I thought he was a decent dentist but I was a little dismayed by the fact that his office, in a converted house, was still very house-like and he definitely didn't pride himself on keeping up-to-date on new technologies (as a funny example, all of his bills were still on old-school paper ledgers - I guess he was afraid of computers). A couple of years ago, after being in Seekonk (my new hometown) for four years, I finally decided that it was time to find a new dentist. I was a little hesitant to go to a new dentist as you just never know which ones are quality dentists. I was referred to Dr. Molak by my wife and let me say, I am a fan for life! Pros: 1. His office is in a converted house like my former dentist but you wouldn't know it upon entering. Bright, clean, and inviting. 2. SiriusXM! I use SiriusXM for 75% of my waking hours and he is always playing good music which can help to calm you down (if you're a fraidy cat...not me!). 3. All of his associates are friendly, like all of them. Not a bad one in the bunch. 4. Dr. Molak is awesome. He's friendly, professional, and knows how to put you at ease with whatever procedure you're getting. My opinion is to stay away from the franchise dentist places or large practices as they're going to be out for getting as much revenue as they can. This means they might try to get you to undergo costly and potentially unnecessary procedures. Stick with a dentist who owns his own practice, stays up-to-date on the latest procedures, and makes you feel at ease. Dr. Molak is all of that which is why he comes highly recommended by me.

They made an appointment for the fitting, which was supposed to be on September 23rd. We were contacted today, September 18th, letting us know that our insurance would not authorize the treatment without trying a CPAP first. I spent several hours speaking to different departments at our insurance company to find out the procedure and after much research and speaking with a high level supervisor, it was confirmed to me that we did NOT need any prior authorization, nor does my son need to try a CPAP before getting a mouth guard. When I called the office to discuss this with them, I was met with a rude women who would not allow me to speak. Who in fact told me that I could pay them $2500 upfront and then fight with my insurance company to be paid back. She was a receptionist...not even billing! Do not go to this dentist office is you would like to ask questions or advocate for yourself. They do not want to hear anything at all and think they know what they are talking about...not to mention WAY overpriced. I called my own dentist and asked about a mouth guard and was told is was only $1500 and we could submit the claim. Awful!!!

Recently discovering that I was in need of gum surgery, I set out looking simply for someone that took my insurance. What I found was this and so much more! Jeffrey Shapiro, DMD was recommended to me by a family member who had had several procedures done at this office. After my first consultation, I was convinced that I too, had made the right choice in my care. Dr. Shapiro examined my mouth in detail, checking not only the areas noted by my primary dentist but any other potential problems as well. In discussing my case, treatment options were presented along with reasonable rationales for course of action. He was sure to review the benefits and risks of the procedure and thoroughly explored my concerns and questions. As a medical professional myself, I highly appreciated this detailed review. In knowing specifics regarding treatment time, recovery expectations, procedure cost, and the like, I was able to make an informed decision about how best to fit my visits into a busy schedule. Never a big fan of dental work, I was a ball of nerves walking into the office on procedure day. The team working here at this office though do a wonderful job to help ease the stress associated with their trade. From the welcoming receptionists to the helpful and competent support staff to Jeffrey Shapiro himself, I was generally at ease as I settled in for the procedure. Dr. Shapiro explained everything step by step so I knew what to expect throughout the entire thing. All in all, I was out of there in no time. My follow up experience has been equally as pleasant and though I wish to not have to return again in the future, Ill know exactly who to look for if needed. Periodontal Associates has this office and another in Middletown, RI. They offer a variety of hours and specialize in a multitude of procedures ranging from periodontal therapy, cleanings, dental implants, Invisalign, night guards, whitening and digital x-rays (according to their website). New patients are able to fill out necessary forms online through their website. They have a decent size parking lot attached to the building with ample street parking as well if needed. It is conveniently located on the East Side of Providence, just minutes from the highway. Once again, highly recommended!

So, I go to his office. When I met Dr. Chung, and sat down on the chair, he came in and just tapped each of my upper teeth, and numbering them, that needed the splinting. It took no more than 1 min. After he finished, I wanted to ask him some question before going through with the Splint procedure. He abruptly interrupted me, and said "You want straight teeth? Yes or No?" Lol, I said yes. "OK, THEN." With a straight and grumpy face. I know it may sound a bit funny. However at the time, I felt disrespected by him, and he was really rude. I don't know what his problem was. I'm the one that's getting the procedure and have to live with it, not him. It's strange though, how my humble orthodontist, recommend me to this rude, incompetent man. He quickly rushed out, and didn't fully answer any of my questions. The whole meeting, was a Quick 2-3 min meet. When I got to the secretary, to schedule the next appointment, they charged me $80 just for a 2-3 min consultation! I have great dental insurance. It should be for free the consultation, in my opinion. Especially, if another doctor recommended me to him. Smdh. Just fyi, I do have dental insurance from my job, working for the state. But my insurance said, it doesn't cover for it because this is considered, a cosmetic. So in the end, I didn't like the experience was a thumbs down. I gave it two stars because, #1 the location is nice, and the #2 the secretary was kinda nice. I will get the splint done. Just, not with this asshole of a doctor. if you have to go meet him, just remember, that he is a bit of an asshole, they charge you $80 for the consultation, and may not answer any of your question in detail. So be warned. Hopefully things will change for the better with him.

Today I experienced the worst visit I have ever had. I got there early, 8am appointment was there at 10 of to be safe, first appointment of the day and didn't get started until quarter after because the hygienist Marissa was not ready. I felt extremely uncomfortable with both her conversation topics (complaining about their equipment and talking about their high turnover rates with hygienists) as well as the 20+ minutes of almost being drowned with a water pick while I was told to move my head and neck into extremely uncomfortable positions to make it more convenient for her and make HER more comfortable. I was so uncomfortable, was sprayed multiple times and had her entire hand resting over my eye at one point with skin contact. After 40 minutes of the appointment time she still hadn't started brushing/polishing my teeth and instead was lecturing me on flossing. Again while not actually cleaning my teeth, just sitting there. I said I had no plan to, and just wanted my cleaning done. Again this is 40 minutes in, and I do have a job of my own to get to. She struck my cheek, I am guessing in her mind it was playful, but as someone who was already EXTREMELY uncomfortable at that point it was completely unnecessary and unwarranted. I got up, said I was all set and left. I asked the woman at the front desk if there was a comment card I could complete and she said I could just tell her the problem. Like I said I have a job to get to, so I called on my way there and explained the whole situation as I am doing here. She apologized but said all she could do was make sure the next time I was with a different hygienist. Keep in mind Marissa is already the 4th one I have seen in two years so the odds of that were pretty high anyway. But since there is no other solution, or comment card for the real manager/ owner. Here is it. They would not provide MARISSA's last name, but when I find a NEW dental office, I will be sure to make sure she is not on staff there.
