    bolani with potato and scallions
    Alishbah S.

My family and I came here for dinner one night. The restaurant was not very busy; it was just us and another table, and someone came to pick up an order. There is plenty of parking and the restaurant has very nice simple decor. It was clean and neat inside. The server was also very attentive and sweet. They were playing very old Indian music for some reason, I thought that was funny. For appetizers, we got the bolani, mixed option which came with potato and scallions. It was DELICIOUS. Homemade style, which is very rare to find. Most restaurants just use the pre-made wonton wrappers, but their dough is fresh and made in-house. The white sauce and green sauces were ok, I wish the green sauce was thicker and spicier. The rice for the kabuli pulao was very flavorful and tasted homemade as well. I also tasted the chicken korma, which also tasted homemade but was just mid. Where I think they can improve are the meats. The chicken and beef tikka/kabobs could use more seasoning and could've been more juicier. Overall a good restaurant.

We got the magnificent wings, the silky hummus, the fantastic mixed salad, the hot bread, the delicious dumplings, off the bone lamb chops, and gorgeous chicken kebabs. The Afghani brown rice was a big hit. We made sure we had room for the stupendous baklava served warm with the Afghani coffee and cardamom tea. The inside is warm, inviting and decorated with lovely mementos and souvenirs & great music playing in the background. We got to know a very sweet mother and daughter ( patrons) who also found this gem Kabul Grill on Yelp and loved their lunch. Can't wait to be back!

My friend and I got the barg kabob with naan and the Sabzi palak (beef with spinach) that we got with rice. Both were good, but I enjoyed the texture of the meat and spinach dish more. The rice was flavorful. I overheard Rafi explaining to the other table and folks that got takeout that it would be an extra charge, but he could customize their orders, which I thought was nice that he was very transparent with them upfront and willing to work with the customer so that they could order the items that they want. I also appreciated him explaining to my friend that Turkish coffee comes with sugar and not milk and clarifying if she was OK with that before he made the coffee. We were given free firnee. Rafi was kind to check if we are allergic to dairy before offering it to us. Overall, the food was good. Service was fine and there was free parking in the back.

Kabul Kabab offers the most delectable, flavorful, and cost-effective family meal in the area. The combo #1 or #2 is more than enough to feed a family of 4-6 and it has great value. A combo comes with salad, onions/grilled tomatoes, 2-4 skewers if your choice (depending on which one you get) and a whole STEAMER TRAY of delicious rice. Pro tip: the lamb kebab is always worth the extra $3 or so and the brown rice is the winner in our home (brown rice = more flavorful + more fiber = winwin!) Please do give this place a try if you're in the area and need to feed at least 3-4 mouths--the people there are so nice and the food is amazing--would give 30/10 stars if I could!

Tried the chicken kofta during dinner time which came with two skewers, rice, onions and roasted tomato, and house salad. House bread came with the typical sauces (a yogurt, a cilantro, and chili sauce). Meat was tender and well seasoned. Brown rice was nice too and sumac and paprika were on the table for garnish. I also ordered the qabuli rice topping which was disappointing. Usually the shredded carrots are candied, but these were normal carrots and raisins microwaved with lots of moisture but not transformed in any way. Nonetheless, food was good and portions were generous. Easily makes two meals.

Which we are like that is fine, we would like 2 beef seekh kabab platter. For some reason the waiter was so confused. He asked us if we wanted naan, or Karhai gosht to go with our kababs but we said no as we wanted the rice platter. We explained to him to get us the platter with rice and salad. He tells us 20 minutes. 20 minutes for four kababs? Ok, I guess we don't have a choice. We waited 30 minutes and then it's taking such a long time that we decided we should just take it to go. We get home and what do we have? Brown rice and 2 of the driest beef kababs that were ever made on Earth. I wouldn't even give it to the stray dogs. We didn't even receive a salad either. The worst $13 I have ever spent. If you ever find yourself in Hicksville and in the mood for Afghani food, do yourself and your wallet a favor by going down a few blocks to Choopan. You won't be sorry. Thank me later. This place will never get my business again. Oh and by the way, this used to be a "kabab king" although they changed their name to kabab zone, they still use kabab Kings menu.
