I'm not sure if this was a one-off, but I've ordered their steak many times before--usually in a quesadilla or Cali burrito--and never had an issue. Today, however, the steak tasted completely different. The flavor and texture were very similar to pulled pork, which immediately seemed off. I called the restaurant to mention it, and while they said they don't carry pork, the representative dismissed my concern and told me what I was describing was "fake". I even asked whether there had been any recent changes to the steak or how it's prepared, but there was no attempt to investigate or work with me on the issue. My wife took a bite as well and agreed something wasn't right. I didn't finish the food because I wasn't comfortable risking it. Between the unusual taste and the way my concern was handled, I won't be returning to Rubio's. This experience was bad enough for me to make a Yelp account and write my first review ever. read more

I placed a take out order. Unfortunately my mom has some health issues I am currently her caregiver so my father who is 80 years old went to go pick up the order. The entire order came wrong and when I called to discuss the issue the manager, Jessica proceeded to tell me that she and her personally packed the order and that she and the staff made sure it was correct completely argued with me about what I am literally looking at. She has given me a full refund (btw saw the snarky incorrect comment on that) , but I feel that that's because she knows that she will be getting in trouble for this the way that she spoke to me, told me that she personally packed. Ordered the Mexican sweet corn bowl with shrimp. Absolutely outstanding. I got extra onion and cilantro from the abundant salsa bar. The lady at the cash register's name is Patty and she was so sweet and accommodating and friendly and knowledgeable. I think she made the meal taste even better with her warm and friendly service even though she didn't prepare the food herself. I love eating their really authentic Mexican cuisine. I placed my order on the Door Dash App on my Apple IPhone XR for my dinner yesterday. My order was 5 items. I received my Rubio's order on time at 5:45 p.m. by Vania my Dasher delivery driver and she handed me my order by my request. My order is as follows: one large size Mexican Street Corn Bowl with Pan-Seared Shrimp. The price is $15.61. One regular size Hi-C Fruit Punch. The price $4.11. Then one regular size package of Tortilla Chips. The price is $2.86. One regular size No-fried Pinto Beans with Cheese. The price is $2.86. For my dessert , one Honduran Gluten Free Chocolate Brownie with Chocolate Chunks. The price is $4.36. The subtotal was $29.80. The delivery fee was $4.99 but was reduced to Free Delivery since I spent a total of $12.00 plus dollars on my order. The service fee was $4.47 but was reduced to $1.50. The estimated tax was 46 cents. My total bill was $40.76. This is also a really expensive order. I usually don't pay this much money, when I drive out to Rubio's Coastal Grill myself and dine inside their restaurant. Everything that I ate for my order was very healthy with the exception of this Chocolate Brownie and really delicious. This Mexican Street Corn Bowl was my first time ordering this food. I still have half of this dish order over because I receive a HUGE bowl. The Mexican Street Corn Bowl has a variety of flavors like citrus rice, pan seared shrimp, guacamole, cilantro, a spicy sauce, black beans, and Mexican grilled Street corn. I really enjoyed eating this dish. I recommend it . They're tortilla chips were good. The Hi-C Fruit Punch was refreshing and not too sweet. And my favorite dessert was the Gluten Free Honduran Chocolate Brownie with Chocolate Chunks. This Brownie is very decadent and has a rich chocolate flavor. It's very yummy! I placed an online order for some fish tacos and a shrimp and bacon burrito for pick up. When I got there the food was ready to go and the staff was attentive. When I got the burrito, first thing that I noticed was the size of it. It definitely was significantly bigger than shrimp bacon burritos I've gotten before. It's was very loaded and proportions of ingredients inside the burrito was spot on. It was very well made and the flavor was good. I'd definitely go back and try it again. read more

Shrimp was incredible, manager who carried out the food for us was beyond kind and professional , he was welcoming and respectful. Pains me to have to say we had several issues because he was wonderful. We had a few items missing: - Missing 3 little Tomatillo Salsas - missing big bowl of White Sauce - missing two cabbage sides. - we Ordered 2 kids meals of chicken tenders. Was $14, instead we received 2 cold kids meals of fish that looked way over cooked. The Kids absolutely loath fish. They had nothing to eat. Had to order pizza for them after realizing it because we were at an outreach event and working but they needed to be able to eat. - the steak was not edible. People were spitting it out and several commented it wasn't even chewable. None of us could eat it. $45 plus tax wasted. - there were no napkins, thankfully someone had some we could use. - oh and half the ppl liked the fish tacos a lot and other half said it had an off taste, so I tasted and one batch in one container seems to have been a bit off in that it had gone bad. Real bad. However the other was great. So we just served it. Another $45 wasted. - chips and chipotle were incredibly great. I reported was needed refunded or replaced 1 fish taco kit $45 1 steak taco kit $45 2 chicken tender kid meals. $14 We spent $400 and $104 plus tax of it was inedible PLUS the several items we didn't even receive that I'm not sure the cost of. We were told we'd get a $5 off and free drink or dessert coupon that we never got. And a $25 coupon that expired shortly after. We've used a different location for events and they forgot all the sauces but the rest was great so we didn't report it. We decided to start using them regularly but after this no thank you. I've been wanting to try this creation and today on taco Tuesday, I finally did. I ordered 2 fish taco especial, no tortilla, extra cabbage and a side of large corn. I would like to say that my family has been going to Rubio's at this location for at least 15 yrs. Yesterday my wife and grandkids went there for pick-up(we usually dine-in) While ordering the steak plate for myself and my wife. The girl at the counter (Sara) asked my wife what kind of steak which puzzled her because no one has ever asked myself or her that question before. When my wife asked what do you mean her reply what kind of steak. She wouldn't go into detail what she meant. I guess the Rubio's where we eat has gone under new management and they have several new cuts of steak which she didn't bother to explain Was an awkward situation for my wife. One of my favorite fast casual chain restaurants. Why? Consistency with fresh ingredients; which is important to me and also, friendly service. Today I used a bogo coupon. I ordered the Salmon and Oaxacan shrimp bowl. Citrus rice, black beans and guacamole would accompany the main ingredient. I preferred the shrimp over the salmon. Why? Salmon was over cooked= very dry. That Oaxacan smoked sauce helped but was better on the shrimp. Salsa bar is a must; I'm a huge fan of the chipotle salsa. Iriane took my order and was very helpful in explaining the ingredients and offering a taste of the Oaxacan sauce. Btw, if you haven't tried Rubio's "Crispy" fish taco, I highly recommend you do. I love rubio's food but I wish I could just get what I ordered. I ordered the three street tacos with no guacamole, add cheese. Unfortunately they completely left off the onions and cilantro. I ordered online so there's no way it was miscommunication. Also, at least half the time I get fries here I barely get any fries. I wish they would be more consistent. And the website is not user friendly I wouldn't recommend it. I can't even order the fries online for some reason, I have to order those when I get there. read more

I thought all Rubio's were supposed to be created equal. How do you mess up a simple fish taco? I'll tell you how this location does it, serve it cold, the smallest piece of fish in lots of batter, plus a surprise inedible in your taco, and so much cabbage, it looks like a salad, that's how! After giving this location several chances, I am confused but convinced this location has kind employees, but not good food. When I asked for a manager, the shift manager apologized and offered to make another taco...... I passed since I don't want more of the same bad food. I like Rubio's and I will drive the extra miles to another location (bressi ranch or o'side), since this one, somehow misses the mark. Normally i love rubios but my experience was not pleasant. The food is normally good but the California bowl I got was missing salsa even when i asked for verde. I got the veggie bowl and the flavor was good but there was only 1 piece of cauliflower and a small scoop of corn. Ok, so after about a month I decided to try another Uber Eats order from this Rubios hoping it'd be better. Fortunately it was - back to how it has been in the past (which is par for the course w/ Rubios - and I love their salmon tacos). I ordered again today and again it was really good as it used to always be. So I'm not sure what was going on for a period of a month or two, but for the moment I'm happy that I can go back to ordering from them every now and again when I don't have time to make something. BTW - I hadn't read the manager's reply prior to coming back to update this - and I don't think I'll bother to reach out for any coupon or whatnot they might offer. 12 pm rolls around and I need a place to eat for my hour lunch. I usually go to my go to places, but since I haven't been to Rubios in awhile and craving fish tacos, why not? So I pretty shocked that they've renovated their menu and amped it up too! Either this was something done recently or I just haven't been to Rubios in forever! I'm such a big fan of Mahi Mahi that when I saw it on the menu, I knew that's what I would get! This place was pretty crowded in the afternoon, but still managed to find a table. I liked how they give you numbers and will bring you your food instead of going up to the counter to get it. The fish was decent and wished that the salsa they put on it was chunkier because it started to make my tacos soggy :(. However the salsa bar made up for the spicyness I was craving! I have always been a fan of the California bowl but had not had one in quite some time. Just got home and opened it up to find a bowl of mostly rice. There was a thin layer on top of beans, salsa and chicken but the flavor of the rice takes over since there is so much of it. My husband ordered the mango avo salad and his first comment was how the chicken was practically missing. I I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because they didn't skimp on the guacamole for my bowl but it also had a lemon flavor that overtook the avocado. Visited here for a carside pick up order via the Rubio's app. Food came out quickly and was fulfilled correctly. I'm a big fan of the Rubio's pickup procedure where you have to call when you arrive. I haven't had many issues, so I its seems to work well. My only criticism is that Rubio's uses a lot of plastic for their packaging. Each salsa in its own plastic tub, the whole order wrapped up in a plastic bag. I wish some items were better for the environment. Chick-fil-A, for example, you can get out of there with only paper trash and no plastic. read more
