Located in an established strip mall by a high-traffic intersection at Kingston Pike and S. Peter's, Greens and Grains is easy to get in and out of with plenty of parking. The interior is spotlessly clean (including the restrooms!) and comprised of two connected dining areas and kitchens. One has a trendy, airy feel with cool green and white tones, while the other is darker with metal and wood elements, a game area, and a large open grill/prep area. The reason for the two different vibes was not immediately clear to me. Actually, it never became more clear during the hour or so I spent there, but I can appreciate a good mystery. This is NOT a fast food joint. In fact, it is slow. Agonizingly slow if you're in a hurry. This is a place to come when you are with a group of people you find highly entertaining (or when you heft along a great book) and don't mind waiting. After ordering two sandwiches and sides, my friend and I waited almost 20 minutes for our food to appear at our table. The macaroni salad was pleasantly flavorful, without the overcooked noodles and runny sauce so often found with this deli counter staple. The turkey and Brie was also good and grilled to buttery-crisp perfection. The sandwich, side, and a drink cost just under $20, so it's neither bargain-priced nor exotic, but fresh ingredients are not cheap. Only one employee was working in each of the two halves of the restaurant, so I imagine if they want to speed up their service, they are going to need to schedule more people. The two employees were both delightfully friendly, though, and they aren't just paying lip service to customer service, a goal plainly outlined on all the napkin dispensers and evidenced by their actions. Despite the slow service, I'm giving them a 5 for their dedication to quality ingredients and excellent customer service. I hope they make it for the long haul, and I'll definitely be back soon.

We started with the pimento dip, the menu states it comes with tortilla chips, but the chef has changed to use fresh homemade potato chips instead which both my wife and I prefer. It was really good. Next, we received our main courses. I ordered the steak, which comes with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. My wife ordered the salmon, which comes with rice. The steak was so good, it is now tied with the best steak I have ever had in my life. It was cooked perfectly, but what set it apart is that it was the most tender, melt in your mouth steak I have ever had. I don't know how they can get a steak that tender, but it was amazing. To be honest, my friend and I were scared to go to this RT because we've have bad experinces with two other RT's in our area. Negative on-line reviews for each location don't help either. We were totally prepared to walk out if we saw the salad bar wasn't up to par but we wanted a salad bar so bad, we took our chances. RT's Thurs special we couldn't pass up. They were offering a smash burger w/ fries or tots and unlimited salad bar for a killer price. The actual price goes up the bigger the burger. It's not on the menu but I saw it on their website. I got the double smash burger with all the usual toppings for under $11! Woah! A lot less than eating fast food. My friend got the single. I'm a fry snob and the fries were excellent and she liked the tots. The burger wasn't bad! Good flavor but a tad on the dryer side but I wasn't complaining. I ate every single bite. The salad bar was clean and all of the components were fresh and full. I'm kicking myself for not remembering our servers name. She was great. She had a fun, dry sense of humor. We were dissapointed that we were so full, we only made one trip to the salad bar one time. I'm glad we took our chances. I can honestly say I'd go back. read more

Today I had one of the worst meals ever served at Ruby Tuesdays. First, my coffee cup came with a full edge of someone's lipstick. Secondly, the flies swarmed my head and table to which I had to shoo them away. I ordered the "new" shrimp entrée which was $12.99. It was from their full course menu. I could of gotten a better meal at Captain D's down the street. The shrimp were the size of brine shrimp with extra batter so all you had was...batter. When I peeled back the coating the shrimp was white and appeared undercooked. When I say the size of the shrimp was the size of my little fingernail, that was no exaggeration. I left more then half on my plate..no carry out box please! oh and yes..they forgot to serve the rolls. read more

Let's start with the weight staff, they were great, and they got a seated right away, even though we were a few minutes late for our reservation. The food was great, and I mean, that genuinely, my pork chop was very thick, but it was still cooked completely and wasn't dry. My guest had a New York strip cooked well and I will tell you that's a difficult task because her steak was not dry at all. The sides were immaculate. I will say that the marmalade that came with my pork chop was not to my liking, I think it was house made, and it was lacking compared to the marmalade. I grew up with. But that said the cinnamon apples were excellent, the sweet potato was amazing, and my guests fully loaded baked potato was perfect. The ambience is a little bit in industrial, I'll grant you that because it's kind of cookie cutter based on the fact that they have to furnish a number of these restaurants. But let's get real for a moment, the price that we paid was en par for the experience. To use a cliché, don't go to a waffle house and expect cheesecake factory experiences. The same thing can be said for The Chop House. If you come looking for a five star steak house experience, you're setting yourself up for failure. But then again you're not paying for a five star steakhouse experience. Be kind to the staff, they know where they work, and they work very hard to make your experience as pleasant as it possibly can be. So don't be a jerk and enjoy yourself!
