Unfortunately this office does not have their act together. Months ago I made an appointment for October 7. Last night I went to make sure there was no paper work for me to fill out, but when I entered my portal (linked in my appointment confirmation email) it said no appointments. I emailed to make sure my accounts were synced, but then received a call the following day telling me my appointment had been cancelled because they won't have a hygienist. I do wonder if they would have told me without me asking-- my guess is no considering my partner had an appointment the same day and didn't know his was cancelled until I told him mine was. I then asked if I could come in the day before or the week after, and was told they're scheduling into April. Even though THEY cancelled my appointment. Parking is right next to the building and entrance is in front of the building. I made the appointment within a day due to an emergency tooth pain. When you walk into the clinic, you're met with the friendliest receptionist. The clinic itself is located on the bottom floor/basement. The wait time was about 10-15 minutes and they get you in almost right away. The dental hygienist is the friendliest person also. She makes conversations with you, tries to get to know you, and tries to make you feel comfortable. If you don't want to talk she's good with that too. All while she's establishing good rapport with you, she's taking care of the dental cleaning and assisting the doctor with the procedure. She attended to my needs and ensured I was comfortable and pain-free. Dr. Rubinstein herself is nice also. She attended to multiple patients at once with ease. With all the needles and drills going inside my gums, I felt absolutely no pain during and after the procedure. I was anxious about my treatment but this clinic revived my hope in getting dental procedures again. After the appointment, they get all my requests done in a timely manner. If you have any urgent needs and are in the Providence area, Dr. Rubinstein and Ducoff's clinic is a good spot to establish dental care. read more

Have been a patient for 47 years under care of Dr. Michael Rubenstein and Dr. Robert Ducoff, but they retired and business in hands of Dr.. Mayra Rubenstein and Dr.. Perske. Office staff needs to learn patients help make their salary, so cut the sarcasm and Professionalism and courtesy go a long way. Todays hygienist overlooked fact I had a broken tooth. Dr. asked did you see it, she replied NO. Hygienist I had 6 months ago needs to learn to address retired Drs. by Dr. Ducoff, not Bob, not Bobbie. He deserves the respect he earned. I switched to this dental practice after a bad experience at my last dental visit at another practice, and have had a good experience to date. This is my second year with dentist Dr Persky. The hygienist is always friendly and welcoming and does a very throughout cleaning. I had an urgent need once and was seen right away without question. The location is centered locally to most cities in RI and southeastern MA. Although, the parking lot is a-bit awkward if you have a larger vehicle, since it's set in a residential area; there has always been sufficient parking when I've had an appointment, and it beats parking on the street. read more

Coming from a horrible dental experience getting my braces along with two wisdom teeth removals I expected the worse from almost all dental practices. Almost 5 years later of teeth neglect I finally had dental insurance and decided to take my chances again of maintaining some pearly whites. All the staff here are quite professional and though it took a week or so for my first scheduled appointment it was well worth it. I'm still coming here for over 2 years now for my 6 month check ups. The place is nice and cozy located in East Side Providence and has a private lot but ample street parking available. I opt for early morning appointments and never had a problem. I had three different hygienists and both of them gave my teeth a thorough cleaning with very little pain. Though if I had a preference I like to stick to my primary one who is always a welcome cause she gives me extra Listerine to rinse with. Coffee stains and plaque completely cleaned out each time. With relatively painless teeth cleaning I opted to get my remaining two wisdom teeth taken out which had broken out of my gums and caused me great pain as they continued to grow. I opted for the quick procedure offered here and I believe it was Dr. Rubinstein who worked his magic. Four quick shots of Novocaine and one pick later, both two wisdom teeth popped right out in less than 10 minutes. Again completely painless and I was able to go to work afterwards though with a mouth of gauze. Great staff to work with and friendly phone and email reminders makes this dental office tops. Definitely a far cry from my early experience and I can't imagine changing dentists now. I'm definitely glad to make this now part of my routine checkups along with my doctor's. Dental insurance definitely helps and through my job changes they haven't had a problem with taking Bluecross Blue shield or Delta Dental which I have now. read more

After moving to Providence several years ago I needed a new dentist and found the practices of Drs. Rubinstein and Ducoff. I have visited this office multiple times now and have enough experiences to write a comprehensive review. I originally used their website to request further information and a new patient appointment. After waiting over 2 weeks with no response, I needed to call. If a business offers communication via website/email it should be maintained appropriately. The location has a nice little parking lot for patients which is very appreciated. Upon entering the office, the front desk staff was not friendly or welcoming to myself or my roommate who also receives care there. They did not smile and were all business, and it was extremely unwelcoming. This is especially true of my first visit when I was a new patient. The waiting area is clean with enough space to walk around, relax, grab some water, etc. I usually wait about 10 minutes and am seen by the dental hygienists. They are so pleasant and very lovely people. They do their job so well and with a smile. I admire their friendliness and great customer service. After my X-rays/cleaning, my dentist (Dr. Ducoff) usually comes into the room to examine me. One time he sat down and started examining me, but looked disappointed. He immediately suggested I should buy the Philips Sonicare toothbrush that he clearly endorses. After informing him that I have been using the Sonicare brush for two years now after the office's initial recommendation he then proceeded to become defensive and say that my gum was bleeding because I'm "not doing what you're supposed to be doing" which was flossing. I thought to myself, "no, I'm bleeding because you just poked and prodded my gums with a sharp tool". After a minute or 2 he gets up says goodbye and leaves. Not the best of chair-side manners and I work in healthcare so I know the importance of maintaining that provider-patient relationship. I usually ask my dental hygienist to book my next appointment because I dislike the experience with the front desk. If it wasn't for the dental hygienists I would not recommend this office. There are many other offices in the area which I am currently looking to transfer to. I hope this business makes some changes because there is great potential here. Update 4/19/18: Service was much better this time around. The front staff was very helpful and nice. Dr. Ducoff was also much more pleasant and his chairside manners were better. read more

My partner (f) had a very unusual first appointment at this office yesterday. The cleaning by the hygienist (f) was good. However, after the cleaning, Dr. Robert Ducoff treated her in a extremely misogynistic/homophobic way. He was looking at her paperwork and announced that he saw that she had listed that she had a 'Partner'. He then said "Nobody has husbands anymore..." The Dr. then asked her directly if it was a woman or a man-(wtf?), my partner- taken off guard, responded by saying "woman". He then hit her in the head with the papers he was holding. A bizarre encounter that made my partner feel harassed. A couple minutes later he grabbed her arm!She promptly cancelled our next two appointments. We will not be spending our money with an office like this. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in 2.5 years, because I changed jobs and no longer have dental insurance. I called around all the East Side dental practices to find someone accepting new patients and an office that offers the safer digital x-rays. For $255, new patients get a full-set of digital x-rays (18 images!), a cleaning and exam. This was the best price that I came across. Everyone at the office was super-nice and I was in and out in under an hour. Best of all, no cavities! :) read more

Relatively new to RI, I found my way to these great folks via Yelp. All of the staff were extremely courteous, starting with the woman who answered the phone and scheduled my appointment. Joyce, who did my cleaning, was outstanding, quick, fun, and explained each procedure that took place. You might think, "Hey, it's a cleaning. What's there to explain?" She explained the differences between gum disease and receding gums, why she was doing certain things and what she was looking for. Maybe it's just me...I like info, so I thought it was cool. She was never pushy about products/procedures, which I also thought was great. Other people I've been to remind me of going to a car dealership. I saw Dr. Ducoff at the end and he was incredibly nice, affable, funny, and seemed interested in getting to know me, rather than breezing in and out. Overall, going to the dentist couldn't have been better. Everyone was kind, looked like they enjoyed working there, and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me. I think they had a nice balance of being professional and friendly. Very mom and pop, small town kind of feel. I'd highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Finding a dentist is difficult. This is one to steer clear of! I went here on two occasions. The second was out of desperation. I only had 3 weeks left on my insurance plan and I didn't have time to search for a new dentist and be sure I could get an appointment. The front desk ladies are not helpful and are pretty sour. They were a bit miffed when I asked to have a copy of of the dental exam report! It is my dental information why should I not have access to it! The first time I went to see Mahra Ducoff she spent half the time talking crap about my former dentists work based on one small abnormality in one of my fillings which turned out to not be an issue.I had 12 fillings done with this previous dentist and loved their staff and work. This method was not the way to go if she was looking to start a good rapport with me. When it was determined that I needed a new filling I requested a white one instead of a silver one at which point she spent 20 minutes trying to dissuade me from my preference with little substantive reason other than the fact that she has silver fillings that have lasted 25 years. Again where is patient voice! Then billing was a nightmare for both visits. The front desk ladies have consistently misinformed me about billing information. Both times I was charged for things that my insurance doesn't cover in very underhanded ways. The first time I knew my insurance covered bite wing xrays so I was ok when they took xrays. they however never informed me they were taking a full set. Which cost me an extra $100! The second time I went in for my second cleaning of the year which is covered. How was I to know that when the dentist came to look at me during my cleaning they were doing an "exam" which is not covered. This was an extra $50 again I was not informed of the procedures occurring in the visit. In one sense I can respect the dentists view which they stated to me "they will not let insurance dictate the way they do their business ie the belief that every cleaning should be accompanies by an exam." But to refuse to do a cleaning without an exam despite the fact that my insurance (delta dental the largest and possibly only provider in RI) dose not cover a second exam is preposterous. Where is the concept of working with patients to support them in what they can afford! Over all it was a horrible experience on many front the worst of which is they fail to see that patient voice and choice is essential to creating an empowering experience! read more

I have never been pressured into any services that were not needed. The doctors are extremely personable and thorough. I had to double check to make sure I was reviewing the right place after reading the other reviews because my experience was the complete opposite. I'd been hoofing it to my MA dentist because I was too lazy to switch, but in early 2012, I decided to stop being so lazy and find a local RI dentist. By perusing reviews and looking at dentists in-network for my insurance, I stumbled upon Drs. Rubinstein & Ducoff. Making the appointments for me and hubby was easy enough, though I had to go several months out. Not too much of an issue, because I know that is how the cookie crumbles with getting into a dental practice given that most patients are established and schedule their appointments six months out. Hubby went before me and had an awful experience. They could not verify his insurance, and he was treated like a criminal. He finally said that he would pay the paltry bill and look into the insurance situation. The hygienist was okay for him, but nothing to write home about. The kicker was when Dr. Mahra Rubinstein insisted on examining him in the middle of the cleaning because she needed to leave. O-kay. I wrote it off as him exaggerating, and went to my appointment with high hopes. Worry not, they were soon dashed. The front desk/reception women were miserable. So rude and completely unprofessional. The hygienist was fine, but she was pretty much entirely silent and not personable. Dr. Mahra Rubinstein again was working at breakneck speed to examine me to she could leave. Unpleasant experience all-around. The kicker was when I called to inquire about refunding the credit balance on my husband's account because of course the insurance coverage was verified. The woman indicated it would just remain and they would discuss at his next appointment. Ha! They clearly missed the memo that there would be no second appointment for either of us. I've since found another dentist in East Providence who is wonderful and rivals my MA dentist. Beware of Dr. Rubinstein and Ducoff. Was with them for years. Got a new dental plan and had to pay more out of pocket. They gave me an estimate for my cost of a crown - $1000. So I saved up and had it done. Charged me $2000. They are very rushed in that place and push people in and out, which is a good thing - who wants to be a the dentist long, but it is not assembly line work. Moved to a new dentist and ask to have my records transferred 2 months before the appointment. Got a call they had not arrived yet and my appointment is tomorrow. Called to Ducoff's office to find out what happened and they gave me a attitude like it was my fault I did not have my new dentist e-mail address. read more

I have, fortunately had experience with the other nurses and doctors in the building and they were made of the highest quality.
