I had a small conversation about getting a quote from this location. My responses were very detail but Hai responses were short and kinda demeaning. Horrid way to treat your customer. Why would you ever respond with "lol" Edit: I got a personal message after posting this review. Still doesn't treat me like a customer and he had to put a sarcastic bit at the end. Screenshots say it all.

A picture of my transmission pan to show he removed and replaced the fluid.

Adrian was very knowledgable, polite, and professional! You would think these big shops would be desperate to hire him. He explained everything in detail, he even listened when I said I was particular about my truck putting in a paper mat to keep it clean. He did everything he could to make me comfortable with the work to be performed and I would definitely visit him again! Thanks Adrian!!

But if I had trusted this shop, I would have given them between $2600-4000 for work that was NOT needed. First off, I was lured in by an Instagram ad that offered me a detail included with an oil change. Sadly, I learned this was too good to be true!!! This shop is not very close to me, so I took about a half day off work to go to this oil appointment, only to be told the marketing person "messed up" and it wasn't really a detail but just a car wash, but they would "do me a favor" and hook it up. Well, they didn't hook it up. I can wash my car far better than they did. And a detail? They didn't even vacuum or dust it. Ridiculous. Next, they tried upselling me at every turn (starting with the detail they tried to sell me until I reminded them it was supposed to be included). They did an "inspection" and quoted me for all kinds of work I didn't need and/or couldn't afford. A Cabin air filter I had just done myself weeks prior. Brakes another shop did 2 months prior. Then some suspension stuff that seemed serious (see pic) - which stressed me out for months, until I finally had saved $ to take it to another shop... (Because, NO WAY I was getting work done at this place after all of the red flags.) Well guess what? Just recently I took it to a different (actually trustworthy) shop. The owner put it on the rack. Came back in with an weird expression as if to say, "you're not going to believe this." I had no idea what was about to happen. I was dreading how costly it might be, as I had delayed the repair by months. He had me walk under my car with him to see these supposedly cracked and leaking tie-rod boots and other issues... and everything was IN PERFECT CONDITION. Which makes sense bc my car has only about 50k miles. So the second shop sent me away without paying a penny, and I'll be going back there to get my brake pads done when they're *actually* due to be done. Shops like Oside Motorsports are why we can't trust mechanics. It's truly sad. I can't imagine if I performed my job this way, trying to unethically take ppl's hard-earned money, just because my customers have little choice but to trust me. It's shameful.

Oceanside Transmission was recommended to me by a mobile mechanic with a great reputation; he said…read morethey are a trustworthy full service transmission shop and would save me money over the dealership (of course I was doing everything to avoid going there). Dart was very kind, patient and took his time explaining things to me over the phone, not to mention that he listened to everything I had to say without ever sounding like he had something else he had to get to. They continued living up to this standard until I got the car back from them after going in for my appointment. I know my baby is in great hands with mechanics who will take me seriously, treat me with respect and not rip me off. Will always go to them when needed. Dart, thanks so much for giving me peace of mind.

I brought my wife's 2019 Chevrolet Suburban to West Automotive Group in Oceanside on August 17…read morebecause the ABS light was on. Josh told me it was probably a sensor and that the repair should take about two days. Two days passed with no call. When I contacted the shop on the third day, I was told they were still trying to diagnose the problem. Later that week, they said the ABS pump needed to be replaced. The part arrived Friday. That same Friday evening, I was told the shop had stripped the brake lines while working on the vehicle and needed to order additional parts. Since the shop had damaged the vehicle and we had to continue paying for a rental car, I told Josh I expected compensation. He explicitly told me we would be compensated. The following Monday evening, I was told the Suburban was ready. I picked it up, paid the full bill, and received no compensation or adjustment on the bill for the additional rental-car expenses. The situation became extremely dangerous on the drive home. When I approached a traffic light and applied the brakes, the brakes did not work. I had to swerve into oncoming traffic and run a red light to avoid a collision. Thankfully, no one was injured, but this could have easily resulted in a serious accident. I immediately called Josh and returned the vehicle to the shop. The lead mechanic drove our vehicle around the block and claimed there was no issue. I insisted to Josh to drive the vehicle showing him the problem myself. At approximately 45 mph, we applied the brakes, and the vehicle did not stop properly until it was traveling below approximately 10 mph. This was not a minor inconvenience. This was a potentially life-threatening brake failure immediately after the shop performed ABS- and brake-related work. The shop kept the vehicle and later told me it was ready on August 25. I again asked Josh about the compensation he had promised, including compensation for the rental car and an adjustment or credit on the repair bill. He said the general manager and owner knew what happened and would contact me. They did not. After 17 days of silence, I had to contact Josh again. The general manager, Pablo, eventually called. As of 37 days later, I still had no resolution, no compensation for the rental-car expenses, no credit or adjustment on the bill, and no satisfactory explanation. The lack of communication and accountability has been unacceptable. Customers should not have to chase a repair shop after nearly being involved in an accident because their vehicle was returned with brakes that did not function properly. Promising compensation for the rental car and repair-related expenses, then failing to follow through, is also completely unprofessional. I am posting this review to warn other customers. Before trusting this shop with safety-critical repairs, especially brake or ABS work, ask yourself whether you are comfortable dealing with this level of communication and accountability if something goes wrong. West Automotive Group still needs to address the rental-car expenses, provide compensation or an appropriate adjustment on the bill, explain how the vehicle was returned with a serious braking problem, and take responsibility for what happened.

As a result, I've made several visits to North County Auto Service for different issues. One of the first things that stood out to me was the professionalism of Mike and Wrex in the front office. They're straightforward, friendly, and honest about what your vehicle needs, even when having the work done at their shop isn't necessarily your best option. I also appreciated the way they treated me and my vehicle. My Traverse is pushing 100K and definitely has its share of wear and tear, but they've always been respectful and even complimentary about it. There was never any of the condescending attitude you sometimes get when bringing an older vehicle into a shop. More importantly, I trust their diagnoses. I've brought the Traverse in more than once expecting an expensive repair, only to have them tell me otherwise. One time I was convinced the air-conditioning system needed to be replaced. They diagnosed it properly and determined it simply needed to be recharged correctly, saving me from a much more expensive repair. Are they the cheapest shop around? Probably not. But I've learned that the cheapest repair can become the most expensive one if it isn't done correctly the first time. With North County Auto Service, I feel confident that I'm getting an honest diagnosis and quality work. They've earned their excellent reputation. If you're someone who gets nervous about taking your car to a mechanic because you're worried about being taken advantage of, this is the kind of shop you want to find.

They had my car for the day, and couldn't reproduce the issue in the .5 miles they drove on my car, then he called me on the phone at 3 pm and tried to tell me I don't know how to shift the car I've owned for 10 years. I told them fine, I'll come get it. I get there 60 minutes later, an hour before they close, and the doors are locked. They left early. They knew I was coming. They could have called, but didn't. Said they had an emergency. That was a lie... they answered their phone after hours with no emergency in their voice. You could see them inside. Tge Open neon sign facing Iceanside blvd was still lit. They just wanted to mess with me. They had my number. They could have told me they "had an emergency". Instead... Then I had to uber back in the morning for another $25. This place should be razed. They are totally worthless. I can prove every bit of this review. It will not be taken down. I was referred to them by Accurate Alignment who is awesome. I am also letting them know they should re-think their recommendation.
