    Bakalava

Got a baklava with ice cream here and it was fabulous. The baklava was drizzled with honey and topped with ice cream made it the perfect sweet treat to enjoy by the ocean side. We parked by the residential area and strolled down. They also validate parking at mozambique down the street.

Superb restaurant serving quality food and great service. They are very unique since they serve both Italian and Greek food. The environment is dark and intimate, perfect for date night or any celebration. They have good portions and the food is all delicious. Staff are friendly and they have indoor and outdoor seating. 4.3/5 Came for happy hour (3-6 wed through sun) and really enjoyed the experience. The waitstaff is friendly, there's plenty of seating, and we were sat at our table immediately. There's a nice outdoor patio, but we sat indoors. We ordered a glass of wine ($10) each and started with complimentary focaccia. The rigatoni, penne, and souvlaki (chicken or beef) were all great. Portions are large so you can share and still have plenty to eat. Highly recommend this place for happy hour!

TLDR: top tier service and food; a must try their Chef's rotelle when you're in Laguna Beach Chef's Rotelle 5/5 Halibut Piccata 5/5 Caesar Salad 2/5 Located right next to the beach, Rumari is an Italian gem with some Greek dishes as well. Most of the employees seem to be Italian and the service is warm and friendly all around. They start you off with bread and some sort of lemony yogurt dill dip, the happy hour menu is robust, and their cocktail/beer/wine offerings are heavily Italian-influenced. My mom wasn't too fond of their limited cocktail and beer options, but she's a hard woman to please. So you know Rumari's food is good because she loved it! The Chef's Rotelle are lasagna rolls with half cream and turkey bacon (?) and half marinara. It was not only aesthetically pleasing, but it was also rich, creamy, and piping hot. The tomato side really helped to balance the heaviness of the cream. The halibut piccata was also beautifully presented, cooked, and garnished. I loved the accompanying spinach. The only meh for me was the Caesar salad as there was too much sauce and too much cheese to be enjoyable. That's probably the authentic way to eat it though so that's on me. Thank you Rumari for a great time! P.s. if you go on a birthday, you are in for a treat ;)

Amazing! Local friends of ours who are foodies themselves recommended us to join them for Happy Hour between 4 and 6pm.... we decided to go in on a Saturday at 5pm and it was not too busy as yet. Outdoor seating was available but as there is a lot of noisy (bang-bang-bang exhaust) traffic, sitting indoors is highly preferred. Cozy place! Very inviting but definitely not too cramped. In regard to our food, our funchi al forno and sausage pizza were fantastic and the drink specials ($5 bottled beer, $10 wine) attractive. For the ones not too familiar with Italian beer, Peroni is very light so Moretti would be the better choice if there's a need for more flavor. Our host Leo did a stellar job in entertaining us. 10/10.

We were looking for a dinner spot near our hotel on Saturday night, the first day of our trip and found Rumari which was less than 15 min walk away. We arrived around 7:30 and unfortunately the restaurant was already busy, so we were only able to get a table outside. It was breezy out so we were glad we dressed in layers. Ended up ordering the chicken souvlaki. Nothing special to write home about for this dish.. the chicken was a tad dry. Since we were seated outside it felt like we were ignored by our servers. We asked for the bill three times and waited awhile till it was too cold out that we went into the restaurant to pay. Service could definitely be improved on this point.

So for a casual Italian this is good. They share valet with Mozambique which is great and just a block away - $10 - free electric vehicle charging. They are a sister restaurant to Mozambique so they also offer crayons and paper for the kids to color which is always fun for the littles. The kids did not like the cheese pasta which was heavily doused in butter. The caprese was ok but average. The cheese seemed store bought so not special. We should have stuck with our initial thought to get the greek and not have changed to the caprese when we learned N's dish came with the greek. The greek salad is amazing and the flavors are on point with the acidity and herbs. I would def. order the greek salad next time. The riagtoni fileto marsala was a huge hit. My kids really enjoyed my dish as well. The filet was cooked well and the flavor of the marsala was delicious. N enjoyed his chicken souvlaki.

Great ambiance. The food was not my favorite. The atmosphere was fab but the taste of the pasta and apps were really mediocre.

And it starts at ten bucks. That's a ridiculous bargain. In a white tablecloth Italian restaurant, the same cheese wheel theater could easily run north of thirty dollars, probably delivered by someone wearing an apron cleaner than your kitchen towels. You can add chicken and other toppings, but I went with the three flavor pasta trio, served on a wooden plank. It's visually impressive, filling, and compared with most quick-service food these days, a genuinely respectable value. There is, however, one important thing to understand before walking through the door, everything begins with Alfredo. Pesto, tomato, and the other flavors are added afterward, but the creamy cheese sauce is the foundation. If Alfredo isn't your thing, this probably isn't your place. My wife is firmly in that camp, so she ordered a salad. That's where the operation started to wobble. The lettuce was wilted, and the green goddess dressing had an odd, unpleasant flavor. We also ordered pita bread, which appeared to have been removed from a plastic bag, cut into pieces, and dropped onto a plate without heat, seasoning, or much thought. It was cold, slightly stale, and depressing. The frustrating part is that both problems are easy to fix. Toast the pita. Brush it with olive oil. Add a little salt and herbs. Treat the salad like someone might actually be excited to eat it. The pasta trio, though? Solid. Rich, satisfying, and an excellent deal. Judging by the packed dining room on a Friday night, plenty of other people have reached the same conclusion. Zesty Olive has the Alfredo pasta experience down. Add one genuinely good olive oil based pasta for people who don't want the cream and cheese, and bring the salads and sides up to the same standard as the main attraction. Do that, and they may have a real winner.

As an anecdote, I work right next door to this restaurant, and the bartenders (Mickie and David, apologies if I have the names wrong) have always helped me out in a pinch when we have guests who need a place for some lovely appetizers and drinks! Totally recommend, 10/10. My dad is in town for only 4 days, and we're eating here for two of those evenings.

Also, Mediterranean food is always a good option! We were definitely seated right away upon being greeted by the host who had a friendly vibe. I think it was close to 6PM, so not bad for a dinner crowd (on a Friday night)-I do have to mention, that after we were seated it then started to get busier! Just fair warning, if you've never been to this area, it can be a bit challenging for parking. There are some free public parking garages/lots in the area, but they fill up very quickly, I suspect especially during the summer and on the weekends! Service was definitely high-end, but the food quality could be a bit better but overall it was tasty and well cooked. We ordered the spicy tuna tartare as a starter, eggplant, pizza, and Scottish Salmon. Salmon was a bit overcooked but the crispy skin was great. And I just wanted a lot more eggplant on my pizza but I think there was just too much feta, but maybe that's just me! Rachel, our server, was great and made us feel welcome and was down to earth!

Food is good, service was okay, speed was disappointingly slow…read more I get that these places make their food to order so I expected a wait, but they have the word "express" in their business name so I had a false expectation. Needless to say I sat there waiting for my two to-go orders for what felt like an eternity. A lot of people flowed in after me and they were all just waiting, it was weird since it was empty when I walked in and then seeing 6 tables of people with no food. I thought I ordered the cheaper lunch special of chicken koobideh and beef koobideh, but he punched in the full portion instead. I didn't really mind as it just became extra food for dinner. But I feel like if someone is going in at the beginning of lunch time, they would be looking to order lunch menu stuff? I guess I can't expect people to do what I my logic would do. The two koobidehs is pretty much the same thing I order at any of these places because I prefer ground meat that's tender and juicy and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the combo beef and chicken plate, the beef gyro plate, and two falafel on the side. The falafel didn't look impressive, but they were surprisingly excellent--moist, flavorful, and honestly better than Sababa's. I'll definitely order six next time. The gyro plate was solid, not overly greasy or heavy, and the seasoning was just right. I wasn't a fan of the hummus, which had a bitter aftertaste, but my partner liked the tanginess, so that may come down to personal preference. On the combo plate, the chicken stood out: juicy and tender. The beef seemed to be a leaner cut and was a bit dry. I'd probably skip this particular beef kebab next time and try a different one. The saffron rice and grilled tomato were a nice complement. The plate also came with jumbo naan, served warm and smelling amazing, definitely a highlight.
