This was my first time visiting Joseph Mathew Salon, I am from out of town and was visiting family. I had been wanting to cut my hair for the longest but am very picky with who I let touch my hair because I have had bad experiences in the past. I did look up reviews before coming in and saw so many good things said about this salon. So I decided to schedule an appointment online. I made an appointment with Nikki Schniers and I am so happy I did! She knew what I wanted and it came out exactly how I pictured having it. It's a shame I don't live here but I do know anytime I am in town, Nikki will be my go-to for sure! We had the best experience with the Joseph Mathews hair and makeup team for my daughter's wedding. Having them travel to our location was amazing! Amber and Linsey created the most beautiful updos that were flawless and stayed secure through all night of dancing. Nikki and Felicia gave us all beautiful makeup that did not melt off even with 100 degree weather! Thank you all for making us all feel beautiful and confident. The owner, Amber,is amazing here!! Always gets my husband and I in for an appointment last minute when I come to town. She is always working to do the best possible job and give her clients exactly what they ask for. Every color and cut I've gotten from her has looked exactly like I wanted. She often suggests and explains things that would look good on my hair, but doesn't pressure me into anything. She is highly skilled and has been doing hair since she was 16. The prices are so affordable and they always carry the newest and best hair products in the store. They are very knowledgable about what works for what type of hair and can help you figure out what products will make your hair work and look the way you want it to. She also styled my hair for my wedding and although I didn't know exactly what I wanted but gave her a vague description and some pictures from Pinterest. She came up with a design that I absolutely loved. It was exactly what I had imagined and went well with the style of my dress. She even coached my mom, maid of honor, and I on how to put in and take out the veil without messing anything up, which was very helpful. I have thick, light brown hair that I have been getting highlighted and cut by Amber, the salon owner, for 5+ years. I have never left the salon disappointed in my cut or color. I moved to North Carolina years ago and still go to Amber as often as I am able to... at the cost of 3" roots when I don't make it back to Illinois for months at a time. She's the only one allowed to touch my hair after one too many attempts at finding a hair dresser on the east coast then going back to Amber begging for help fixing orange hair.
