Wow, what a wonderful place! The owner George was so kind and considerate, and Simin was so creative with options for my thinning hair. She told me that they even help men. Sumin took her time and has such an expertise with styling "toppers" (not full wigs), which works for me since my hair is growing back, but just not full-looking (especially at my crown). I was recently diagnosed and started chemo. I had no knowledge about wigs. I walked into Ruby's and was greeted by Janice. She was so lovely, took her time to explain about synthetic hair wigs, etc. She assured me this was going to be great! She took pictures of my hair and we ordered a wig in my style. My wig came in and I took my friend too for advice. Quite honestly I was really nervous. The color of the hair of the wig matched mine. Janice trimmed the wig to my head and neck it looked, felt, and reacted so close to my own hair. The part of the hair looked natural too! It was magical! I can't thank Janice enough for her patience, and knowledge she gave me. My entire family and friends can't get over how natural it looks! I was able to find a wigs that looks just like my hair should look if I didn't have alopecia. Everyone I know thought it was my natural hair and that I just styled it differently. I've had some serious illnesses that have made my hair fall out. I went to Ruby's to look at some wigs and Janis helped me select which I wanted. They are great with helping you select a flattering style and color. They have a LOT of selection. I got a hand tied wig, a medium blonde color with lots of beautiful highlights. They don't rush you, they really want you to get the best wig for you. Janis had over 30 (?) years experience working with Ruby's if I remember correctly. He has been helping people choose wigs for many years and is your best choice in Houston. He was very patient and let her try on so many types and styles of wigs including the baseball caps with hair which I thought were pretty cool and easy to put on and go. He encouraged her to buy two wigs so one could be getting cleaned and drying while wearing the other one and they would last longer having two of them. Best of all is their positive energy, sympathy, and support during the process and desire to build an ongoing relationship with their clients. Once I started losing my hair, they were there to shave it for me and take pictures to celebrate my beautiful bald head. I tried some high end places close to medical center but didn't find something that looked more natural on me and I was little frustrated. My husband did some research online and suggested to try this place . They have tons of synthetic wigs on stock for very reasonable prices compare to similar wigs I tried at stores close to medcenter for almost double the price. This is a little gem of a shop located in Spring Branch. You might want to double check the hours before you go as they are closed on some days. Cheryl is very knowledgeable and is totally committed to helping you find the right color, fit, etc. I got a topper and it was very difficult to get the right color so I was in the shop for quite some time. I would recommend making an appointment as the shop is quite bustling with people constantly coming and going. Cheryl also told me she could "make" a topper out of any of my old wigs that just didn't work anymore. I plan on pursuing this as I didn't know that was possible! read more
