glosses are awesome and the artists actually know what foundation will match your skin tone. This place is great and compared to some spas out there is not way over the top in price. Not cheap - but not ridiculous. They do hair, nails, and there is a spa where they do the massages and facials and peels and all that good stuff. Once or so a year they have a gathering where they have appetizers and drinks while they show you whats new there. But any time you go for services, they will offer you something to drink which can range from water to lemonade to wine. You try a glass of wine while having your tootsies soak in a nice warm bubbly bath and see how relaxed you get! I recommend my girl Tori for hair or nails. She did my hair once so good I looked at it in the mirror and wondered where did it come from? Whose hair was on my head? Soft, silky, shiny! At the age of 26, after spending years of hitting up nearly every hair salon in the city of St. Louis, I truly believe I have found heaven on earth. If luscious locks, striking highlights and a flowing mane are part of your nirvana...then I highly suggest you try Studio Branca. From the moment I walked through the door, I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by smiling faces and a staff that genuinely cared if I had a great experience. One of the best signs that this was going to be a fabulous day was how many women were in the salon. It's always a good thing when there are lots of females anxiously awaiting their moment to go under the knife...eh...scissor.... For starters, my bubbly, cute and fabulous stylist, Allison, was more than attentive. Before we even sat down I was offered a drink...an alcoholic one...FOR FREE! They had me at "would you like a glass of wine?"....but seriously... Allison listened to my every want and desire, and yes, I'm still talking about hair. She asked lots of questions about my style, my look and even my life. She made sure that I was comfortable with what we decided on and made me confident that I would be happy with my head when I left. To be honest, I was thrilled! For the first time ever, I felt like one of those Pantene Pro-V women in the commercials that walks out of the salon with flowing, beautiful waves. And, not to rub it in or anything, but she gave me a head massage during my shampoo. I mean, on top of a fabulous cut and color? They definitely go above and beyond to make you feel pampered and perfect. When I walked out of the salon, after making my next appointment, I was eager to show off my fabulous new look. I was confident, excited and so happy with my new discovery - Studio Branca. The stylists are friendly, fun, attentive and very talented. One thing I always do in a salon is look at other women getting their hair done...just to see if they are as pleased or as distressed as I am at that moment. I love Studio Branca, and recommend it to anyone, any chance I get. I've been going to SB for about 3 years now, and have never had a bad experience. The salon is always clean and comfortable, the staff friendly. Atmosphere is great, so relaxing to get your hair washed close to the sound of a fountain built into the wall. I'd highly, highly recommend Becky. The first time I went to SB I needed my hair cut quickly, and she was available. I've never switched, nor have I wanted to switch hairdressers. She gets my personality and my hair type, and is able to translate my loose directions into exactly the cut I want. Once, I told her I was going for a french girl summer, and wanted her to match my haircut to that...and, despite its craziness, she did it! So I've been to Studio Branca a few times and each visit is it's own special pampering session. I love the quiet atmosphere and the glass of wine I enjoy with my service. I always leave feeling refreshed. Last time I got a new Shellack Manicure. Unlike some of those discount nail places Studio Branca has a ton of great Shellack colors and even has that new sparkle (I just got a light pink but a girl next to me got sparkle and it was pretty). Tori did my nails and we chatted like old friends about everything from movie stars to weddings while I sipped my wine. When I left I had a wonderful manicure and a totally relaxed self! read more

I've been getting my hair cut at Studio Branca for almost 2 years and absolutely adore the setting as well as the head and neck massage during the shampoo. My previous stylist moved out of state, so I had to rely on my fellow yelpers to find a new one - but I was unwilling to change salons. Mainly because that massage just calls my name! Anywho, I decided on Tori, and just had my hair cut by her last week. She is an established, and educated stylist who knows how to do what she does. I appreciated her insight into my curly hair and what to do with it, as well as what products work best on it. Throughout my wash and cut she walked me through the products she was using, so I felt like I left knowing how to style my hair. Afterwards, she continued to be attentive and asked if I wanted to schedule my next cut - with my new baby coming in the next few weeks, I declined - but I really like that her focus was on making sure I am and stay happy with my hair. Andrea is absolutely amazing! She is extremely talented, detailed and kind. She worked with me until we got every detail of my hair how I wanted it. I definitely recommend this stylist. Clients also get a lavender or peppermint scalp massage during wash which is a nice touch. read more

I could have given a 0 if it's allowed here. This place royally messed my hair. I asked for an angled bob and this is what she has done to my hair. I regret going here and am so depressed every time I see myself on the mirror. I strongly believe the stylist who attended me is so inexperienced and does not even know how to hold the scissors properly. Many a times the comb got stuck in the tangled hair and she pulled it out causing pain. I have been to good salons where the stylists usually carefully partitions the hair and detangles it before working on it. I can't explain what irregularities I see in the hair backside. The middle layer is so short hidden between the longer top and bottom layers. I don't really understand the logic behind it. Stay away from this salon if you want to avoid a huge disappointment and hair that looks like partially grazed by a donkey. What irritates me the most is after all the disaster done, the staffs that cross us while we are checking in the mirror keep saying, "it looks cute".
