We were traveling through and tried this restaurant. Out of the 4 of us, only 1 liked the main part of their meal (hot dog). The beef brisket was mostly slimy fat - unlike any brisket I've had. The chicken wasn't good either. Of the sides (mac & cheese, cole slaw, sweet potato fries, corn bread), the only one that was good was the corn bread. I couldn't eat the brisket, and another of us couldn't eat the picked chicken sandwich. There were only 3 tables inside, one that sat 4 and 2 that sat 2. We were lucky the table of 4 was leaving as we arrived- I asked one of the two workers to clean the table so we could sit there. There were tablecloths on the table, I don't know how often they're changed. With it being over 100 degrees outside, the A/C inside wasn't set low enough to feel cool inside. If you're anywhere near Easton and craving legit BBQ, Rude BBQ absolutely delivers. I went with the BBQ sampler platter, which is the move if it's your first time. The brisket was tender with a solid smoke ring, the ribs had that perfect pull-off-the-bone bite, and the sausage brought the right amount of snap and seasoning. Every protein held its own -- no filler, no shortcuts. The sides were just as strong. Creamy mac & cheese, classic potato salad, and crispy onion rings that didn't feel greasy or heavy. Everything came out hot, fresh, and clearly made with intention. To top it off, I grabbed a spiked coffee, which somehow worked incredibly well with the BBQ -- bold, smooth, and a fun twist you don't see everywhere. From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed uninterested, unfriendly, and almost annoyed that customers were there. Getting attention was difficult, and simple requests felt like an inconvenience. This was absolutely awful! I wouldn't recommend to anyone! Turkey looks and taste like lunchmeat. - yes I heard they "shave it". It STILL tastes like awful lunchmeat, not even good lunchmeat. Salmon tasted old. My son couldn't eat the pork sandwich and couldn't get the mac and cheese down it was so watery and yucky. Service- was polite enough, really, while I didn't love ordering at the counter and then sitting for her to bring to us, not a big deal, but we had little kids and wanted to order appetizers and literally no one was there and she still wouldn't come to us. Yet expected a minimum of 20% tip. And I say expect because, she forgot the order of fries, she forgot I said spicy sour cream on the side of nachos, when I had to BACK up again after 4 trips to her, I clicked "no tip" for the $5 fries. I mean, she forgot it, I was going to get it, I saw her stop in her tracks when she saw that on the screen, and the look on her face was of shock and horror. And her demeanor totally changed, her tone was short, she was no longer smiling. I'm sorry, you forgot this, you aren't even bringing it to me. Tried dessert and was "ok" but I'd expect my cobbler to not be the same bread pudding but with apples on it. And I did tip 20% on my now 6th trip up there simply because I didn't want anything to happen to my food. I've heard from community to not go there, but options were limited. Service is impersonal, the ambiance is okay, is very small and they have big fans to sit outside, way too hot to be sitting outside, but is okay. The food is extremely salty, it lacks flavors, it is like no inspiration or happiness on the prepared food. It feels like toss this there and that and serve it. Very expensive for the kind of food served, I tried once and decided to give them a second chance, sad that neither times we couldn't enjoy a good taste or BBQ. It's been a while since I've been to Rude BBQ, and just happened to be nearby at lunch time, if you've never been, you're missing out! You can tell there's some good things happening inside as you approach as you can smell the smoke! There are some seats outside and only about 20 seats inside, but don't let that dissuade you. The pork, brisket, and chicken are all great. If you can't decide get a platter with a bit of each. The portions are good sized and the sides are delicious. I almost always get the pulled pork and use their Carolina style sauce. Mmmm good! Get yourself some! read more

Well the name is a bit misleading, because they certainly weren't rude there! I got the jack & cherry coke slushee which was good but sooo filling. I wish I could've taken the rest to go. My wife picked this place while I was driving and she nailed it yet again. We got there right when they opened so we had it pretty much to ourselves. This place was excellent Southern BBQ! My wife had a pastrami on rye and really enjoyed it. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was very good too. The various sauces were excellent and a great selection of styles. The spicy sauce was my personal favorite. The most delicious item we both ordered was the collard greens! WOW! Maybe THE best collards out we've ever tasted! Top-quality BBQ with drinks, attitude and wit! I had a brief business meeting in Easton, and wanted lunch before heading back across the Bay Bridge. I found Rude BBQ via their great reviews. What I found was beyond the usual BBQ place. The menu is carefully thought out. Aside from the usual brisket, pulled pork, chow in and ribs, they also have amazing pit beef. Their sample platter is the best place to start, but looked to heavy for me. I opted for the Pit Beef Sandwich with their crab chips. From the reactions of the diners around me, the "World-Famous Onion Rings" deserve their billing. Paired with their Smoked Ketchup (just one of their bespoke sauces), they vanished as quickly as they appeared. They also have a liquor license, and in addition to the usual suspects, serve signature "Mason jar" cocktails and freezes, along with choice microbrews from all over Maryland. They made their bones by delivering - literally - their excellent food in Talbot County during the COVID lockdown, which occurred right after they had opened. Now, Rude BBQ is part of a growing portfolio of unique properties, including Rude Burgers across the street, and Rise Up Coffee Roasters down the block. I've had a LOT of BBQ in my life, and I live in a BBQ-rich area. But Rude BBQ makes me want to cross the Bay Bridge again. A lot more often. read more

I'm not a barbecue expert, but neither am I a barbecue snob. We managed to try a little bit of everything thanks to the sampler plate and six (!) different sauce bottles available on the table, and while I have a hard time classifying this place -- they had Carolina and Memphis - style sauces -- I think that's perhaps the point. The spicy sauces were unique -- we spent a long time trying to put our finger on the magic extra ingredient and really couldn't quite come up with it other than that it was not excessively sweet, wasn't that hot on the old Scoville scale, but had a pretty interesting combination of flavors. The sweet sauce was just that, but just a tetch too sweet. I wasn't enraptured by the cole slaw, but I appreciate they do something original with it, and my two dining partners thought it was great. We also noshed on the mac and cheese and kale sides, the former also a nice traditional side with something we couldn't quite put our finger on in the spicing, and the latter a nice update of the traditional greens. The food -- it's BBQ, it's a prepared food -- came out right away, and that's probably a good recommendation for a takeout place. We ate in (it's tiny) but got to linger over our beers. I can imagine in warmer weather it would have been great to hang around outside. It's my first time in Easton MD and Rude BBQ is one of the places the hotel recommended. I was told they had really good brisket. The person taking the order suggested I try the sampler platter. The sampler comes with chicken, pork, spare ribs and brisket. I added a side of collard greens and coleslaw. The collard greens are soft, but not too soft with great flavor. I couldn't get enough! The coleslaw had a slight vinegar flavor to it. Very good! The pork was pulled and even though it was an little dry (which was at my request) it gave me an opportunity to taste the various sauces. The spicy was my favorite, of course!! But their mustard bbq sauce was also amazing. The brisket was perfect!! The flavor wasn't too Smokey, but it had a nice bark and great flavor. It needed NO bbq sauce. The ribs were tender and the meat fell off the bone with a bite. Just right. The chicken was served wet with some kind of sauce that tasted like it had a hint of apple juice and/or citrus in it. The chicken just fell off the bone. If I ever come back to Easton, or really anywhere near it, I'm going to come back here. I don't have 5 stars very often, but this place was - in my opinion, that good! read more

Staff was really kind and quick to bring out our food. If I were to go again, I'd tell myself to sit inside. We opted for outdoor seating in the dead of summer...lots of flies. They did put out giant fans to try to combat this which I appreciated. The 3 stars comes from the food itself. It was on the drier side which is always the tough thing about BBQ. The portion was large, which was a plus. I asked for coleslaw on top of the sandwich (I guess not a common ask?) And it was alright, not the best coleslaw I ever had but not bad. The cornbread muffin was really good and the baked beans reminded me more of chili than baked beans but I enjoyed them. My dad got the brisket cheesesteak and said he liked it. I never could imagine that a highly regarded BBQ establishment could actually make the two worst tasting, uninspired sandwiches I've ever had. Every single item was delicious- tender, well seasoned- just perfect. They have their own interpretation of baked beans that was just wonderful, even the corn bread was great. I admit, that when it comes to barbecue, I'm a bit of a self-professed snob. I've sampled all types of BBQ cuisines from Kansas City, Memphis, Alabama, North and South Carolina, California, and of course, Texas including several years of living in Austin. I used to own a Big Green Egg where I would spend all day slowly smoking meats. Unfortunately, like with most things we once enjoyed in our youth, I no longer have the opportunity or time to spend 10-12 hours sitting around and drinking beer with my friends, while tending to a fatty brisket. So I'm always on the lookout for good 'cue in the DC area. That's why I was excited when I looked up the BBQ Joint on my Yelp app as a recommended place to check out. I should've heeded some of the negative reviews, because I also had the some of the same complaints with my meal. We ordered the sampler platter since the menu clearly states it's enough to feed "two people" and there was a good variety of meats listed. Well, the description should be amended to say "two people who aren't that hungry" since the portion sizes were on not what I considered to be generous. Two skimpy slices of brisket, a scoop of pulled pork, a 1/4 piece of chicken, and two (not so meaty) ribs barely satiated our hunger at dinner time. Oddly, I also found the temps on the meat to be a shade below room temperature bordering on lukewarm, especially the brisket. Texture of the brisket was okay, but other than a salt/pepper rub, didn't really have much flavor. The ribs were perhaps the most disappointing, since the waitress raved about the "famous" dry rub which you could also purchase, if so desired. To me (anyway) the rub was waaaay too sweet. I definitely detected salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, and other spices, but also too much brown sugar. I've already noted in other reviews how I believe how US restaurants are starting to over use sugar, corn syrup, and other sweeteners as the predominant flavor profile. But the overly sweet rub aside, the ribs didn't have much meat on them and I didn't pick up any deep smoke flavor. Chicken was okay with a semi-crispy skin, while the pulled pork was the best thing on the plate. The pulled pork combined with the slaw made for good table side sandwiches. A sampler platter with two drinks (iced tea and soda) tax and tip came to a little under $35. Not outrageous, but IMHO, also would make me consider if I'd return if I was in the area again since I didn't find the overall experience worth the money. read more

We've gotten takeout from this restaurant several times and generally find it to be good. However today they really lived up to their name - RUDE. We ordered one of the family meals to go and when we got home discovered we were missing part of the order. I tried calling several times but they didn't answer the phone so my husband drove back to the restaurant. When he got there they argued with him repeatedly but finally gave him some brisket and ribs. We never did get the pulled pork that was supposed to come with our order. The food was just ok tonight but the attitude from the staff is what really earned this one-star rating. read more

It's a stretch of the word "barbecue" to say that this is a BBQ joint; the pulled pork was flavorless without sauce. I ordered a pound of pulled pork, and while I didn't have a scale, I'm positive it wasn't a full pound. $25 after tip! Wholly disappointed in the food. We were looking for the restaurant on the corner when we saw Rude right beside it. The inside is small, but a gentleman was right there greeting people and taking orders. No seating inside, just outside. The weather was nice, so that was fine. The food was brought out to the table in to-go containers. Sampler platter with white meat (ribs, lean brisket, chicken breast). Our sides were French fries and collards. The seasoning on the ribs were great. The brisket was cooked perfectly. The chicken was ok. The fries were seasoned well and the collards were good and tender. We got 4 different kinds of sauce and they were all good. The lemonade was on the tart side so I didn't enjoy it. Pineapple upside down cake with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was really good. I liked the cake with the cream, but it was just ok by itself. I would definitely return if I am ever in the area again. read more
