I've waited to post this review but I recently went to a different holistic dentist and I'm realizing how HORRIBLE of an experience I had at Dr Dollin's office. I left crying every single time i had an appointment. She was so aggressive in her diagnosis and everything was so pushed. Like "if you don't do this right now, you'll need a root canal" and I got an opinion at a different office right after and they assured me NOTHING was that urgent. and even though she quoted me over $10k she never offered ANY discount or relief even as I cried to them. She over treats and charges a ridiculous amount. Absolute SCAM of pricing. I felt so taken advantage of. Please please be cautious with this business. I would NOT recommend. read more

I am so sorry to have to write this review. I was so excited when I first found Dr. Ruby's practice as it stated she was a Biological dentist. She is a nice person, but the quality of her work is questionable. She placed a crown on one of my teeth that was supposed to last for a year minimum and it popped off the next day! They reaffixed it and assured me it would last for a year or two, through Invisalign treatment. It popped off two months later. When advised of this, they responded that it was my fault- grinding my teeth. I had informed them that I grind my teeth at night! I was never offered a night guard. Another irritating thing is the wait. Every time i showed up for a scheduled appointment I still had to wait an hour to get in. Every appointment took a whole day. read more

I am so incredibly disheartened. I thought I had found my forever dentist. Dr. Dollins swore she knew all about proper bite/TMJ and she did my upper and lower partial dentures. I saw Ettese Biological Dentistry two weeks ago and they would not take me as a patient BECAUSE they said I HAD to see a Prosthodontist!! They said No general dentist UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE should ever do partial dentures.They said having a general dentist do them would be like seeing a Cardiologist when you really needed a lung specialist!! My bite has been off severely ever since the dentures were made. I complained to no avail. The partial dentures popping off the claps while eating was BEYOND UNNERVING!!!! The CT scan completed by Ettse proved how bad my bite was. Exactly where I said it was off was precisely what the scan showed. All biting was on the upper left and front where one of the clasps has broken two times before because it was getting too much pressure!!! Now that I am leaving her practice I will go into detail about things I was very upset about and said very little about mostly because it would have done NO GOOD. When Dr. Dollins was replacing crowns she would leave me for up to an hour to get numb while she worked on another patient and then had to re-numb me which made my kidneys ache being I am very sensitive to too much numbing medication. Also, I always had to wait an hour to an hour and a half to see her. One time it was so long of a wait, I lost singing and speech students (because I could not get back to Oceanside quickly enough due to the long wait) which cost me hundreds being I make a hundred an hour. They gave me a financial discount on the partial dentures because I had a limited amount of credit to use. I thought how very kind, turns out their DISCOUNT was MORE money than the Prosthodontist charges for their upper and lower partial dentures! Dr. Dollin's emax crowns are $1,000 more per crown and build up combined than my new Prosthodontist's emax crowns. read more

Wow! I finally found a biological dentist near me. What a blessing, or so I thought. Ruby Dollins, DDS', husband, Kris, works the front desk. Most of my communication with this office has been through text messaging, which I still consider a most impersonal and unprofessional way of communication. Their son works there, and seems to actually care. The cleaning lady was also very helpful and gentle; she gets a 5 star. And I do want to thank you, Ruby, for educating me on distilled water and a copper tongue scraper. After the x-rays of my teeth were taken, and your son did his evaluation, did you know the first thing you said to me as you came in was an order? The order was that I need to wear a retainer. Did you know I received no greeting? Did you know I had to inquire why you would bring up retainer as you offered no reason and all I could think of were my two teeth missing a big chunk out of them and how is a retainer supposed to help that? Did you know I had an appointment set for Dec. 09, 2023 for ozone therapy for my upper visible tooth as we agreed upon during the initial exam? Did you know I rescheduled? Did you know the reply was not a new date for the appointment, but a text message stating something along the lines of: Dentist Ruby had changed her mind, she does want to perform the agreed upon service and instead is referring me out to a non- holistic dentist regarding extraction, or I can go to Arizona if I want, or anyone else of my choice, and that Ruby will not see me until I go see someone else? Did you know I offered to pay for a visit so I could speak face to face with Ruby so I could have an explanation? Yes, I lost confidence in your office's ability to care about me. I have anxiety at the dentist from other offices but here they seriously made me feel so comfortable, offered me blankets and let me try different pillows. This place is very nice but customer service leaves leaves much to desire. Pricey. My son had a teeth cleaning and I went across the street to sit in a bench while I waited since reception for my cell was not good in the facility. I called multiple times to inform the faculty that I was just across the street and no one answered. When I went in there was no receptionist to greet people when coming in but I could hear her laughing and talking with someone in the back. A man walked in and waited at the front desk for about 10 minutes and left due to no one coming to the front. My son ended up finishing his teeth cleaning and we left. My ex insists that we have my sons teeth cleaned there otherwise we'd take our business else where. read more

My 8-year old daughter went to a regular pediatric dentist and was told she will need one silver/mercury filling, so I decided that we will find a holistic dentist instead, because I didn't want her to have this toxic metal in her mouth. So, I was very happy when I found Dr. Dollins at Bel Villaggio Dental. I'm grateful to all the holistic doctors out there. We are full-time RV family and went to several holistic dentists across the country! My daughter has been to dentists before and was never scared, she is a very brave girl. She needed 7 fillings Dr. Dollins said, instead of just one as her regular dentist said and would be sitting in a chair for a long time (she would do 6 fillings in one day!) I was going to stay near her for the procedure as she has the least anxiety when she can see me and hear me. But at this office I was asked to leave 3 times until I gave in and went to a room nearby. My daughter was doing really well, being a wonderful patient until I heard her jumping out of the chair panicked, I ran to her and she threw up into my arms, I took her to the bathroom where she continued to puke, then started coughing and crying and saying her lungs hurt really bad and she can't breath. Eyes really red. I got very scared, nurse came in and said that "she breathed in ozone, it's gonna pass soon". Ozone?! First of all, I was never told she will be treated with ozone and second, if I was there I would have definitely made sure that she did not breath this toxic gas. My daughter kept coughing, I took her outside to breath some fresh air. She was crying and saying that she doesn't want to go back in, she just wants to go home. But the fillings were not in yet. She still had to come back. I talked her into going back, she sat down in the dental chair again, still upset and hurting, holding on to my hand for dear life, asking me to promise that I will stay with her. First thing that doctor said when she came back was "Ok, it's time for mom to leave". How insensitive can a person be?! I replied that I'm staying and I don't care about their policies. My daughter needs me. She is scared because her lungs are hurting and it is a very scary experience. If she hasn't been scared of dentists before, now she certainly will be. Dr. Dollins said "there is no need to be so upset. Do you feel tickling in your lungs, Miriam?" And my daughter burst out: "No, I don't feel tickle, I feel pain." I said that she is a very tough girl, she falls, she doesn't cry, only if she is really hurting she cries. So, finally after this, doctor said to bring me a chair and I sat down next to my daughter. Her fillings were put in and we headed home. All I asked was to be with my elementary school-aged child to make sure she has a good experience and follows all the instructions. But doctor "wanted her privacy" with the patient. So, here is our story of how that went. Parent's wishes must be respected. I know my daughter and what's best for her, I know how to make sure that she pays attention (with a movie going and her being in earphones is not the best idea to pour ozone into her mouth!) So, for parents out there who consider taking their children there, some suggestions: do not let yourself get bullied if you know your child needs you and make sure they are not breathing during ozone treatment. My daughter's lungs hurt all day, only next morning she got better. And Dr. said "ozone is only not safe for lungs and eyes" I was like, lungs is the most important organ! If you can't breath, you die! Also I read that ozone lung damage occurs even from short exposure and can lead to respiratory infections. Great thing to read during Covid times! Now my daughter will be at greater risk for getting severe covid? Anyways, to finish this up, we will never go back. Because parents need to be respected and when you hurt someone don't try to diminish it. The biggest mistakes Dr. Dollins made were not allowing me to be with my daughter, not telling that she will be treated with ozone ahead of time and not making sure that my daughter pays attention when she was pouring ozone. I'm adding to this review after reading other patient's reviews that most likely Dr. Dollins drilled most of my daughter's teeth unnecessarily. As her regular dentist who did x-rays only a month ago said she only needed one filling. She drilled 5 more teeth and poisoned my daughter with ozone unnecessarily and charged me $3,000 for that. I went here because I was looking for a local holistic dentist to fill a cavity I had. I had seen two other dentists within the month and both told me I had one cavity on a back molar. Both did x-rays (which I sent to Dr Dollins) and full mouth exams. Well somehow I grew 4 cavities overnight including one on a veneer! I had literally seen my primary dentist the week before. She wanted to charge me $650 per tooth (not covered under insurance.) She is a complete scam artist. Save yourself time and money and go see another dentist. Most dentists don't use mercury anymore anyway and that's really the only thing you have to worry about. read more

She said my son had 6 cavities. Got really unfriendly after I said I was going to see if I could heal some. Pretty much ignored my presence the whole time. Sent me to the waiting room during an x-ray. Never came out with my son to speak with me and never sent the x-rays as she was supposed to. Went to see my regular dentist and my son had 1 cavity. My friend also took her son. She told her the same. Friend didn't have insc so she said she was going to have to see someone else because she couldn't afford to pay for that. Saw another dentist and her son didn't have any. I have heard this from other women as well. Unfortunate Dr. Dollins gets away with it. Seems to be a common practice amongst dentistry. Dr. Dollins and her associates are very kind & accommodating, and I love that they use herbal rinses and tooth polish instead of chemically-riddled formulas. Their all-natural approach is the reason I wanted to try them. They also seemed very thorough in their examinations and analysis of my teeth/mouth. I have very healthy teeth and gums, but a messed-up bite that probably requires braces and a night guard to prevent me from grinding. I also needed 2 small cavities filled. The reason I'm only giving them 2 stars: She tried to up-sell me EVERYTHING in the book, giving me the scare-you talk if I didn't get it all done immediately. She told me I need: - Laser therapy on the gums near each cavity ($150 per tooth) - Cavity filling ($40 per tooth co-pay) - A night guard ($65 co-pay) - Invisalign ($6,000) - A retainer (covered) - A Rotadent toothbrush ($130) - (even though I have a Sonicare already) I went to Dr. Andy Arriola at Winchester Dental Group for a second opinion, as I don't have a spare $8,000 lying around. He took a look at my mouth and here's what he recommended: - Laser therapy would ruin my very healthy gums, and simply pulling the gums back would give him plenty of space to address the entire problem. - Getting my bite addressed is important, but not immediately. He sells Invisalign in his office, but recommended I see an orthodontist for the best treatment option. - Rotadent is for people with bad gums, sensitive teeth, etc. Sonicare is the best option for my healthy mouth. - A Night Guard is needed, but because my insurance will only cover one a year, he said I should see the Ortho before I order one in case it interferes with what the Ortho recommends. He was HONEST, GENTLE, KIND, and talked me through the whole procedure. His staff was sweet, genuine, and worked to truly help me instead of sell me. I say - GO TO WINCHESTER DENTAL GROUP! read more

Was very hesitant to post this, but after dental work done by Dr. Dollins KEEPS falling out, one after another, I feel compelled to help other people from wasting time and LOTS of money. As did others listed here, I went to Dr. Dollins and trusted her with getting my mouth all updated and she replaced old metal work with what I'd hoped was newer, better, safer, stronger materials. I figured I was paying quite a bit more, but was getting better dentistry and materials. I spent thousands and thousands of dollars and thought I had made a good decision for myself. This could not have been further from the truth. After the 1st piece fell out and I had to spend more to replace it, I knew something was fishy. Then the second piece popped out and I was outta there! I'm now on my 4th piece that has broken or fallen out. Basically everything she put in has either broken, or fallen out. I have gone there for more than a dozen times over the years and I have always been happy with the procedures. I think Dr Dollins is very talented and knowledgable. Holistic dentistry is not popular among the dental community since this is a specialization and can be quite expensive. The flip side to that is you're saving money on medical doctors down the road because the approach addresses the relationship of your teeth and gums to the rest of your body. They do not use mercury fillings, fluoride, and they follow mercury removal protocol. I have always had weird headaches when I had mercury fillings but once they were removed, I have not had those headaches again. The staff are amazing especially the RDA Cris, very light hands. read more

Total Rip Off. After spending $50,000 for a complete mouth restoration job a couple of years ago, the teeth that were never suppose to stain are now turning yellow. Although she charged me for crowns all done at the same time, they do not match in color. I told her this as soon as the work was done; she said they looked fine. I think my bottom teeth are a different color because she used a cheaper material and charged me the higher price. My husband had crowns done by her and they keep falling out. The last straw was when after spending thousands of dollars, her assistant - Chris laughed at me when I told her the rotodent toothbrush I bought there was defective and I needed it replaced. She told me to do it myself. Seriously? You are going to loose a good client like myself over a $12 replacement head? After this kind of treatment, and quoting my husband $2000 for another crown, we are done. I'm just sorry I was so stupid to spend as much time and money there in the first place. Terrible experience. Don't go here...I returned to my Doctor in San Diego and was informed that most of the work Dr. Dollins recommended was not needed. The crowns and veneers that I did have doneby my doctor in San Diego did at a fraction of the cost and he did better work. Dr Dollins could not get me numb even after several injections, she could not find the trigeminal nerve that is needed to numb the back tooth, so the crown she did was very painful and it never did sit right and I had pain for 6 mos to a year after the work was done. I was refereed here to have my mercury amalgam fillings removed, but she had a hard time with the rubber dam and it fell off during the procedure. She however, continued to use the hand piece and the old amalgams went down my throat so I was ingesting them. I kept pointing out the need to the rubber dam the best I could and she ignored me. She has this state of the art set up to see the work on a screen as she is pointing out what is needed that lures you to think she is a qualified biological dentist. Well unfortunate for me I found out the hard way it was just a ploy to get you to get extensive work. When I returned to my dentist in San Diego, I was so relieved that I did not need 4 root canals , extractions and crowns that she said were needed. Save yourself don't go here!!! Buyer Beware I recently moved to Temecula and was referred to Dr. Dollins by a friend. I was excited about her being a biological dentist with a holistic approach. I verified with the receptionist that my dental insurance was accepted. Surprisingly Dr. Dollins examined my teeth before they were cleaned. Her scare tactics initially worked. She said I'd need 2 cleanings as my gums were in horrible shape and she could see that one of my teeth had 2 cracks. This tooth has a large silver filling (done over 40 years ago) . She said the filling had separated from the tooth it and had to be removed and replaced and I might need a crown. I was having an intermittent minor ache around that tooth but in other parts of my mouth as well. With a history of grinding I wasn't alarmed before the appointment. Dr Dollins said that was a definite sign of cracks. After feeling my stomach hit the floor, I recovered and said ok. My last cleaning was May 30 almost 5 months ago. I typically get cleanings every 4 months so I was only 1 month overdue and couldn't believe my gums were that bad. The hygienist was very nice and seemed competent but she conceded after working on me for a while that in fact she could have completed the cleaning but there was no time. Her water instrument kept leaking and she ran out of water which needed to be refilled. I was very annoyed that I needed to come for the second cleaning just because sufficient time was not allotted for me. Bleeding was nominal and my gums are fine. Upon checking out after the cleaning, which was $129, I scheduled the 2nd cleaning and am told that if I want Dr Dollins to do the dental work it would be $650 for the removal of old filling and insertion of new material and the crown if needed would be $2000. By the way none of her work is covered under insurance which infuriated me as they had verified my coverage before I came to the office. But if I'd like to have the work done by the other dentist in the office it would be covered as his protocols fall under standard insurance guidelines. The cost is only $112.00 and they were going let me know how much a crown would be if the other dentist did it. The uneasiness I felt in my stomach did not go away. I called my dentist in Florida who had examined me in May and was told 2 cleanings sounds crazy because I always practiced good oral hygiene. He was very skeptical about the cracks. He recommended Dr. Matt Nelson in Murrieta whom he knew of from the Seattle Study Club, a group of dentists who share best practices and put on conferences to further each other's education in Dentistry across the country. I immediately cancelled my appointments at Dollins office. I visited Dr Nelson this week and in fact will need the 2nd cleaning because the job just wasn't completed. He examined my teeth, did a bite test (which Dollins didn't do) and concluded I do not have cracks and need no work done at this time. He was mystified by Dr. Dollins diagnosis and told me that intermittent aches that move around are usually due to grinding or clenching and disturbing a large filling is risky as the tooth could very likely crack if touched which would almost certainly require a crown. I will never recommend Dr Dollins and am thrilled to have found Dr. Nelson. read more

Over the years I have been to many dentists. I had all of the mercury fillings removed from my teeth in 1984. I had 3 root canals and a couple of teeth that needed attention.and was looking for a biological dentist. I knew the root canals had become infected and that I would need extraction and reconstruction. I also had veneers on my upper front teeth that were 15+ years old and I was concerned about those as well. Dr. Dollins and her team laid out a plan. I was referred to an oral surgeon for root canal removal then underwent a series of cleanings to clean up the infection and restore the gums to a healthy state. The level of competence caring and excellence in this dental office exceeds anything I have ever experienced. We are now in the process of restoring my upper teeth including the veneers. I feel so much better and that in part is due to the detoxification that has occurred as a result of this treatment. Every tooth is connected to an organ and as a doctor it was important to me to work with a dentist who knew the value of making sure everything in the mouth is in order so that the rest of the body functions properly.
