Can't remember the last time I ate a cake that was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it. These cakes were so good they made a permanent food memory. A friend had the pineapple and chocolate rum cakes at a party. Both were perfectly balanced, moist and not overly sweet like most all the ones I previously had. Rum cake seems to have a bad reputation due to people putting way too much rum. It ends up overpowering the other flavors. These were the first rum cakes I ever had where just the right amount of rum is used to where all the ingredients are in perfect harmony. I convinced some friends to try it who didn't want to and they ended up loving it. Can't wait to try some other flavors in the near future. Hats off to the people making these sweet creations. Ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture! Amaretto rum cake and blueberry white chocolate cupcake were both delicious. And we sampled the bourbon ice cream while in the store which was also yummy. Owner and staff were super friendly and nice. Will definitely be back to try more! read more

Outstanding. Never had a rum cake like this. Think: A gourmet bunt cake but much more moist. The owner was extremely friendly and the cakes (yes, I had two) were amazing. I got a taste of their ice cream too and it will bring me back for sure. I came across Rumulations when I was preparing for a family party and the woman who usually makes our rum cakes wasn't available to get me one in time. You read that right. My family has a person who bakes all our rum cakes because we get them so often... In desperation I looked for a company that had Rum cakes on a Saturday and came across Rumalutions. I called and they called me back within an hour and let me know that I could come on Sunday to do a pick-up or order it for Delivery later in the week. I opted for the Butter Rum and Caramel (with the pecans), a coconut and small chocolate. My hard to convince family absolutely LOVED the rum cakes. So much so that they now insist that I should always bring the Rum cakes from Rumalutions! (Don't worry, the family caterer still makes our escovitch and beans and rice) I love the fact that you can ask for more or less rum based on the tastes and their customer service is amazing! Give them a try, they were easily the best rum cake I've had outside of the Caribbean! read more

Rumalutions is sort of a food truck without the truck, I guess. They travel around the DC area and ship their sweets nationwide. They are at this location in a little market on Saturdays, but I'd call first to make sure. From what I gather, the owner is a former marine (and looks like it!) who decided to start baking cakes instead. The two people working there (co-owners, maybe?) were crazy friendly with big smiling faces and I was happy to be pulled in for a sample. Actually, I kind of wanted a bear hug by the end of our conversation. I heard people raving about the rum cake, but I tried the bourbon ice cream. Whoaaa Nelly, was it good! Best ice cream I've had in DC. I would have ordered a scoop or two if I hadn't been riding my bike. I feel like I stumbled upon a gem and hope that these guys get a lot of business in the future. I'll definitely be getting some ice cream next time, and might order a rum cake to be shipped to my lady friend. read more

I walked past this magical place today at the farmers market in the Mosaic District. Unfortunately I was not looking to buy anything, but these cakes looked so heavenly and the man working suggested we at least taste them. Wow. So good. I am typically a chocolate only person, but since the white velvet is there specialty I had to try it. I have never enjoyed a piece of non-chocolate cake quite this much. I ordered the Coconut and the Red Velvet cakes for a party and received so many compliments on the cake. They are SO moist and the touch of rum really makes these cakes addicting. The first thing I see is a person's face light up followed by an "mmmm" and "it's so moist!". So far, my favorite cakes are the Coconut, Red Velvet, and Amaretto Rum Cakes. I still have the other flavors to order. It's that darn good. I want more. I heard Rumalutions is coming out with ice cream flavors too. I am SO LOOKING FORWARD to it. I found Rumalutions by accident and boy am I glad that I did. I live in NC but happened to be in Bowie, MD in April. A friend told us about an event where there would be a lot of vendors and various activities going on so we stopped by. I happened to see the Rumalutions Rum Cake sign and since I love sweets, I had to stop. I am so glad that I did because those rum cakes were absolutely awesome. I tried 6 different flavors and loved every one of them. I can't say that one was better than the other because they were ALL DELICIOUS AND MOIST. Since that time I have ordered the sampler set from their website. Now I'm waiting for a big event to happen so I can order a large cake and take it for my friends to enjoy. My friend was having his birthday on Saturday, 8/20 and I want to surprise him with a cake. A friend told me about Rumalutions Rum Cakes in Washington, DC. Since we live in Charlotte, NC, I was not sure if they would be able to deliver the cake to us on time. I called them on Tues, 8/15 and they told me the cakes would be delivered by 8/20. I was pleasantly surprised that it was delivered on his birthday. The cakes were RUMAlicious and still moist as if it was baked the same day. I love the packaging of the cakes.
