Delicious food & the service went way beyond what is normally experienced in other restaurants!

we went to Rudy's for our anniversary. the atmosphere and service, as usual, was impeccable. I love their new old fashion with tequila drink. we ordered their special which was a wagu beef with a peppercorn sauce, the asparagus, and the beet salad. I cannot fully explain the flavor bursts that we experienced. the meal was exceptional. we had the apple bread pudding with vanilla bean cream and it was a wonderful ending to a wonderful dinner. Went to Rudy's for a work dinner and I thought it was excellent. The waitress brought out truffle fries for me when she brought bread for everyone else because I can't have gluten. What a wonderful substitute and they were amazing!! Their coffee martini was soooo good!! Their creme brulee was perfect. It is a bit pricey but compared to their neighbor, you actually get a lot of great food!! Worth every bite. The ambiance was warm and cozy, the staff was on top of everything. My wife (Liz) and I recently moved to the Clarkston area and decided to have dinner at Rudy's Prime SteakHouse last night. Our experience began with Nathan Smith, sharing the menu and drink items. Nathan has been here since opening and has years of experience in the restaurant business, which showed. Liz had a glass of wine and I had an Old Fashion. Liz said the wine was great and my old fashion was the best ever. For an appetizer, we ordered oysters on a half-shell, we both had an Allen Brothers Steak with marrow bone as the topping, caesar salad, creme spinach and bread pudding for dessert, and each were the best we have ever tasted. Now, you might be thinking, maybe these guys don't eat at fine dinning places; our experiences include dining in 80 countries at some very fine establishments.. As for the price, we both thought, the price was in-line with the quality of food, drink, service, and ambiance ! read more

Amazing experience from beginning to end. Beautiful ambiance and a very welcoming atmosphere. The wait staff and the hosts up front were incredibly kind and attentive. Our table wasn't quite ready, so they had us relax on a comfortable couch in the bar area, which was such a nice touch. We started with drinks, my mocktail was delicious, and my husband loved his drink as well. Every dish we tried was fresh and absolutely amazing. The Caesar salad was a standout favorite. We also tried the shrimp, steak, Brussels sprouts, lobster mac and cheese, potatoes, and more... everything was so good. Highly recommend. We'll definitely be back! read more

A great new environment inside what was Rudy's Market, transforming to a lovely, service-focused restaurant Rudy's Prime Steakhouse. Not meat eaters, we still found plenty of options to enjoy from the Burrata, interestingly served with marinated artichokes and grilled bread. He had fried chicken, I had half baked chicken with spicy sauce served on side to lower the spice level for me. The creamy white cheese Mac was tasty but we prefer a cheddar blend. So let's start with the good. The service was great and the drinks were good, other than there were a few drinks that can't be specialized because they are premade. Now the bad and ugly. We ordered for food a shareable steak, asparagus and mushrooms. First, my diet doesn't allow me to have pepper so we asked for no pepper on the steak and for it to be rare. Well it came out with pepper and it was medium rare. Um $150 dollar steak and it came out wrong. Ok. But even worst is it was a poor choice of meat. Grizzle and no marble or fat. A steak should be marbled and juicy. I'd be ok if it was over cooked if it was good steak, it was not!!! Shame on this place. Then the asparagus. It was under cooked and not washed so I was eating dirt. Under cooked, dirty, and chard on the grill grossness!!! We left a note so the waiter would know about how bad this food was as we couldn't complain because we were with company who did want a seen because of her business in town but I told her that this review was going up. How horrible of place. No flavor, not able to make simple adjustments and doesn't know how to cook a steak. Even worst the food was cold!!!! I'm sorry but if I'm spending $300 on a meal for two and the other couple spent the same so $600 for four, it better be the best cut of meat, the tastiest food with amazing flavor and this place has none of that. Great restaurant. Enjoyed the ambiance. Service was fantastic. We tried the scallops, burrata, fish, NY strip steak, mac & cheese, and creamed spinach. I would highly recommend the scallops, Caesar salad to start. I really enjoyed the NY strip steak - cooked to perfection with amazing flavors. My fish - I thought it was cooked great but the sauce was not my favorite - it was a pesto based sauce and a little sour for my liking - my husband loved it though. For sides I would highly recommend the creamed spinach and mac n cheese. Both had a lot of flavor. I was skeptical to try the creamed spinach but I am so glad we did. NY strip ordered med came well done first potatoe ordered was tasteless so when new steak came ordered mash potatoes xtra hot came ice cold usually give a restaurant a second chance, especially when there's so many good reviews but then there's a lot of negative reviews. I know for sure. I'm not gonna give this place a second chance there's too many good restaurants that I get a guaranteed excellent steak and side dishes that should be cold or nicely chilled and items that need to be hot or extremely hot so sorry but look elsewhere if you're looking for a top-of-the-line Steakhouse. I think I saw 2 managers walking around but no one came to our table best thing in restarant was as our server. We came here for a double date and had an incredible experience from start to finish. Everything from the atmosphere to the service and food was top-notch. The vibe is classy and warm, perfect for a fun night out without feeling too formal. The food was fantastic across the board. We ordered the Caesar salad (fresh, crisp, and perfectly dressed), Rudy's cheeseburger, vodka pasta, lobster mac and cheese, crab arancini, sautéed shrimp, french fries with truffle aioli, Rudy's mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, brussels sprouts, and roasted mushrooms. Every single dish was delicious and clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. We also had the Allen Brothers Prime Filet and Piedmontese Tomahawk - both were beautifully cooked, super tender, and easily some of the best steaks we've had in a while. What really took the experience to the next level, though, was our server, Nathan. He was absolutely phenomenal. Not only was he friendly, knowledgeable, and super attentive, but he also took the time to plate our food at the table--a detail you don't see very often and one that made the night feel extra special. It felt like fine dining without any of the pretense. Nathan anticipated what we needed before we even asked, and he truly made us feel like VIPs. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate peanut butter cake, affogato, and carrot cake. All were rich, flavorful, and the perfect end to a perfect evening. Well, starting with the service, it is excellent! The ambiance is so-so. Comfortable but nothing extraordinary. My date and I dressed for an up-scale experience unnecessarily as most of the other patrons were in tee shirts and flannel shirts! Our server was very good and waited the table expertly! I believe his name was Thierry but did an excellent job of serving us! No bread was offered . . . When we arrived we were directed to the bar as the server meeting was still in progress - which was fine. We ordered two drinks that totaled almost $30! When we were led to our table we were given an explanation of the menu and time to select our meal choice. I ordered the ribeye and my date ordered the NY strip. Our sides were a Cesar Salad, roasted mushrooms and potato. I added an "enhancement " of a 4 oz. Lobster tail for an additional $32! The salad was so- so, the roasted mushrooms were rubbery, and the potato was "who cares!" The steaks were very good - flavorful and tasty. The lobster (lobstah,) was less than expected and the butter was not drawn but simply melted butter. We finished the evening with a desert of Banana Pudding recommended by the waiter and espresso. The banana pudding tasted like paste and the espresso was...espresso. I wouldn't go back to Rudy's . . .not unless they started offering a burger on the menu! Putting on a suit and expecting an upscale dinner experience that doesn't happen just pushes me over to Aurora on the Lake for a quality food and dining experience! A $400 experience is not what I'm looking for in fine dining when it doesn't equate. I can sit in the baseball crowd whenever . . . With a hot dog and a beer for $12! My husband and I couldn't wait to try Rudy's Prime Steakhouse, and we were not disappointed! We started with the Caesar salad, made with baby gem lettuce. The staff thoughtfully split the salad for us, accommodating my vegetarian preference by providing a balsamic dressing, since their traditional Caesar dressing has anchovies. This level of service was truly appreciated. For our main courses, we shared the Vodka Pasta and the Mushroom Pasta. Both dishes were so amazing that we finished every bite. My husband also ordered the lamb chops; while he found them good, they weren't quite his favorite. For dessert, we had the carrot cake. It was very good, but, I still prefer the version at Jay Alexander's. Sorry, Rudy's! The ambiance here is very elegant and inviting, which makes it a perfect spot for a date night. So, my wife and I went to Rudy's Steakhouse last night for happy hour. We switch back and forth from the Fed and Rudy's every other week. Last night I left Rudy's feeling genuinely disappointed and honestly a bit scammed. I expect higher prices at a steakhouse, but charging $52 for a Michter's Rye Old Fashioned is beyond excessive - It's unreasonable. What made the situation even worse is that I was never informed of the price, nor was it stated on the menu. Had I known, I never would have order it. Transparency matters, especially when you're charging that kind of premium for a single drink. It is hard to enjoy a night out when you feel taken advantage of, and it leave you questioning the integrity of the pricing overall. A great restaurant should make you want to come back - not make you double check you receipt in disbelief. read more

Love that this place is in our hometown. The size is perfect & love a steakhouse with an open kitchen. Reminds me of Steak 48 in Chicago. Steak was cooked perfect. Rudy's is the best and most delicious restaurant in Clarkston, hands down. We have been here many times, and have never been disappointed with the food or service ... whether sitting at the bar, the lounge, or a table in the dining area. Our favorite items are the creekstone filet, roasted carrots, Caesar salad, and carrot cake. Starting with the homemade sourdough bread and butter is a must! The whipped butter is ridiculously good. Make a reservation if you want to sit in the dining area. Even if it doesn't look busy... they seem to be really thoughtful about their service experience so aren't going to overload the staff. I was surprised my husband chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner as I am not a big steak person. I like beef prepared the slow cooked way, like braised short ribs or Osso Buco; imparting a much deeper flavor. Other than filet mignon and ribeye steaks, the choices on the dinner menu were somewhat limited; chicken, cod, salmon. I love seafood, so I decided on two appetizers as my entree instead. Crab arancini was very tasty, but could've had a bit more crabmeat. Hokkaido scallops were perfect. Husband 's filet was the best he'd ever had. Bone marrow was boring. Very delicious wedge salad. Tarteflette was bland and disappointing, I expected more flavor; but was greatly improved once we poured on some zip sauce. Affogato was outstanding. I was presented with a small carrot cake pop with a lit candle, which was a surprise. The cake pop was dipped in white chocolate that made it too sweet. But thank you! Service was wonderful, although we did feel slightly rushed. Ambiance was delightful. I thought the menu, especially the wine was a bit on the pricey side, which is why we'll probably not be back as often as we'd like. read more

I have dined here several times and always enjoyed the food. Tonight was our first time bringing our young children. I was so, so impressed with how they helped to make them comfortable and included in the dining experience. My 6 year old loved that. First visit and sat at the bar when opened at 4pm. Had a wonderful bartender named Gracie who did a wonderful job. Their in house crafted cocktails are wonderful and I had the oysters for an appetizer. Then had the octopus appetizer and mushrooms. Mushrooms were amazing and suggest giving customer a piece of bread to soak up the mushroom gravy. The octopus was a bit underwhelming. The octopus was delicious but got lost in the "salad" that it looked like it was presented in. The description didn't seem to indicate it would be in a salad form. Let the octopus speak for itself. My guy and I went to Rudy's based on the fact that it was named Detroit Hour restaurant of the year 2026. I will have to go back and read that review. We knew going in that the restaurant was pricey-to say the least. But for those prices, I hoped for a better experience. I did like the overall ambiance. The moodiness of the interior was nice in my way of thinking-my guy was not so impressed. The music that was piped in was heavy on the bass-don't think I ever heard a melody line in the hour and 1/2 that we were there. And why do restaurants make women walk the farthest to get to the bathroom?!? The happy hour cocktail I got was 13 bucks which leads me to ask what is the full price? The entire menu is ala carte which I expected since I glanced at the menu before going. So we both ordered steak-which we were both pleased with. The sides are all shareable which does help with the bottom line. We shared cesar salad which was your average salad. He ordered grilled mushrooms - which were chewy- and I ordered hasselback potatoes-again pretty average. We generally order a bottom of wine when we hit a high-end restaurant, but they were all out of reach. We both settled on a glass of wine. At the waiter's recommendation, we ordered the banana pudding for dessert. The banana pudding was at the very bottom of the glass with a thick whipped cream on the top. Once you got to the banana it was nice. You are not allowed to wear sports apparel or flip flops but if you want to wear your best flannel shirt and jogging pants, please, feel free!! We can say we have experienced Rudy's Steakhouse but we can also say we will not be back. read more

Nice food-not great, but good. Some food comes out not exactly as described on the menu. I have given up on American Wagyu. My Wagyu steak was okay, but not worth the price. I would definitely return, but I would stick with an aged steak. Service, mixologist, and ambiance are EXCELLENT. Rudy's Prime - Disappointing Experience Despite the Hype I was genuinely excited to try Rudy's Prime. Starting with the atmosphere, the modern industrial look is unique and refreshing--it's not something you see too often in restaurants and it fits the vibe they seem to be aiming for. Now for the food: I ordered the Rudy's Cheeseburger and the Rosewood Ranch Ribeye. The burger, priced at $18 and made with Wagyu beef, sounded promising. However, to my surprise and disappointment, it turned out to be a smash burger--a detail not mentioned on the menu. When you order a burger at a steakhouse, especially one featuring Wagyu beef, you expect a thick, juicy, flavorful patty. Unfortunately, this wasn't it. The smash style left it dry and lacking in flavor. It's also served a la carte--just the burger on a plain plate with no sides or garnish--which made it feel even more underwhelming. The steak was equally disappointing. Also served a la carte, it arrived on a bare plate with zero presentation. For an $80 steak, I expected more--maybe a sauce, garnish, or at least some plating creativity. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out closer to well-done. Still, I gave it a shot, only to find it just as flavorless as the burger. I also tried the Burnt Orange Manhattan. While it had decent flavor, it definitely wasn't worth the $18 price tag--especially when you can get a better cocktail for the same price right next door at The Fed. The only reason this review isn't a 1-star is because the service wasn't bad. But honestly, if you're planning to spend at this price point, you're much better off going to Hyde Park or Prime 29. And if you're in the mood for a proper steakhouse burger, check out Baeu's Grillery or Bill's in Bloomfield. The only thing Rudy's has going for it is that it's the only steakhouse in Clarkston. If they had any serious competition, they'd be out of business. read more

First time at Rudy's. Took my wife for her birthday, an amazing experience from start to finish. Stephen our server was personable, he was attentive without hovering and the rest of the staff took great care of us. Five Stars to Stephen for sure! We started with the Crab Arancini that was 5 stars all day long. We also tried the Sashimi, again, just amazing. For dinner I had the 14oz Rosewood Ranch Ribeye, was cooked perfectly and the crust on it was spot on. My wife had the Mushroom Pasta and she added shrimp, another winning plate filled with flavor. As far as sides we had the Grilled Broccolini and Mashed Potatoes, they did not disappoint. Wife had a Grey Goose Dirty Martini with house stuffed blue cheese olives, I closed the experience with an Old Fashioned (used Woodford Double Oak instead of the house Bullitt). Stephen surprised us at the end with the house made Carrot Cake for my wife's birthday, light and tasty way to end a fantastic meal. Highly recommend, while the price point is in the range you'd expect from a fine dining steak house, it was well worth the cost and we certainly will find our way the Rudy's again. read more

Went for the first time for my daughters bday. Everything was fantastic... from the service to the food and atmosphere. Top-notch experience. We tried several things (crab arancini, bread service - YUM, fried chicken, Hamachi - only complaint was there were a few pin bones but otherwise bursting with flavor, roasted chicken, burger (was a good burger but there are other things that shine), and sauteed shrimp). Also, we shared sides of Caesar salad - very unique and loved it, Brussels, and spinach. Drinks were very well made and balanced. The renovations are awesome and probably the best vibe in Clarkston. However, there's very little to absorb sound. It was busy and all four of us had difficulty hearing each other and our server. The side dishes and bread were very good. The entrees were below average with above average pricing. We could have had much better meals at much better pricing elsewhere.
